30 modular XAUUSD strategies. One chart. One portfolio-level risk engine.

Mother Superior is not a single-entry Expert Advisor. It is a modular portfolio engine containing 30 independently switchable XAUUSD strategies grouped into five different trading personalities. Each enabled module keeps its own signal logic, native timeframe, stop loss, profit target, break-even, trailing and exit rules.

Mother Superior is NOT grid and NOT martingale. It does not add positions to recover a losing trade. Every position is opened by a real strategy signal and is protected by its own SL and TP logic.

This guide explains installation, lot sizing, portfolio limits, module selection, correlation, prop-firm controls and safe first setup.


1. IMPORTANT VERSION NOTE

Mother Superior 2.30+ introduced a major modular and risk-engine update. Old SET files made for 2.0, 2.01 or earlier builds must not be loaded into version 2.33 unless they were explicitly rebuilt and verified for the new engine.

Use only:

- the current factory defaults;
- a SET file supplied specifically for your current Mother Superior version; or
- a custom SET that has been tested with the same EA version, broker symbol and account conditions.

Adding more modules does not automatically add their standalone profits. Modules share the same portfolio limits and can compete for available lot capacity. Every combined portfolio requires its own test.


2. INSTALLATION

1. Open MetaTrader 5 and log in to the MQL5 account used for the purchase or rental.
2. Open Navigator → Market → My Purchases.
3. Download or update Mother Superior.
4. Open one chart of your broker's gold symbol, normally XAUUSD. A broker suffix such as XAUUSD.a or GOLD may require a broker-specific test.
5. M15 is a convenient host chart, but the chart timeframe does not control every module. The EA requests the internal timeframes required by each strategy.
6. Attach Mother Superior to one XAUUSD chart only.
7. Enable Allow Algo Trading in the EA properties and enable Algo Trading in MetaTrader 5.
8. Open Inputs and either load a current SET file or configure the EA manually.
9. Confirm that the dashboard shows ACTIVE / SCANNING and that trading is permitted.

For behaviour closest to the portfolio tests, a hedging account is preferred. A netting account combines positions by symbol and may produce different execution and management results.

Do not attach the same Mother Superior build to several XAUUSD charts on the same account. The 30 modules already run internally from one chart.


3. FIRST START CHECKLIST

Before live use, confirm all of the following:

- The correct XAUUSD symbol is open.
- Algo Trading is enabled.
- The selected SET matches the installed EA version.
- The intended modules show TRUE and all unwanted modules show FALSE.
- The sizing mode is correct.
- Max lot per trade and max open lots total are correct.
- Spread, session and Friday times use the broker's server time.
- The Strategy Tester uses the exact broker symbol, commission, leverage and real ticks.
- The setup has been observed on demo before live trading.


4. LOT-SIZING MODES

Mother Superior offers three global lot-sizing modes. Only the fields belonging to the selected mode control the calculated entry volume.

A) FIX LOT

The same requested lot size is used for every new trade, subject to the per-trade and total-lot ceilings.

Main field:
- Lot size for each module

Example:
- Lot size for each module = 0.01
- Max lot for one trade = 0.01

This is simple, but monetary risk varies because the modules use different SL distances.

B) EQUITY %

The EA calculates lot size from current account equity, the selected risk percentage and the module's native SL distance.

Main field:
- Risk % (EQUITY mode only)

Example:
- Equity = 25,000 USD
- Risk = 0.40%
- Planned entry-to-SL risk is approximately 100 USD before volume rounding and execution costs.

Because current equity is used, lot size can increase after profits and decrease after losses. Use Max lot for one trade if you do not want volume to grow without a ceiling.

C) FIX USD

The EA calculates lot size from a fixed monetary risk target and the module's native SL distance.

Main field:
- Planned SL risk USD

Example:
- Planned SL risk USD = 100
- A close SL receives a larger lot; a distant SL receives a smaller lot.

This is usually the clearest mode when you want approximately the same planned SL exposure across strategies with very different stop distances.

IMPORTANT RISK NOTE

Equity % and Fixed USD calculate planned entry-to-SL risk before entry. The value is not a guaranteed maximum realized loss. Gaps, slippage, commissions, spread expansion, partial management and broker execution can produce a larger final loss.


5. PORTFOLIO CAPACITY AND RISK LIMITS

Max open trades
- Maximum number of simultaneous Mother positions.
- 0 = no trade-count limit.

Max open lots total
- Hard capacity ceiling for the sum of all open Mother volumes.
- Example: 0.40 means all open Mother positions together cannot exceed 0.40 lot.
- 0 = no total-lot limit.

Max lot for one trade
- Hard volume ceiling for one new entry.

Planned SL risk cap %
- Rejects a new trade if its planned initial SL risk is above the selected percentage of starting balance.
- 0 = off.

Planned open SL risk cap %
- Blocks a new entry when the planned SL risk of all open Mother positions plus the new trade would exceed the selected percentage of starting balance.
- This is an entry gate. It is not an equity stop and does not close the whole portfolio when the percentage is reached.
- 0 = off.

Mother BE overlay
- Optional additional Mother-level break-even layer.
- 0 = off.
- Every module keeps its own native exit, break-even and trailing logic even when the Mother overlay is off.
- Do not enable this globally without retesting the complete SET. A universal BE can reduce both drawdown and large winners.

Max spread in price
- 0 = use the modules' native spread controls.
- A positive value is an additional global spread ceiling expressed as price distance, not broker points.
- Example: if XAUUSD Ask − Bid is 0.44, the price spread is 0.44. Always verify the symbol digits and contract specification.


6. HOW TO CHOOSE MODULES

The 30 public switches are ON/OFF controls only. Indicator periods, internal timeframes and proprietary entry logic remain protected inside the EA.

Do not judge a module only by win rate. A high-hit module may collect many small wins and occasionally take a larger loss. A trend module may lose more often but depend on fewer large winners. Portfolio quality comes from combining different payoff shapes, not from selecting only the highest win rate.

GROUP 02A — HIGH HIT RATE

Frequent smaller wins are expected. A losing trade can be larger than a typical winner. Use these modules in moderation and combine them with trend and regime modules.

001 Breakout 2
- High-hit breakout alternative.
- More small winners; occasional larger loss.

002 Asia Retest 2
- High-hit session-retest alternative.
- Active around session structure; compact payoff profile.

003 Change Reversal 2
- High-hit reversal alternative.
- Designed to react faster than the main reversal version.

GROUP 02B — SESSION BREAKOUT

Time-window breakouts and retests with a medium typical holding period.

004 Asia Retest 1
- Balanced session-retest behaviour.

005 Inside-Day Breakout 1
- Lower-frequency expansion after inside-day compression.

006 Narrow-Range Breakout 1
- Breakout after a compressed range; moderate selectivity.

007 Structure Retest 1
- Selective structure retest; balanced core candidate.

008 Jump Continuation 1
- Momentum continuation after a strong displacement; selective core candidate.

GROUP 02C — TREND & BIG WIN

These modules can have lower hit rates and losing streaks. Their edge depends more on larger targets or longer-running winners.

009 Breakout 1
- Higher-variance breakout profile with larger winner dependency.

010 Trend Alignment 1
- Selective entries when several trend conditions agree.

011 Weekly Trend 1
- Slower trend behaviour; fewer and potentially longer trades.

012 Swing Pullback 1
- Pullback entries inside a broader swing move.

013 Trend Pullback 1
- Balanced trend-pullback core module.

014 Momentum Pullback 1
- Selective pullback entry inside active momentum.

015 Continuation 1
- General continuation profile with medium frequency.

016 Momentum Continuation 1
- Faster continuation logic in strong directional conditions.

GROUP 02D — REVERSAL

Counter-move and mean-reversion strategies. Losses can cluster when gold remains strongly one-directional, so avoid building a portfolio entirely from this group.

017 Mean Reversion 1
- Faster return-to-mean behaviour.

- Reversal after liquidity displacement; moderate frequency.

- Selective counter-move after an extended move.

GROUP 02E — REGIME & DIVERSIFIERS

These modules are included mainly for different market-regime behaviour and portfolio smoothing, not simply for maximum standalone trade count.

023 Squeeze Breakout 1
- Breakout diversifier after volatility compression.

024 Weekly Stability 1
- Higher-activity stability component; smaller average contribution per trade can still improve monthly coverage.

025 Regime Filter 1
- Selective module that participates only in suitable market regimes.

026 Regime Switch 1
- Changes behaviour according to the detected environment.

027 Volatility Regime 1
- Selective participation based on volatility state; core diversifier.

028 Statistical Reversal 1
- Very selective statistical reversal; historically a small sample, so use cautiously.

029 Trend Ensemble 1
- Multiple trend conditions combined into one selective signal.

030 Consensus 1
- Strict multi-condition agreement; generally lower frequency.


7. CORRELATION — WHAT IT REALLY MEANS

Correlation is not the percentage of identical trades.

A monthly P/L correlation of 0.40 means two strategies have a mild-to-moderate tendency to perform similarly across months. It does NOT mean that 40% of their entries are identical. Trade overlap and return correlation are different measurements.

Practical interpretation:

- Near +1.00: results usually move together; limited diversification.
- Around +0.40 to +0.60: some shared behaviour, but meaningful differences may remain.
- Around 0.00: little linear relationship; often useful for diversification.
- Negative correlation: one may perform better when the other performs worse, but negative historical correlation can change.

How to build a healthier mix:

- Combine modules from several groups.
- Avoid enabling every High Hit module at full risk.
- Avoid an all-Reversal portfolio because losses may cluster in trends.
- Include at least one Trend and one Regime/Diversifier component.
- Compare monthly and weekly P/L, not only total profit.
- Check max simultaneous lots and planned open SL risk.
- Retest the exact combined SET. Standalone results cannot simply be added together.

Adding a low-correlation module can reduce weak months even if its standalone profit is smaller. Conversely, adding a profitable module can make the shared portfolio worse if it consumes lot capacity at the wrong time or increases drawdown clusters.


8. PROP-FIRM AND EXECUTION CONTROLS

All prop-firm features default to OFF unless a current SET enables them.

Use prop firm limits
- Master switch for the prop-protection profile.

Max risk in all open trades
- Additional planned open-risk ceiling while prop mode is active.

Max risk in related trades
- Restricts planned risk inside related strategy clusters.

Daily loss limit
- 0 = off.
- When reached, Mother closes its positions and blocks further entries for the protected day.

Total loss limit
- 0 = off.
- When reached, Mother closes its positions and locks trading for the protection cycle.

Protection Cycle ID
- Increase this number only when intentionally starting a new challenge or protection cycle.

Friday entry stop
- Stops new entries at the selected Friday broker-server time.

Friday force close
- Closes all Mother positions at the selected Friday broker-server time.

Maximum trade duration
- Force-closes Mother positions after the selected number of hours.
- 0 = off.

Minimum trade duration
- Prevents eligible voluntary module exits before the selected number of minutes.
- Safety actions, physical SL/TP and hard protection events may still close a trade earlier.
- 0 = off.

USD news filter
- Uses MetaTrader 5's built-in Economic Calendar; no external URL or DLL is required.
- Blocks new entries for the selected number of minutes before AND after qualifying USD news.
- It does not automatically close trades already open.
- Calendar availability depends on the terminal and broker environment.

Random entry delay
- Adds a randomized entry delay up to the selected number of seconds.
- 0 = off.

Random SL / TP distance
- Randomizes the calculated distance by the selected plus/minus percentage.
- 0 = off.
- Any non-zero randomization changes the strategy result and must be retested.

Order comment prefix
- Leave empty if the prop firm requires no visible trade comments.


9. TRADING TIMES AND DAILY PROFIT STOP

Global session
- Optional master schedule applied to all modules.
- When off, every module keeps its native session logic.
- Use broker-server time.

Monday delayed start
- Prevents new entries until the selected Monday server time.

Daily profit stop
- Stops new trading after the selected daily profit target.
- Force close at target is a separate option and should be enabled only after testing.


10. RECOMMENDED SETUP WORKFLOW

1. Start with a supplied SET rather than turning on all 30 modules.
2. Confirm the sizing mode and account balance for which the SET was built.
3. Set Max lot for one trade.
4. Set Max open lots total.
5. If using Fixed USD, set the planned SL-risk amount.
6. If using Equity %, set a conservative percentage and a max-lot ceiling.
7. Keep all new execution randomizers and extra protection layers OFF for the first control test.
8. Run 99% real-tick testing over several market regimes.
9. Review profit, PF, Recovery Factor, equity DD, weak months, weak weeks, largest realized loss and max simultaneous exposure.
10. Run the exact SET on demo with the intended broker.
11. Change only one major feature at a time and retest.


11. COMMON MISTAKES

- Loading a pre-2.30 SET into 2.33.
- Enabling all 30 modules without a combined portfolio test.
- Treating 1% equity risk as a guaranteed 1% realized loss.
- Setting Max open lots total lower than the broker minimum volume needed by the active strategies.
- Confusing price spread with broker points.
- Using local computer time instead of broker-server time.
- Assuming a chart timeframe changes every internal strategy timeframe.
- Running several Mother instances on the same XAUUSD account.
- Judging High Hit modules only by win rate.
- Assuming low correlation means no simultaneous trades.


12. BACKTEST SETTINGS

Recommended control test:

- Expert: current Mother Superior version
- Symbol: exact broker XAUUSD symbol
- Host timeframe: M15
- Model: Every tick based on real ticks
- Starting balance: the intended account size
- Leverage: the intended account leverage
- Commission and contract specification: exact broker conditions
- Date range: include different volatility and trend regimes

Results can differ between brokers because XAUUSD spread, tick history, commission, swap, execution, contract size and session data are not identical.


13. FINAL RISK DISCLOSURE

Past performance, optimization and Strategy Tester results do not guarantee future performance. Gold trading is leveraged and can result in the loss of the full trading capital. Planned risk controls reduce exposure but cannot remove gap, slippage, liquidity, broker, platform or execution risk.

Always test the exact EA version, SET file, broker symbol and account conditions on demo before considering live trading.
