ANDURIL is a multi-symbol Forex portfolio Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5. It is installed on one chart and manages all enabled currency-pair strategies from that single EA instance.
This guide explains installation, first start, preset loading, lot-size configuration, portfolio limits, the information panel, updates and common troubleshooting steps.

1. Important Operating Principle
ANDURIL is not a single-symbol EA that must be attached to every traded currency pair.
- Install ANDURIL on one normal Forex chart only.
- Do not attach it separately to every pair.
- The host chart symbol does not determine which pairs ANDURIL monitors.
- The host chart timeframe does not change the internal strategy timeframes.
- Each module uses its own internally assigned symbol, signal timeframe, statistical settings, session, spread limit, Stop Loss and Take Profit.
Running multiple ANDURIL instances on the same account is not recommended because the instances would use the same strategy Magic Numbers and could create duplicate portfolio engines.
2. Default Portfolio
ANDURIL contains 21 pair-specific strategy modules. Fifteen are enabled in the default configuration.
Enabled by default:
- AUDCAD
- GBPCHF
- EURJPY
- EURCAD
- NZDJPY
- EURNZD
- GBPNZD
- USDCAD
- AUDUSD
- GBPCAD
- NZDCAD
- CHFJPY
- GBPUSD
- AUDCHF
- NZDCHF
Reserve modules disabled by default:
- USDCHF
- CADJPY
- EURCHF
- USDJPY
- EURAUD
- CADCHF
Reserve modules can be enabled from the EA inputs, but any portfolio change should be tested before live use.
3. Installation
- Open MetaTrader 5 and log in to the MQL5 account used for the purchase.
- Open Market or Navigator and install ANDURIL from the MQL5 Market.
- Open Market Watch.
- Right-click inside Market Watch and select Show All.
- Open one normal Forex chart.
- Drag ANDURIL from Navigator — Expert Advisors onto the chart.
- Enable Allow Algo Trading in the EA settings.
- Enable the main Algo Trading button in MetaTrader 5.
- Confirm that the ANDURIL information panel appears.
- Confirm that the enabled symbols are resolved correctly.
Only one ANDURIL chart is required for the complete portfolio.
4. Recommended First Start
- Start with the default 0.01-lot configuration.
- Use a demo account before live trading.
- Keep all required Forex symbols visible in Market Watch.
- Verify that automatic broker-symbol detection works correctly.
- Check the Experts and Journal tabs for initialization or blocked-entry messages.
- Keep MetaTrader 5 connected and Algo Trading enabled.
- Use a stable VPS if the EA must operate continuously.
- Do not modify pair-specific strategy parameters without new testing.
ANDURIL may remain inactive while waiting for qualified setups. A lack of immediate trades does not necessarily indicate a problem.
5. Loading a Preset File
If an ANDURIL preset file has been provided:
- Attach ANDURIL to one chart.
- Open the Inputs tab.
- Select Load.
- Choose the required .set file.
- Confirm the loaded lot size and portfolio limits.
- Select OK.
- Verify the settings displayed by the information panel.
Previous ANDURIL preset files remain compatible with version 7.14. The input names, data types and default values are unchanged. Version 7.14 can therefore load previous presets without conversion.
The six refined strategy modules use the new 7.14 entry logic even when an older preset is loaded. Lot sizing, exposure limits and exit settings still come from the loaded preset.
6. Correct Lot-Size Configuration
The lot size and the related portfolio limits must be configured together.
The three most important settings are:
- Lot size per strategy
- Maximum combined open lots
- Maximum lots per FX pair
Maximum lots per FX pair must be equal to or higher than Lot size per strategy. Otherwise, a valid signal can be blocked by the exposure limit.
For a portfolio with a maximum of ten simultaneous positions, the technical scaling formula is:
Maximum combined open lots = Lot size per strategy × 10
Examples:
| Lot size per strategy | Maximum combined open lots | Maximum lots per FX pair |
|---|---|---|
| 0.01 | 0.10 | 0.01 |
| 0.05 | 0.50 | 0.05 |
| 0.10 | 1.00 | 0.10 |
| 0.25 | 2.50 | 0.25 |
| 0.40 | 4.00 | 0.40 |
These examples only show the correct relationship between the inputs. They are not account-size or risk recommendations. Higher lot sizes increase margin usage, profit variation and drawdown proportionally.
7. Portfolio Exposure Controls
Before opening a new position, ANDURIL checks the complete portfolio.
Main controls:
- Maximum combined open lots
- Maximum open positions
- Maximum positions per FX pair
- Maximum lots per FX pair
- Maximum positions involving the same currency
- Maximum lot per order
- Maximum lots per strategy
- One entry per completed signal bar
Recommended structural settings:
- Maximum positions per FX pair: 1
- Maximum open positions: 10
- Maximum positions per currency: 3 for the validated CAP3 profile
The currency limit counts every open ANDURIL position containing the same currency. For example, AUDCAD and AUDUSD both contribute to AUD exposure.
When a portfolio limit is reached, existing positions continue to be managed, but new entries are blocked until exposure becomes available again.
8. Stop Loss, Take Profit and Trade Management
Every standard ANDURIL position begins with:
- An ATR-based protective Stop Loss
- A pair-specific fixed-pip Take Profit
- A predefined exit structure
- No recovery orders
The ATR Stop Loss adapts to the current volatility of the traded pair. The Take Profit distance is configured separately for each strategy module.
ANDURIL can also close a profitable position when its internal statistical mean-reversion objective has been achieved.
The default stale-trade manager can close a losing position that has remained open for 14 days without sufficient progress. The feature is configurable in the inputs.
ANDURIL does not use Grid, Martingale, DCA, averaging down, position stacking or recovery baskets.
9. Version 7.14 Entry Refinements
Version 7.14 introduces validated pair-specific entry refinements for six active strategies:
- AUDCAD: refined statistical deviation threshold
- EURJPY: refined statistical threshold and trend-slope tolerance
- NZDJPY: Pivot, tick-volume VWAP, RSI and reversal-candle confirmation score
- GBPCAD: oversized signal-candle protection
- USDCAD: oversized signal-candle protection
- NZDCAD: refined statistical lookback
The remaining active modules retain their previous entry configuration because the tested alternatives did not remain consistent across the separated validation periods.
10. Trading Sessions and Friday Cutoff
Each strategy has its own internally configured trading session. New entries are considered only during the relevant module session when session filtering is enabled.
The Friday cutoff uses broker server time, not necessarily the computer's local time. After the configured cutoff, ANDURIL blocks new entries but continues managing positions that are already open.
The optional rollover block can prevent new entries during the selected server-time window around the daily rollover.
11. Spread and Execution Controls
Each strategy has its own maximum spread threshold. The global Spread tolerance multiplier adjusts all internal spread limits together.
- A value of 1.00 uses the validated internal spread limits.
- A value above 1.00 permits proportionally wider spreads.
- A value below 1.00 applies stricter spread filtering.
Increasing spread tolerance may allow more entries but can increase trading costs and execution risk. Test any change with realistic spread, commission, swap and slippage assumptions.
Before sending an order, ANDURIL also checks free margin, requested volume, broker volume steps and minimum stop-distance requirements.
12. Broker Symbol Suffixes
ANDURIL can automatically detect broker-specific suffixes such as:
- EURUSD.a
- EURUSDm
- EURUSD.pro
For automatic detection:
- Keep Detect broker symbol suffix automatically enabled.
- Make all required symbols available in Market Watch.
- Confirm the resolved names on the information panel.
If automatic detection does not resolve the symbols correctly, disable automatic detection and enter the exact suffix in Manual symbol suffix.
13. Information Panel
The information panel displays the enabled portfolio modules. Disabled reserve modules are hidden.
The panel includes:
- Account equity
- ANDURIL floating profit or loss
- Current and maximum portfolio lots
- Number of open ANDURIL positions
- Enabled strategy modules
- Resolved broker symbol names
- Module state: IDLE, BUY or SELL
- Open volume by module
- Floating result by module
- Remaining distance to Take Profit
- Age of each active position
IDLE means that the module currently has no open position. It does not mean that the strategy is disabled or malfunctioning.
14. Optional Account Protection
ANDURIL includes optional portfolio guards that are disabled by default:
- Daily equity-loss limit
- Floating portfolio-loss limit
- Monthly equity-loss limit
- Monthly profit lock
- Optional closing of ANDURIL positions at selected limits
- Pause after consecutive losses
- Configurable cooldown period
These features can support account discipline, but they do not guarantee compliance with the rules of any specific proprietary trading company. Check the exact rules of the intended account before enabling them.
15. Updating ANDURIL
For the cleanest update procedure:
- Save the current preset if custom settings are used.
- Preferably wait until no ANDURIL positions are open.
- Install the new version through MetaTrader 5 Market.
- Attach the updated EA to one chart.
- Load the saved preset if required.
- Verify the lot and portfolio limits.
- Confirm the resolved symbols and enabled modules.
- Check the Experts and Journal tabs.
Version 7.14 keeps the previous input names and strategy Magic Numbers. Previous presets load correctly, while the six improved modules automatically use the new entry logic.
16. Strategy Tester
Before live use:
- Open the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester.
- Select ANDURIL.
- Select a normal Forex host symbol.
- Use the desired preset.
- Use realistic deposit, leverage, commission and execution assumptions.
- Prefer Every Tick testing when suitable tick history is available.
- Ensure that history is available for every enabled portfolio symbol.
Because ANDURIL is a multi-symbol EA, incomplete history for one or more enabled pairs can affect the test.
Historical tests and optimization results do not guarantee future performance.
17. Troubleshooting
### The panel does not appear
- Confirm that ANDURIL is attached to the chart.
- Check that Show ANDURIL information panel is enabled.
- Review the Experts and Journal tabs for initialization errors.
### Symbols are unresolved
- Open Market Watch and select Show All.
- Confirm that the broker offers the required pairs.
- Check automatic suffix detection.
- Enter the broker suffix manually if necessary.
### No new trades are opening
- Confirm that Allow new trades is enabled.
- Confirm that Algo Trading is enabled in MetaTrader 5.
- Check spread, session, Friday and rollover restrictions.
- Check maximum total positions and lot limits.
- Check the maximum positions-per-currency limit.
- Review blocked-signal messages in the Experts tab.
- Remember that ANDURIL waits for completed, qualified signal bars.
### A selected lot size does not trade
- Confirm that Maximum lots per FX pair is not below the selected lot size.
- Confirm that Maximum combined open lots allows another position.
- Confirm that Maximum lot per order is zero or high enough.
- Check broker minimum lot and volume-step requirements.
- Check available free margin.
### Duplicate trades appear
- Ensure that ANDURIL is attached to only one chart on the account.
- Remove duplicate EA instances.
- Do not run multiple portfolio copies using the same strategy Magic Numbers.
18. Risk Notice
Trading Forex involves substantial financial risk. No Expert Advisor can guarantee profit or eliminate losses. Historical tests, optimization results and previous live performance do not guarantee future results.
Spreads, commissions, swaps, slippage, liquidity, execution speed, leverage, broker specifications and future market conditions can materially affect performance.
Always test ANDURIL in the Strategy Tester and on a demo account before live use. Select a lot size and portfolio exposure appropriate for the account balance, leverage and personal risk tolerance. The user remains responsible for all trading decisions and financial results.
