FREE — a currency strength meter that ranks the 8 major currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, NZD, CAD, CHF) on your chart, computed from all 28 major crosses.
100% free, no limitations. If it earns a place on your charts, a short review is the one thing that helps us most — it takes 30 seconds and it is what lets other traders find this tool.
Platform: MetaTrader 5 only — there is no MetaTrader 4 edition.
Most "strength" indicators hide their formula. This one is deliberately simple: for every one of the 28 pairs between the 8 majors, it measures the rate of change over your lookback window, then averages each currency's gains against all seven counterparts. Strong currencies rise to the top of the ranking, weak ones sink to the bottom. No smoothing tricks, no black box.
=== WHAT IT SHOWS ===
- A ranked panel of the 8 major currencies, strongest first.
- A horizontal bar and a percentage for each currency: green when it has gained against the basket, red when it has lost.
- The panel refreshes every 10 seconds and on every tick of the chart symbol.
=== HOW TRADERS USE IT ===
The classic use is pairing the strongest currency against the weakest — trends are cleanest when both legs of a pair are pulling in the same direction. It is also a quick filter before an entry: a long on a pair whose base currency sits at the bottom of the ranking is a trade against the tide.
=== SETTINGS ===
- InpLookback (default 24): bars used for the rate-of-change calculation.
- InpTimeframe (default H1): timeframe of the calculation. 24 bars on H1 = strength over the last day.
- InpSuffix: set this if your broker appends a suffix to symbol names (e.g. ".raw" or "m").
- Corner, position, font size and all colours are configurable.
=== HONEST NOTE ===
This is a snapshot of recent momentum, not a prediction. A currency at the top of the ranking has been strong over your lookback window — nothing more. Strength readings flip quickly around news releases, and a meter like this says nothing about where price goes next. Use it as context, not as a signal.
Your Market Watch must contain the 28 major crosses (or at least the pairs you care about); pairs your broker does not offer are simply skipped.
=== WHO THIS IS FOR / NOT FOR ===
Right fit: forex traders who pair a strong currency against a weak one, anyone who wants a sanity check before an entry, and anyone tired of strength meters that will not say how they compute anything — the formula here is published above in full.
Not a fit: traders who want the panel to tell them what to buy, anyone trading only gold, indices or crypto (there is no currency basket to rank), and anyone whose Market Watch does not carry the 28 major crosses.
=== 5-MINUTE CHART CHECK ===
1) Open Market Watch and confirm the 28 major crosses are present. Pairs your broker does not offer are skipped silently, which thins the ranking.
2) If your broker appends a suffix to symbol names (".raw", "m"), set InpSuffix before judging anything. Without it the panel reads from nothing.
3) Attach it to any chart. The default is 24 bars on H1 — strength over roughly the last day.
4) Cross-check one reading by eye: take the top currency and the bottom one, open that pair, and confirm it has been trending the direction the panel implies.
5) Change InpLookback to 8 and then to 72 and watch the ranking reshuffle. That is the point — this is a snapshot of a window you choose, not a forecast.
Readings flip quickly around news releases. Use the panel as context, never as a signal.

=== IF YOU WANT THIS AS AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM ===
If you trade by hand today and want to hand part of the work to rules, without giving up control, this is the EA we built for that:
- AIFW AI Framework (MetaTrader 5 only): https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/196639
A rules engine that trades with no API key (H1 moving-average trend filter, M15 RSI timing, an ATR-based stop loss on every order), plus an optional AI layer: with your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, a language model can propose trades, but only inside the rules' trend direction and stop distances. You can run it in "Propose only" mode and confirm every trade by hand. No performance figures are published: the Strategy Tester cannot call the AI, so any test shows the rules engine only.
Every EA above has a free demo. Run it in the Strategy Tester with the settings listed at the top of its page before you decide. These are backtest figures, not live trading results, and they do not guarantee future performance.
If this tool is useful in your trading, a short review on this page would help, good or bad, including anything you would like improved. It helps other traders decide and tells us what to fix next.
