=== START HERE ===
1) Read the RISK WARNING below before anything else.
2) Attach the EA to a XAUUSD M30 chart — on any other chart it will place no trades.
3) Test the free demo in the Strategy Tester first.
4) Independent forward results: see “INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION (FXEA365)” below.
5) Platform: MetaTrader 4 (this page). MetaTrader 5 edition: https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/182297
MT4 EDITION — This is the MetaTrader 4 build of Gold Viper Breakout, version 2.35, with the same two engines as the MT5 edition (the volatility-regime breakout engine and the eight fractal stop-order strategies). An MT5 edition is published separately on this account. The MetaTrader 5 build additionally offers a USD-denominated basket stop and take-profit and a broker volume-limit clamp; this build does not. The risk-tier table below was measured on MetaTrader 5 with Exness tick history (history quality 8%, not a 100% real-tick test). This MT4 build was tested separately in the MT4 Strategy Tester (every tick generated from Dukascopy M1 data, modelling quality 90% — not real ticks; XAUUSD M30, 2019.01-2026.07, spread 16 pips, $10,000, compounding): Defensive +2,737% / PF 1.58 / equity drawdown 22.0% / 2,734 trades; Standard (= Ultra) +7,672% / PF 1.39 / equity drawdown 30.7% / 2,732 trades; Aggressive +105,651% / PF 1.46 / equity drawdown 41.6% / 2,734 trades. Results on your broker will differ, because tick model, spread and execution differ between platforms and brokers.
IMPORTANT — attach the EA to a XAUUSD M30 chart. The strategy reads that timeframe; on any other chart it will simply place no trades. If you are testing the free demo in the Strategy Tester, set the symbol and timeframe to XAUUSD M30 or you will see zero trades.
GOLD VIPER is an automated trading system for gold (XAUUSD) on the M30 timeframe. It trades only volatility-expansion regimes: it waits for a decisive breakout of the recent channel while a clear EMA50/200 trend is in force, then manages the position with an ATR-scaled group take-profit and a group stop-loss. On adverse moves it may add same-size recovery grid entries (no martingale) — the group stop always caps the whole basket. This is a full volatility-regime breakout engine, verified on three independent real-tick feeds and an in-sample / out-of-sample split. Since v2.35 a SECOND, independent engine runs alongside it: eight D1/H4 fractal stop-order strategies with ATR-scaled stops and targets, R-based trailing and H1 fractal stop sync, each under its own magic number and its own per-order risk (FB_RiskPercent, default 0.5%). The combined system is verified on 7.7 years of Exness tick history (2019-2026, history quality 8%).
RISK WARNING FIRST — MORE RISK IS MOSTLY MORE DRAWDOWN: Most systems tell you that turning risk up buys you more profit. Here it buys you a deeper hole first. Measured on the combined v2.35 system (Exness tick history 2019-2026, below), stepping from Standard to Aggressive (2x) leaves the profit factor unchanged (1.51 vs 1.52) while the relative balance drawdown jumps from 25% to 38% and the worst single loss grows tenfold. Stepping DOWN to Defensive gives the best profit factor of all four tiers (1.74) with an 18% drawdown. That is why the published default is Standard-level risk and why we suggest Defensive for a first live month. We publish the real numbers even when they say "don't push harder." All backtests below are historical, not a live track record.
FOUR RISK TIERS — ONE DROPDOWN, SAME SIGNALS IN BOTH ENGINES (v2.35 combined system, backtest on Exness tick history (history quality 8%), MT5 Strategy Tester, Exness XAUUSDm M30, 2019.01-2026.09 = 7.7 years, $10,000, leverage 1:500, compounding, RunMode is the only input changed):
- Defensive: +1,589% / Profit Factor 1.74 / relative balance drawdown 17.8% (equity drawdown 21.3%) / 2,819 trades / win rate 55.0%
- Standard (RECOMMENDED — the risk level the EA runs at out of the box): +9,125% / Profit Factor 1.51 / relative balance drawdown 25.4% (equity drawdown 30.8%) / 2,806 trades / win rate 54.8%
- Aggressive (2x, shown for transparency): +74,279% / Profit Factor 1.52 / relative balance drawdown 38.4% (equity drawdown 39.9%) / 2,811 trades / win rate 54.7%
- Ultra (the dropdown position the EA ships in): identical to Standard — Ultra IS Standard on this EA
Read the Aggressive line with care: the huge percentage is pure compounding on a $10,000 start over 7.7 years, not skill — the profit factor does not improve at all, the drawdown deepens by 13 points, and the largest single loss is 10x the Standard one. The second engine also hits its lot cap (FB_MaxLot, default 5.0) early in Aggressive, so what is really being scaled is the breakout engine alone. Standard is the balanced default; Defensive is the most efficient tier and the one we recommend for your first live month. Previous versions (single engine, 22.5 years 2004-2026) measured +795% Defensive / +3,456% Standard / +3,029% Aggressive; those figures no longer describe v2.35 and are retired.
This is a tool. It does not promise profit. Automated trading carries real risk, and even at its peak this system rides gold's volatility through deep equity swings. Please read the whole description, understand that raising risk here reduces return, and size your account accordingly before going live.
HOW IT WORKS
1) Regime filter — Trade only when volatility is expanding
The EA trades only volatility-expansion regimes: fast ATR / slow ATR must be at least 1.2, together with a clear EMA50/200 trend (|EMA gap| >= 0.5 x ATR). Quiet, directionless markets are skipped entirely. This is what keeps GOLD VIPER out of the ranging conditions that punish breakout systems.
2) Entry — Confirmed channel breakout with the trend
Entries are taken on a closed-bar breakout of the 32-bar M30 channel with an ATR margin, in the direction of the established EMA trend (both buy and sell are enabled). The ATR margin filters marginal pokes through the band and requires the breakout to be decisive.
3) Exit — ATR group take-profit and a group stop
The basket is closed with an ATR-scaled group take-profit (ATR x 3.0) and a group stop-loss (ATR x 1.5), monitored every tick. This group stop is executed by the EA itself: the breakout engine sends no stop loss to the broker server, so a basket is protected only while the EA is running — keep it on a VPS or a 24/5 machine. The fractal strategies send their stop loss and take-profit to the broker server with every order.
4) Recovery grid — same size, NO martingale
On an adverse move the EA may add same-size recovery grid entries (maximum 5). Lot size never doubles — this is not a martingale — and the group stop-loss always caps the entire basket, in calm and wild markets alike.
5) Position sizing — volatility-normalized
Lot size is volatility-normalized so that a group-SL hit costs a fixed percent of balance (default 3%) whether the market is calm or wild. The Run-Mode dropdown scales that risk percentage; the signal itself is identical across all modes.
6) Second engine — eight fractal stop-order strategies (v2.35, always on)
Independently of the breakout engine, eight D1/H4 fractal strategies place stop orders at confirmed fractal levels with ATR-scaled stop-loss and take-profit, R-based trailing and an H1 fractal stop sync. Each strategy has its own magic number (FB_MagicBase..+7) and its own per-order risk (FB_RiskPercent, default 0.5% of balance, capped by FB_MaxLot). The engine pauses around NFP, reserves free margin for its pending orders and deletes pendings it can no longer afford. In the 7.7-year Standard test it contributed about 87% of the net profit (2,565 of 2,806 entries), and its stand-alone curve had a 29% drawdown. AllowBuy / AllowSell restrict BOTH engines to long-only or short-only.
RUN-MODE: ONE DROPDOWN FOR RISK — BOTH ENGINES FOLLOW IT
GOLD VIPER includes a Run-Mode selector with four settings — the measured numbers for each are in the table above. The multiplier applies to the breakout engine's RiskPercent and to the second engine's FB_RiskPercent alike; the entry and exit signals are identical in every mode:
- Defensive: half risk — best profit factor (1.74), 18% drawdown; recommended for the first live month and for capital preservation
- Standard: the balanced profile and the published default (Ultra = Standard)
- Aggressive: 2x risk — same profit factor, 38% relative drawdown, tenfold worst loss, second engine capped by FB_MaxLot; provided so you can verify the numbers yourself, not because we recommend it
- Ultra (the dropdown position the EA ships in): identical to Standard on this EA — no hidden extra risk
Note: the monthly loss breaker (MonthlyStop) covers the breakout engine only, and it and the regime sizing switch off above Standard risk. That is one more reason not to run Aggressive.
BUILT-IN PROTECTION & MONITORING
- Broker-agnostic: dynamic symbol spec, free-margin check, and a margin emergency close (150%)
- Group stop-loss on every basket, executed by the EA (no broker-side stop on breakout baskets); recovery grid is same-size, never martingale
- Session and weekday filters, plus rule-based news avoidance around the main US releases (NFP, FOMC, CPI). MT4 has no built-in economic calendar, so the release schedule is computed inside the EA; no external connection required. Set EconFilter_ServerGMTOffset to your broker's server GMT offset
- On-chart dashboard: balance, equity, margin level, P&L, drawdown, spread and the next high-impact event, with a pause button
- Push and email notifications for opens, closes and margin warnings
RECOMMENDED SETUP
- Symbol: Gold (XAUUSD / GOLD / XAUUSDm — uses the chart symbol)
- Timeframe: M30
- Account: leverage 1:200 or higher; $1,000 or more (a cent/micro account works for smaller balances). The second engine keeps several pending stop orders open at once, so the account must allow at least 16 simultaneous orders and the broker's pending-order margin must be available
- VPS or an always-on PC is recommended so the EA runs without interruption
- Run-Mode: the published default is Standard-level (Ultra = Standard). Step DOWN to Defensive for your first live month or if you want the best profit factor; stepping up to Aggressive only deepens the drawdown.
KEY INPUTS
- RunMode: Defensive / Standard / Aggressive / Ultra (default = Standard-level; scales both engines)
- AllowBuy / AllowSell: restrict both engines to one direction (v2.35)
- FB_RiskPercent / FB_MaxLot / FB_RunS1..S8 / FB_NfpPause: second engine risk per order, lot cap, per-strategy on/off, NFP pause
- RiskPercent / MaxLot: position sizing and lot cap
- Lookback: M30 breakout channel length (default 32 bars)
- ATRPeriod: ATR period
- TP (ATR x 3.0) and SL (ATR x 1.5): group take-profit and group stop distances
- VolRatioGate: volatility-expansion gate (fast/slow ATR, default 1.2)
- EMA trend filter (EMA50 / EMA200) and |EMA gap| threshold
- MaxGridEntries: same-size recovery grid cap (default 5, no martingale)
- TradeLong, TradeShort: enable long / short
- Session/weekday filter, news filter, weekend-close and notification settings
=== WHO THIS IS FOR / NOT FOR ===
Right fit: traders who want a rule-based XAUUSD M30 breakout system with a group stop, who will run it on a demo or small live account for at least one month before scaling, who accept that a recovery grid means basket drawdowns of several percent, and who will leave Run-Mode at Standard.
Not a fit: anyone who needs trades every day (the regime filter keeps the EA flat for long stretches), anyone who plans to push Run-Mode to Aggressive to "make it back", anyone who cannot tolerate a losing month, and anyone without a VPS or a 24/5 machine for an M30 basket strategy.
=== HOW TO TEST GOLD VIPER PROPERLY (DEMO CHECKLIST) ===
The free demo is downloaded far more often than it is tested correctly. A quick run with default tester settings usually shows a short, noisy sample that says nothing about the system. To reproduce our published figures, use these conditions in the Strategy Tester:
- Symbol: XAUUSD, chart timeframe M30 (on any other timeframe the EA places no trades)
- Modelling: every tick based on real ticks (MT5) / imported real tick data (MT4). Never "Open prices only"
- Period: 2019 to today (the v2.35 figures above are measured on 2019.01-2026.09; a longer period tests the breakout engine only on brokers without older H4/D1 fractal history)
- Deposit: 10,000 USD, leverage 1:200 or higher, spread: current
- Inputs: leave the defaults, RunMode = Standard (Ultra) — or Defensive to reproduce the 1.74 profit-factor line
If your result differs a lot from ours, the usual causes are a short period, "Open prices only" modelling, or a feed without real-tick history. Send a screenshot through the built-in chat and we will look at it together.
A NOTE ON REVIEWS
After you have run GOLD VIPER on a demo or live account for at least one month, please leave a review, good or bad. Honest feedback helps other traders judge the product and tells us what to improve next.
IMPORTANT RISK DISCLOSURE
This product is a software tool for automated order execution. It is not investment advice and does not manage your funds. No trading system can guarantee profit, and past performance — including any backtest — does not guarantee future results. This is a two-engine system: a volatility-regime breakout engine with a same-size recovery grid, plus eight fractal stop-order strategies; extended ranges can produce consecutive group-SL hits, and even at Standard the relative equity drawdown reached 30.8% over 7.7 years of Exness tick history (39.9% measured in Aggressive, 21.3% in Defensive). Raising risk on this system does not improve the profit factor and deepens the drawdown, so there is no upside to pushing beyond the default — if anything, start on a demo account and consider stepping DOWN to Defensive. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.

FORWARD MONITORING (demo account, self-reported)
We run the MT5 version of this EA on a live demo account (Exness, shipping default preset) and publish the raw result, including when it is flat or losing. Current figures, refreshed daily from Myfxbook: https://fxea365.com/en/forward-test . Snapshot as of 2026-09-26: started 2026-07-25, 1 trade so far (a win, closed late August 2026), account +6.93%. Note: this account still runs v2.31 - it has not been switched to the current v2.35 engine, so its figures do not show v2.35 behaviour. A single trade says nothing about the edge either way. Demo forward results are not verified by a third party and are not a guarantee of future performance.

=== INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION (FXEA365) ===
We publish this EA's full verification record on our own site - the same
backtest, the out-of-sample split, and equity drawdown (not the flattering balance
drawdown).
