Someone asked me in a private message how to take a setup from start to entry with only an hour or two to trade after work. Here is one, start to finish, on my own indicator, Nexus Order Block Workspace (link at the end of the post), with the tool that decides each step. XAUUSD, August 18–19; times as on the chart axis.
Start of the day: bias on H4
I start the day on H4. The bias comes from the trend dashboard and SmartTrail: the H1, H4 and D1 dots are green, the SmartTrail cloud is below price — today I look for longs only. A fresh CHoCH down is not a short but uncertainty: I wait to see if bullish order blocks confirm the long.
Where I'm interested: a bullish H4 order block with the trend, within a session's reach. That's what I work from.
Zone touch: dropping to M15
In the evening price touched the zone. A touch is not a signal yet. I drop to M15, and the MTF Order Block selector carries the H4 zone down. Longs only; the stop goes beyond the H4 block.
Overnight inside the zone: a structure break up and a bullish FVG. No entry yet: SmartTrail is bearish, and two local bearish order blocks sit above price. I wait for two things: a SmartTrail long signal and a break of those blocks.
Waiting: the blocks break one by one
At 05:15 the lower block breaks. The indicator erases broken blocks by default; the grey outline is mine. The upper block holds, SmartTrail still points down.
In the morning price pulled back to a local bullish M15 order block, tested it and didn't break it; by 11:00 structure broke up again. One more confirmation that a long is possible. No entry yet: SmartTrail is bearish.
At 13:15 the upper block breaks too, eight hours after the first.
Waiting away from the screen

You don't have to sit at the screen all that time: more than half a day passed from the zone touch to the entry. The indicator's alerts fire on closed bars — structure change, SmartTrail side change, order block retest, zone touch — and can reach your phone: Tools → Options → Notifications, your MetaQuotes ID. The frame shows real alerts in the terminal, September 28.
Entry
At 14:00 SmartTrail prints “B”. Everything lines up: H4 bias long, H4 zone tested, a break up and an FVG on M15, both bearish blocks broken, SmartTrail turned. That's the entry. The stop goes beyond the H4 block (the red SL line is my mark).
Managing the trade
The impulse came an hour and a half later, after the entry. From here SmartTrail manages the trade: its stop follows price up.
The setup that didn't work
August 13, a different H4 zone. Price came into the zone and M15 structure broke up — the first steps check out.
But SmartTrail stayed bearish, no “B”. Price turned before reaching the bearish block above it, and from the top of the turn the indicator drew a new one — “OB M15” on the frame. Conditions not met, no entry.
By evening price closed below the zone, where the stop would have been. This time waiting kept me out of the trade. But even with every “yes”, stops sometimes get hit: order won't save you from losing trades, it caps the loss in advance — the decision is made before the entry, not after.
This is an analysis tool, not trading advice: the decision is yours. You can walk through these steps on your own instrument in the Strategy Tester — the indicator has a demo.
