What is the True Strength Index (TSI)?

The True Strength Index (TSI) is a momentum oscillator developed by William Blau. It applies double exponential smoothing to price momentum (the difference between the current and previous close), which effectively filters out market noise and reveals the underlying trend direction.

TSI oscillates between -100 and +100 and consists of two lines: the TSI Main line and a Signal line (a moving average of the TSI). Positive values indicate bullish momentum, negative values indicate bearish momentum. Crossovers between the two lines and movements through the High/Low levels are the primary trading signals.

• Levels Settings:
  • Level configuration: Toggle visibility, set High/Low boundaries (default: +25 / -25), optional Middle level display.
  • Level appearance: Customize color, style, and width.
• Signal Settings:
  • Signal triggers: Configure 3 independent signals with detection types (direction change, line cross, level crossings, peak/valley).
  • Visual markers: Arrows and vertical lines with customizable size, style, position, Wingdings codes, and colors.
• Alert Settings:
  • Alert configuration: Timing (Off/After close/Before close/Both), interval limit, time range filter.
  • Delivery methods: Email, push notification, popup, sound with file selection.
