SIO Oscillator: Self-Optimizing Semivariance Imbalance Oscillator

Most oscillators treat all price movement the same. SIO separates upside and downside market pressure and measures the imbalance between them, showing which side is really in control: buyers or sellers. When the imbalance reaches an extreme, SIO prints a clear signal with entry, Stop Loss and Take Profit levels.

What makes SIO different is that it doesn’t rely on fixed settings. A built-in self-optimizer continuously searches for the parameters that work on the current symbol and timeframe, and validates them before using them.

Two Signal Modes

  • Mean Reversion: trades extremes of the imbalance, expecting a return toward balance.
  • Trend Following: trades in the direction of a dominant, persistent imbalance.
  • Auto mode: the optimizer selects the mode that performs better on recent data.

Self-Optimizer with Real Validation

  • Walk-forward optimization: parameters are chosen on past data only, then applied to the bars that follow.
  • True hold-out period: results are confirmed on data the optimizer never trained on.
  • Plateau map: a visual heat map of all tested settings. SIO prefers stable zones of good results over single lucky peaks, which reduces curve-fitting.
  • A statistical significance check shows whether the edge is meaningful or likely just noise.

Built-in Trade Simulation and Statistics

  • ATR-based Stop Loss and Take Profit, close on opposite signal, and time-based exit.
  • Live panel with Win Rate, Profit Factor, Net Pips, number of trades, Average Win/Loss, Expectancy, Max Drawdown and exit breakdown (TP/SL/Opposite/Time).
  • Equity curve of the active settings, drawn directly on the chart.

Recommendations
