Northline Prop Copier is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that copies trades from one account (the master) to other accounts on the same PC or VPS (the slaves). Each slave checks every copy against the rules of its own prop firm program before sending it. This guide explains how to install it, how to read the panel, and what each protection does.

1. What you need

  • One MetaTrader 5 terminal per account, on the same PC or VPS. MetaTrader 5 connects one account per terminal: install it in separate folders, or copy the installation folder and start it with the /portable switch.
  • The EA in each terminal (one purchase covers master and slaves, 10 activations).
  • Algo Trading enabled in every terminal.

Before you start, check the rules of your prop firm: many firms forbid copying trades from or to other people's accounts, and some limit copying between your own accounts. Northline Prop Copier has no feature to hide copying.

2. Installation (5 minutes)

Master — on the account that trades:

  1. Open one chart (any symbol) and drag Northline Prop Copier onto it.
  2. Inputs: Role = Master, Channel name = main (or any name). That's all: the master publishes its positions and pending orders. It never re-sends the copies made by slaves (they carry the copier magic number).

Slaves — on each prop account:

  1. Open one chart and drag Northline Prop Copier onto it.
  2. Inputs: Role = Slave, the same channel name as the master.
  3. Lot size mode and Value:
    • Fixed lot — always the same lot (Value = lots).
    • Multiplier — master lot × Value.
    • Equity ratio — master lot × (slave equity / master equity) × Value. Both accounts must use the same currency.
    • Risk % — Value % of the slave equity, computed from the stop-loss of the master trade (trades without a stop-loss cannot be sized this way).
  4. Prop firm program, Account phase, Account size (0 = detected from the first deposit) and the safety margins above the daily and max-loss limits.
  5. If the broker names differ, fill the symbol map (example: GER40.cash=DE40;XAUUSD=GOLD ) or the prefix / suffix fields.

The panel of the slave must show Master live within a second.

3. Reading the panel

Master panel — the channel, the account and the number of open trades published.

Slave panel

  • Status line: Master live, or why copies are on hold (no data yet, master silent for 10 s, master disconnected, master EA stopped, another master account on the channel).
  • copied / refused — counters since the EA started.
  • The program and phase of the account.
  • Room — money left before the daily line and the max-loss line (the firm's limit plus your safety margin).
  • Recent events — every copy, partial close, reduced lot, refusal and its reason.

4. What is copied

  • New market positions and pending orders (limit, stop, stop-limit) on hedging accounts. On a netting slave, positions only.
  • Stop-loss and take-profit changes, price changes of pending orders.
  • Partial closes: the copy is reduced in proportion (master 0.20 → 0.10 means copy 1.85 → 0.93).
  • Full closes and deleted orders.
  • A trade that is too old (Do not open a copy older than, default 30 s) or whose price moved too far (Do not open if the price moved more than) when the slave sees it is not opened — useful when a slave starts after the master already traded.

A copy closed on the slave (its stop-loss was hit, or you closed it by hand) is never re-opened.

5. The protection of each slave

Before every new exposure (new copy, added volume), the slave adds up the worst case: what the account loses if every open stop-loss and pending order is hit, commissions included. The new copy can only use the room that is left before the protection line.

  • Copy that would cross the protection line = Reduce the lot to the safe maximum: the lot is reduced to the largest safe lot (example from the demo: 1.85 → 1.28).
  • Copy that would cross the protection line = Skip the copy: the copy is refused.
  • No room at all: the copy is refused with the reason (example: only 1.62 EUR left before the protection line).
  • Refuse copies without stop-loss (default on): a master trade without a stop-loss is refused — its worst case is unlimited.
  • A stop-loss moved wider on the master is not copied if the extra risk does not fit in the room left; a tighter stop-loss is always copied.
  • Daily or max-loss line reached: no new copy until the reset. With Close the copies when a protection line is reached, every copy is closed.
  • Protection not armed (account size unknown, history not loaded yet): copies wait; nothing is closed.

6. When something goes wrong

  • The master stops (terminal closed, EA removed, no update for 10 s): slaves show it and do nothing. They never close a copy because the master went quiet. When the master comes back, slaves catch up with its current state.
  • A slave restarts: its memory is saved in a file; it recognises its copies and never opens a second one.
  • Broker timeout on a copy that was actually filled: the copy is recognised at the next cycle, not opened twice.
  • Copies without link (for example the slave memory file was deleted): new copies are paused and a notification asks you to close them or restore the file.

7. Netting accounts

A netting slave holds one position per symbol. Each master trade owns a share of it; changes are sent as net orders. A stop-loss hit on the slave never makes the copy flip to the other side. If a position on the same symbol was opened by hand on the netting slave, the copier leaves that symbol alone.

8. Strategy Tester

In the tester there is no master: the EA simulates one that opens one demonstration trade per day, so that you can watch the slave, its lot sizing and its prop checks. It is not a trading strategy.

9. Honest note

Northline Prop Copier is a copier with a risk check. It does not trade for you and does not promise any profit. It is not affiliated with any prop firm. Prices differ between brokers; slippage, gaps or a disconnected terminal can still produce a larger loss — this is why your safety margins exist. Keep every terminal running (a VPS is recommended).
