The problem with currency strength meters

Traditional currency strength tools answer one question: "which currency is strong right now?" That is useful, but it is static. By the time you notice EUR is strong, the move may already be done.

Momentum Radar answers a different question: "which pair just started moving unusually fast?" The distinction between static strength and dynamic acceleration is what separates late entries from early ones.

How it works

For each of the 28+ monitored symbols, the indicator calculates a composite momentum score (0-100) every second using four components:

• RSI (30%) — Relative strength index, normalized to the 0-100 range. Captures directional pressure.
• Momentum (40%) — Rate of price change over N bars, normalized. The primary driver of the score.
• ATR ratio (15%) — Current ATR versus its 100-bar average. Detects when volatility is abnormally high.
• Volume ratio (15%) — Current tick volume versus its 20-bar average. Confirms that the move has participation.

On top of this, the indicator tracks momentum delta (how the score changed over the last N bars) and momentum acceleration (the rate of change of the delta itself). Acceleration is what tells you whether momentum is building or fading.

Spike detection

A spike alert fires when three conditions are met simultaneously:

• Momentum score crosses above 85 or below 15
• Current ATR exceeds 2x its 100-bar average
• Current tick volume exceeds 2x its 20-bar average

Alerts include hysteresis protection: after firing, the same alert type for the same pair will not fire again until the score retreats by at least 10 points and a 5-minute cooldown passes. This eliminates the alert spam common with other tools.

Smart pair finder

The indicator continuously ranks all 9 currencies by strength. It identifies the strongest versus the weakest and suggests the corresponding pair. Click the suggestion and your chart instantly switches to that pair.

If the direct pair does not exist (for example, XAU vs GBP), the finder automatically searches for the next available combination.

Multi-timeframe heatmap

The MTF heatmap shows momentum scores for the top 8 pairs across four timeframes (M15, H1, H4, D1) in a color-coded matrix. When all four timeframes align in the same direction, the confluence signal is significantly stronger.

Each cell uses a tinted background color — green for high momentum, yellow for neutral, red for low — making patterns visible at a glance without reading numbers.

Currency strength delta

Track 9 currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, NZD, CHF, XAU) with both current strength value and the change in strength over the selected period. This tells you not just who is strong, but who is getting stronger.

Momentum/price divergence

Detects when momentum direction contradicts price direction over the configured lookback period. Bullish divergence: price falling but momentum rising. Bearish divergence: price rising but momentum falling. These are classic signals for potential reversals.

Since every broker uses different naming conventions, you type the exact symbol name as it appears in your Market Watch. The indicator validates it on load and adds it to the scanner.

Installation
