Trading Robot (Expert Advisor) for MetaTrader that combines trend-based position opening, averaging during pullbacks, automatic breakeven protection, trailing stop, and closing a series of trades with a controlled minimum profit.
VR Proton is not just a “signal-based Expert Advisor.” It is a complete position-series management system that automatically decides when to add a trade, when to protect profit with a breakeven stop, when to move the protective level along with the price, and when to exit at the average level with a predefined profit buffer.
Settings, set files, bonuses, and the demo version of the product are available in the author's profile.
Why This Robot May Be Interesting
Manually managing multiple trades on the same instrument is one of the most difficult tasks in trading. While a trader is monitoring one position, another may move into loss; while calculating the average price of a series, the market may already have reversed. Emotions, fear of losses, and greed can lead to decisions that become costly later.
VR Proton takes over the routine work of managing trades:
- the robot opens positions in the direction of the market movement;
- if the price moves against the series, it does not immediately close at a loss, but manages the situation through averaging;
- when the series moves into profit, it protects the profit with a breakeven stop;
- as the trend continues, it moves protective levels along with the price (trailing stop);
- and at the appropriate moment, it brings the “outer” trades of the series into profit through an averaged profit-taking level.
All of this happens automatically according to predefined rules, without emotions and without the need to sit in front of the screen. The trader only needs to configure the parameters once according to their risk tolerance and monitor the results through the built-in information panel.
How the Strategy Works
The strategy is built around a simple but powerful idea: instead of fighting the market movement, use it in both directions — with the trend and against the trend through averaging.
The robot manages two independent position series — BUY and SELL (each can be enabled or disabled separately). The process works as follows.
When the price moves confidently, the robot opens trades in the direction of the trend. Each subsequent position is opened after the previous one has moved into profit and has been protected.
If the price reverses and moves against the open series, the robot does not panic and does not immediately realize a loss. When the market reaches a specified distance from the outermost position, it adds an averaging trade at a more favorable price, thereby reducing the average entry price of the series.
When the number of open trades reaches the specified threshold, the averaged exit mechanism comes into play: the robot calculates the weighted average price of the outer positions in the series, adds a minimum profit buffer, and sets a Take Profit. When the price recovers, these trades are closed in profit, while the robot continues managing the remaining positions.
At the same time, profit protection is active: positions that move into profit by the specified distance are automatically moved to breakeven — the Stop Loss is placed slightly above the opening price for BUY positions or slightly below it for SELL positions. As the trend continues, the trailing stop takes over, moving the protective level along with the price and locking in accumulated profit.
Therefore, profit is generated from two sources:
- closing averaged “pairs” of positions at a level with a built-in minimum profit;
- holding and gradually securing profit on trend positions through breakeven protection and trailing.
Important: the robot does not use indicators or external calculations. It is based on analyzing actual price movement and disciplined management of its own position series.
Key Features
- Trend-based BUY and SELL series opening — each series operates independently, opens in the direction of the trend, and its direction can be configured separately.
- Averaging during pullbacks — additional trades are opened at more favorable prices when the market moves against the series, reducing the average entry price instead of immediately realizing a loss.
- Gradual increase of the averaging distance — the more trades are opened against the trend, the farther the robot waits for the next entry point, preventing the series from becoming overloaded with positions too quickly.
- Automatic breakeven protection — positions that move into profit by the specified distance receive a Stop Loss above or below the opening price.
- Four types of trailing stop — classic fixed, dynamic (percentage-based), and dynamic “Extra” with adaptive distance compression as the trend develops; each direction can be configured separately.
- Averaged exit with minimum profit — when the specified position-count threshold is reached, the robot sets a Take Profit on the outer trades of the series at the average entry price plus a guaranteed profit buffer in points.
- Individual lot management — the initial lot for BUY and SELL is configured separately; the lot size of averaging trades is controlled by a separate multiplier after the series threshold is reached.
- New bar filter — the ability to execute trading actions only when a new bar appears on the selected timeframe, helping to reduce excessive trades caused by market noise.
- Information panel on the chart — balance, equity, free margin (floating), drawdown, and position results in real time.
- Event notifications — pop-up windows, e-mail, Push notifications to a smartphone, and Telegram alerts: instant notifications about the opening, modification, and closing of each trade.
- Management of “foreign” positions — Magic Number separates the robot's trades from any other positions on the trading account.
- Automatic pre-trade checks — margin control, minimum/maximum lot checks, broker volume limits, freeze level, and minimum stop-distance requirements.
- MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 compatibility — a unified set of settings for both platforms.
- English and Russian localization — interface, notifications, and comments are available in the selected language.
Risk Management
VR Proton includes several levels of protection, and some of them are important to describe honestly.
What helps limit risk:
- Breakeven stop — the main “safety cushion” of the strategy: profitable positions cannot return to a loss, as the stop level is fixed around the opening price.
- Trailing stop — as the trend develops, the protective level follows the price, gradually locking in profit.
- Minimum profit for series closure — the averaged exit is calculated with a predefined profit buffer in points rather than simply closing at breakeven.
- Margin and limit control — the robot will not open a trade if there is insufficient free margin, if the lot size is outside the broker's allowed range, or if the symbol volume limit would be exceeded.
- New bar filter — reduces the frequency of trading actions and helps protect against trading on intrabar noise.
- Mathematical normalization — all Stop Loss and Take Profit levels are calculated according to the instrument's trading rules, taking into account minimum distances and the server freeze level.
Who Is This Robot For?
VR Proton is designed for traders who like the idea of “staying connected to the market”: the strategy operates in both directions and manages a series of trades rather than individual positions. It may be of interest to traders who:
- are tired of manually managing multiple trades and want to delegate this task to an algorithm with clearly defined rules;
- make trading decisions emotionally and are looking for disciplined automation;
- follow an averaging approach and understand its nature, including the associated risks;
- want to configure the strategy flexibly according to their trading style: separately by direction, lot size, distance, and trailing type;
- prefer to test the idea on historical data in the Strategy Tester and on a demo account before trading with real funds.
