OMG Market Heat — Multi-Symbol Volatility & Breakout Scanner
OMG Market Heat is a dashboard indicator that scans up to 50 symbols at once and shows how "hot" each market is right now on the M15, H1, H4 or D1 timeframe. At a glance you see which symbols are moving strongly, which ones are waking up after a quiet period and which ones are asleep — so you spend your time only on markets that are worth trading.
It works with Forex, Gold, indices and crypto, and is designed for manual trading.
How does it work?
For every symbol the indicator compares its recent volatility (the average true range of the last 5 candles) with its normal level (the average true range of the last 100 candles) on the selected timeframe. The result is shown as volatility %: 0% means the symbol is moving at its usual pace, +50% means it is moving one and a half times faster than usual, and a negative value means it is quieter than usual. The live candle is taken into account as soon as it is wider than the oldest candle of the window, so the value reacts in real time. The symbols are then classified into four regimes:
- HOT (orange) — volatility above your threshold (20%, 30% or 50%); the market is moving fast
- ACTIVE (yellow) — volatility above normal but below the threshold
- QUIET (gray) — volatility below normal; the market is resting or ranging
- BREAKOUT (violet) — the symbol was QUIET for at least 6 candles (dipping to −15% or lower) and its volatility is now back above normal: the market is waking up. The row is marked with a violet stripe and badge during the breakout candle and the next one.
What else the panel shows
- A small arrow next to the volatility % showing whether volatility rose or fell since the previous candle
- A level gauge scaled to the most volatile symbol on the list, with your threshold marked on it
- Regime dots for M15, H1, H4 and D1 side by side — see immediately whether all timeframes agree
- Move — the price change % over the last 5 candles, with its direction
- ADR — how much of its 14-day average daily range the symbol has already used today (highlighted above 100%)
- News — countdown to the next economic event for the symbol's currencies, taken live from the MQL5 economic calendar. You choose the minimum importance: Low (all news), Medium or High. The next event for all scanned currencies is also shown at the bottom of the panel.
Features
- Scans 30 or 50 symbols from the Market Watch or from your own comma-separated list; broker suffixes (for example EURUSD → EURUSD.p) are found automatically
- One-click timeframe buttons (M15, H1, H4, D1); your choice is kept when you change the chart's symbol or timeframe
- Click a column title to sort by symbol, volatility or move; mark symbols with a star to keep your favorites always on top
- Click the arrow next to a symbol to switch the chart to that symbol instantly
- Drag the panel by its title bar; dark and light theme, Standard and Large size, a wide symbol column for long names, minimize and close buttons
- Optional popup and mobile push alerts for the top 3 / 5 / 10 HOT symbols and for breakouts, with a 1-hour or 4-hour pause per symbol so you are not flooded with messages
- Lightweight: the panel is refreshed on a timer, never on every tick, so it does not slow down your terminal
Tip: attach the indicator to a separate chart, because the symbol arrows switch the symbol of the chart the panel is on. The news column needs the calendar to be enabled in Tools → Options → Server ("Enable news"). In the Strategy Tester only the tested symbol is scanned and the news column is not available.
Note: This indicator is an analysis tool and does not constitute investment advice on its own. Past behavior is not indicative of future results; it is recommended to evaluate your trading decisions together with your own risk management.
