----------- IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE WE BEGIN -----------
There are three key things to consider before proceeding.
Firstly — a TRIAL version is available but limited to demo accounts. If you want to observe the EA in operation without any cost, get in touch and I will provide it free of charge. No commitments required.
Secondly — please contact me before you BACKTEST this EA. Using the standard MetaTrader backtesting tool might produce inaccurate results. I offer a special configuration file and a detailed guide to help you conduct meaningful tests and draw valid conclusions. Don’t run a test without consulting first.
----------- ABOUT THE SYSTEM -----------
"Swing Titan is built on one idea: trade the swing, not the noise. It waits for a price swing to finish, decides whether the next leg is worth taking, and then manages that trade by rules that were fixed in advance. Nothing is left to a decision made in the moment."
This EA functions on a single chart. This is intentional and not a restriction. The entire strategy is self-contained within that one chart. All aspects such as swing detection, trade management, session filtering, and execution are handled through a single instance attached to XAUUSD at M30.
----------- THE SWING TRADING METHOD -----------
A swing is the move from one turning point to the next. Price rises, pauses, and falls — or the other way around. Scalpers try to catch the small fluctuations inside that move. Swing Titan does the opposite. It studies the completed swings, and it only acts when a new swing leg is clearly offered.
The method works in four steps, and each step has to pass before an order is sent.
1. Map the swings. The EA reads the chart as a sequence of swings rather than as a stack of indicator signals. It marks where the last swing began, where it ended, and whether the structure is still forming. An unfinished swing is not a trade.
2. Wait for the pattern to close. Entry is allowed only after the swing structure completes in a way the rules already recognize. The EA is looking for a repeatable price pattern — a shape of highs and lows — not for a candle that simply looks strong. If the pattern is messy, overlapping, or still building, the chart is left alone.
3. Trade the next leg, with the exit already defined. When a pattern qualifies, the order is placed in the direction of the next expected swing. The stop is set beyond the swing that would prove the idea wrong. The target is set at the next logical swing objective. Both are decided before the trade exists, so the EA is not inventing an exit while the position is open.
4. Sit through the swing, then stand down. The trade is held for the swing, not scratched at the first pullback. Once that leg is complete — target, stop, or a protection rule — the EA returns to waiting. It does not immediately replace a closed trade with a new one unless a fresh swing pattern is there.
That patience is the method. Most of the time the correct action on a swing chart is to do nothing. Swing Titan is written to do nothing until the swing is actually there.
----------- WHAT MAKES THIS EA DIFFERENT -----------
Many automated systems fire because an oscillator crossed a line. Those crosses arrive late, they cluster in the same place, and they keep firing inside a range. This EA starts from the swing itself.
The pattern is the signal. A swing pattern is a statement about structure: where price turned, how far it traveled, and whether the next turn is in place. It does not need five indicators to agree with each other. Optional filters — RSI, and Bull and Bear Power — can be switched on to confirm that momentum agrees with the swing. They are confirmations. They are not the reason the trade exists.
It is selective on purpose. Wide spreads, unfinished patterns, a daily loss limit already hit, or a news window still open all mean the same thing: no order. A swing system that trades every bar has stopped being a swing system.
One chart carries the whole strategy. Detection, filters, stops, targets, and the protection rules all live on the single instance. There is no second chart quietly adding exposure, and there is no grid of extra positions hiding behind the first trade.
Risk is a setting you choose, not a multiplier hiding in the code. Lot size can be fixed, or it can follow a preset from very low risk upward. The swing logic does not increase size because the last trade lost. A losing swing is closed by its stop. It is not “recovered” by a larger position.
The invalidation is known first. A safety rule blocks any order that would be sent without a stop loss. If the swing idea cannot name the price that proves it wrong, it is not sent.
----------- HOW THE BALANCE IS PROTECTED -----------
"Safe, here, means the EA is not allowed to keep trading after the account has already had a bad stretch. Every order has a stop. The day has a limit. The account has a drawdown brake. Those rules sit above the swing signal."
No swing method can remove risk. Gold and the other symbols this style is used on can move far and fast. What this EA does is refuse to let one swing, one day, or one bad cluster of trades run without a ceiling. Protection is applied in layers, and a later layer does not depend on the earlier one working perfectly.
| Protection | What it does |
|---|---|
| Stop on every order | A safety switch prevents an order from being sent with no stop loss. The loss on a single swing is defined before entry. |
| Daily loss cap | After a set number of losing trades in the day, new entries stop. A difficult session is not allowed to continue just because a new pattern appears. |
| Daily target | Once the day’s profit objective is reached, further trading can be restricted. The EA does not have to give the swing back in late, lower-quality trades. |
| Drawdown brake | If account drawdown reaches the limit you set, new trades are blocked. The close-on-drawdown option can flatten open positions instead of waiting for a deeper decline. |
| Spread filter | Entries are refused when the spread is wider than the maximum. A swing idea that only pays if the spread is unrealistically tight is skipped. |
| News pause | High, medium, and low impact events can each halt trading for a set time before and after the release, so a swing is not opened into a scheduled shock. |
| Controlled size | Very low, low, mid, or fixed-lot sizing keeps the swing’s risk in proportion to the balance. Size is chosen up front. It is not raised to chase a loss. |
| Single instance | One chart, one symbol, one timeframe. Exposure stays where you attached the EA, on XAUUSD at M30. |
Used together, these rules make the EA conservative by construction. A valid swing can still lose — that is what the stop is for — but the loss is capped, the day can be shut down, and the account can be stopped before a string of swings becomes a large drawdown. Start on the very low risk preset if protecting the balance matters more to you than trading often.
----------- TESTED, TRAINED, OPTIMIZED — AND NOT CURVE-FITTED -----------
Curve-fitting is what happens when a system is tuned until the historical equity curve looks excellent, and that excellence only exists on the exact window that was tuned. Change the dates, shift a parameter by a small amount, or include real spread, and the result falls apart. The settings memorized the past. They did not learn a swing.
Swing Titan was trained, tested, and optimized in the opposite order. The swing rule came first. The search for parameters came second. Anything that only survived on one sample was removed.
Trained on structure, not on a lucky year. The pattern rules describe when a swing is complete and when it is not. That is a property of price movement. It is not a period length that happened to match one historical rally. Training meant showing the rules many swings — trending, ranging, fast, and slow — and keeping the definition of a swing that still made sense across them.
Optimized for stability, then checked out of sample. Optimization was used to choose swing proportions and protection limits that stayed useful, not to hunt the single input set with the highest profit on the training data. Those chosen settings were then run on later market periods that were not part of the search. If a setting set looked strong in the training window and failed on the unseen window, it was treated as a fit and discarded. The settings that remain are the ones that still behaved like the same strategy after the data changed.
Walked across regimes. The same rules were rolled through different kinds of market rather than locked to the one stretch of history where they looked best. A swing definition that only works in a single trend is not a swing definition. It is a memory of that trend.
Neighboring settings had to survive. A curve-fitted input is brittle: one exact number works, and the numbers beside it do not. During testing, nearby values of the important inputs were compared. Where only one razor-thin value produced the result, that value was rejected. The edge had to live in the swing structure, so a small change in an input changes how selective the EA is — it does not delete the logic.
Costs were inside the test, not added afterward. Spread limits, stop placement, and the decision to skip expensive moments are part of the method. A backtest that needs a zero spread and a perfect fill to look good was not accepted as evidence. This is also why the backtest configuration matters: a default tester setup can hide or distort those costs. Use the configuration file and the guide before you judge the results.
Protection rules were not optimized away. It is easy to raise a historical profit figure by deleting the daily loss cap, widening the drawdown brake, or turning the stop into a suggestion. Those limits were kept. An equity curve that depends on trading without them is not the system being sold.
The result is a swing EA whose entries come from a completed price pattern, whose exits are defined with the entry, and whose account rules can stop it after a bad day or a deep enough drawdown. It was optimized to keep that behavior stable. It was not optimized to paint one historical curve.
