My Trading Skills — Train Yourself
We built My Trading Skills so you can test and improve your manual trading skills on historical market data. It replays the history of your chart's symbol candle by candle from a start date you choose, and everything after the replay position stays hidden. Just like on a live chart, you never know what the next candle will bring. You open virtual Buy and Sell trades with take profit and stop loss, and the panel shows how well you trade: win rate, profit factor and drawdown.
No order is ever sent to your broker. This is a training tool, not a trading robot.
How does it work?
Attach the indicator to a chart, preferably a separate one. The replay chart covers the chart window and shows the 500 candles before your start date as context. Press the green START button on the panel (or the Space key) and the market starts moving again, one M1 candle at a time; a higher-timeframe candle grows the way it does on a live chart. You can pause at any moment, reveal a single M1 candle with Step, or set the speed anywhere from 1 to 300 M1 candles per second.
When you see a setup, press Shift + D to buy or Shift + S to sell, or click the Buy and Sell buttons, which show the current Bid and Ask of the replay. Lot, take profit and stop loss are set in your account currency right on the panel. Your trade then runs against the candles that follow: take profit or stop loss closes it, or you close it yourself, one trade or all of them with one click. You can trade while the replay is running or paused, and hold buys and sells at the same time.
What you see on the chart
Seven timeframes are available (M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4 and D1), and you can switch between them at any time without losing your place. The price scale fits only the candles already revealed, so it gives no hint of what comes next. Bid and Ask lines show the spread. Every open trade has its entry, TP and SL lines with its live result, and every closed trade stays on the chart with its entry arrow, exit dot and a dotted path between them. The mouse wheel zooms, dragging looks back, "Go to latest" returns to the newest candle, and a START line marks where the replay began.
Realistic fills
Trades open at the close of the last revealed M1 candle: buys at Ask and sells at Bid, using the spread recorded with each M1 candle. Take profit and stop loss are checked against the high and low of every M1 candle after the entry. If one candle reaches both, the ticks of that minute decide which came first; without tick history the stop loss counts first. A candle that opens beyond a level fills at its open, just like a gap on a live account. Commission and swap are not included.
Measure your progress
The statistics panel shows your net P/L, number of trades, win rate, profit factor, average win and loss, best and worst trade, maximum drawdown and wins / losses. The history lists every closed trade and how it ended: TP, SL or closed by you. Restart replays the same period with fresh statistics, so you can practise the same day again and compare your results.

Good to know
The history comes from your terminal. How far back M1 data reaches depends on "Max bars in chart" (Tools → Options → Charts); if your start date is older than the available data, the indicator offers the first date it can start from. The trade panel needs a chart at least 760 pixels wide, but on narrower charts the hotkeys still trade. Changing the chart's symbol or timeframe, or removing the indicator, ends the session, and sessions are not saved.
MetaTrader's own drawing tools cannot be used on the replay chart, and when you remove the indicator the chart comes back exactly as it was. With the Ctrl hotkey option, MetaTrader also opens the Data Window (Ctrl + D) and the Save As dialog (Ctrl + S). The replay runs on a live chart; in the Strategy Tester the indicator stays idle. It works with any symbol your terminal has M1 history for: Forex, metals, indices, crypto and stocks.
