Volume-Trend Order Block Multi-Timeframe Scanner combines trend direction, volatility-adjusted Order Blocks, volume context and retest confirmation in one practical chart workflow. Its Multi-Timeframe display and Multi-Symbol Scanner also make it possible to monitor the same logic across selected markets without opening every chart individually.
The indicator begins by identifying the active direction with SuperTrend. While the trend is bullish, confirmed Pivot Lows can form Bullish Volume Order Blocks. While the trend is bearish, confirmed Pivot Highs can form Bearish Volume Order Blocks. Each qualifying zone is sized with ATR, checked against existing zones to reduce overlap, and divided according to candle-direction volume around its pivot.
Once an Order Block is active, the indicator follows its interaction with price. A Buy or Sell arrow is displayed only when price meets the selected retest condition and moves back through the relevant OB boundary in the direction of the current trend. If price later crosses the opposite invalidation boundary, the zone becomes a Broken OB and can either remain visible in a separate style or be removed.
This creates a natural sequence for reading the chart:
Trend direction → confirmed pivot → Volume Order Block → price retest → Buy/Sell confirmation → continued monitoring until the OB is invalidated
Trend-Shift Dots, newly formed OBs, retest arrows and Broken OBs are shown as separate events. This makes it easier to understand whether the chart is showing a change in direction, a structural zone, a reaction from that zone or its invalidation.

1. SuperTrend directionImportant: an Order Block is displayed only after its pivot has been confirmed by the required Right Side Pivot Bars. It is then drawn back at the original pivot candle.
The trend component uses ATR and the selected Applied Price to build dynamic bands around price. Its behavior is controlled by ATR Period, ATR Multiplier, Applied Price, ATR calculation method and Trend Shift Confirmation Method.
- Lower line: displayed below price while the bullish trend state is active.
- Upper line: displayed above price while the bearish trend state is active.
- ATR Period: controls the volatility window used by SuperTrend.
- ATR Multiplier: controls band distance and trend sensitivity.
- Trend Shift Confirmation Method: determines which price component must cross the relevant band to confirm a direction change.
A larger ATR Period or Multiplier generally produces a smoother, less sensitive trend. Lower values respond faster but can create more direction changes in ranging markets.
The optional SuperTrend filling colors the space between price and the active trend line. A Filling Transparency value of 100 turns the filling off.
2. Trend-Shift DotsA colored dot marks the bar where the internal SuperTrend state changes:
- Bullish Dot: transition into the bullish state.
- Bearish Dot: transition into the bearish state.
A Trend-Shift Dot is not an OB retest signal. The dot answers “when did the calculated trend change?”, while a Buy/Sell arrow answers “when did price confirm a move away from an active Order Block?”. The two events may occur on different bars.
3. Pivot detection and confirmationVolume Order Blocks begin with confirmed pivots. Two Pivot Types are available:
- High/Low: High prices identify Pivot Highs and Low prices identify Pivot Lows.
- Close/Close: closing prices are used for both pivot calculations.
Left Side Pivot Bars and Right Side Pivot Bars define the required surrounding structure. A pivot becomes known only after the selected number of right-side bars has appeared. Only then can the OB be created, although it is drawn from the original pivot candle so its structural origin remains visible.
4. Bullish Volume Order Block formationThe OB was not available at the original pivot time. Increasing Right Side Pivot Bars increases the confirmation delay. Left and Right Pivot Bars cannot both be zero.
A Bullish Volume OB can form when SuperTrend is bullish, a Pivot Low is confirmed, OB ATR is available, and the proposed zone does not overlap another eligible active OB from the same trend phase.
Bullish OB Top = Min(Pivot Open, Pivot Close)
Bullish OB Bottom = Bullish OB Top − OB Multiplier × OB ATR
The zone extends downward from the lower edge of the pivot candle body. It represents a volatility-adjusted structural area around a confirmed Pivot Low during an uptrend.
5. Bearish Volume Order Block formationA Bearish Volume OB can form when SuperTrend is bearish, a Pivot High is confirmed, OB ATR is available, and the new zone does not overlap another eligible active OB from the same trend phase.
Bearish OB Bottom = Max(Pivot Open, Pivot Close)
Bearish OB Top = Bearish OB Bottom + OB Multiplier × OB ATR
The zone extends upward from the upper edge of the pivot candle body. It represents a volatility-adjusted structural area around a confirmed Pivot High during a downtrend.
6. Order Block width and volatilityOrder Block width is calculated independently from SuperTrend:
- OB Width Multiplier: multiplies the OB ATR value. A larger value creates wider zones.
- OB ATR Period: defines the volatility window used specifically for OB height.
A longer OB ATR Period produces more stable zone dimensions, while a shorter period adapts more quickly to recent volatility. SuperTrend ATR controls trend sensitivity; OB ATR controls Order Block height.
7. Overlapping Order BlocksBefore a new zone is created, its complete price range is compared with eligible active OBs from the current trend phase. If the new zone overlaps an existing active zone, it is rejected. This reduces duplicate or heavily stacked Order Blocks around the same price area.
8. Buy and Sell Volume inside each OBEach OB is divided into sections labeled Buy Volume and Sell Volume. These values classify volume by candle direction from the original pivot candle through its right-side confirmation window:
- A candle with Close ≥ Open contributes to Buy Volume.
- A candle with Close < Open contributes to Sell Volume.
Buy Ratio = Bullish-candle Volume ÷ Total Classified Volume
The lower part of the box represents Buy Volume and the upper part represents Sell Volume. Labels show the corresponding percentages and can include the source timeframe.
For example, Buy: 65% means that 65% of the classified volume in this window came from candles with Close greater than or equal to Open. This provides a quick view of how volume was distributed while the pivot developed and became confirmed.
- Tick Volume: number of price updates recorded by the broker.
- Real Volume: actual traded volume when provided by the broker and symbol.
Real Volume may be unavailable for some symbols. In that case, Tick Volume can be used according to the data supplied by the broker.
9. Active Order BlocksAn active OB extends to the right while it remains valid. It identifies an area where users can monitor a return of price, the relationship between price and current trend, internal volume distribution, and a possible confirmed reaction.
After an OB forms, the indicator waits for a later retest condition before displaying an arrow.
10. Buy retest signalA Buy arrow can appear when:
- SuperTrend is bullish.
- A valid Bullish OB is active and was created before the current bar.
- The previous selected retest price was at or below the OB top.
- The current selected retest price moves above the OB top.
The arrow is plotted below the signal candle and marks a confirmed bullish move back above the upper boundary of an active Bullish OB.
11. Sell retest signalA Sell arrow can appear when:
- SuperTrend is bearish.
- A valid Bearish OB is active and was created before the current bar.
- The previous selected retest price was at or above the OB bottom.
- The current selected retest price moves below the OB bottom.
The arrow is plotted above the signal candle. It represents a confirmed bearish move back below the lower boundary of an active Bearish OB.
12. Signal Confirmation MethodThis input selects the price component used to confirm an OB retest. Close confirmation generally requires a candle to close beyond the relevant boundary and is less sensitive to isolated wick movement. A wick-sensitive method reacts earlier but may produce more signals during volatile conditions.
The indicator keeps a maximum of one qualifying OB retest signal per bar even if several active zones are available, keeping the chart clear when multiple zones are being monitored.
13. Broken Order BlocksAn active OB becomes broken when the selected breakout price exceeds its invalidation boundary:
- A Bullish OB is broken below its lower boundary.
- A Bearish OB is broken above its upper boundary.
The exact behavior depends on OB Breakout Confirmation Method. Close confirmation normally requires a close beyond the boundary, while a High/Low method can react to a wick.
When Broken OB Show is enabled, invalidated zones remain visible using the selected Broken OB color, transparency and label color. When disabled, they are removed. A Broken OB is historical structure and is no longer used as an active retest zone.
14. Show only current-trend OBsWhen enabled, OBs from completed trend phases are removed so the chart focuses on zones created after the latest trend shift. When disabled, previous and broken zones can remain visible according to the display settings, providing more historical context.
15. Practical ways to use the indicatorBullish continuation workflow:
- Confirm that the Lower line is active.
- Wait for a confirmed Pivot Low to create a Bullish Volume OB.
- Review the Buy/Sell Volume percentages inside the zone.
- Wait for price to revisit or move through the active OB.
- Look for a Buy arrow confirming movement back above the OB top.
- Compare the setup with higher-timeframe direction and surrounding structure.
- Use the OB boundary and market structure to evaluate invalidation and risk.
Bearish continuation workflow:
- Confirm that the Upper line is active.
- Wait for a confirmed Pivot High to create a Bearish Volume OB.
- Review the volume distribution inside the zone.
- Wait for price to revisit the active OB.
- Look for a Sell arrow confirming movement below the OB bottom.
- Compare the setup with higher-timeframe direction and nearby structure.
- Use the zone to evaluate invalidation and risk.
In simple terms, the active trend line provides direction, the OB provides the structural area, the volume percentages add context, and the arrow confirms movement back through the relevant OB boundary. Setups can be reviewed more selectively when SuperTrend changes frequently, several zones break quickly, or higher and lower timeframes point in opposite directions.
16. Important input adjustments- ID: use a unique value for each instance on the same chart.
- Maximum Bars to Process: limits historical processing; 0 uses all available bars.
- Timeframe to Display: selects the source calculation timeframe.
- Linear Interpolation: smooths MTF presentation without changing source-timeframe calculations.
- Higher SuperTrend ATR Period or Multiplier: produces a smoother trend with fewer direction changes.
- More Right Side Pivot Bars: confirms pivots later and requires more right-side structure.
- Higher OB Width Multiplier: creates wider Order Blocks.
- Longer OB ATR Period: produces more stable OB dimensions.
- Close confirmation: requires stronger candle confirmation beyond the selected boundary.
- High/Low confirmation: responds earlier to wick movement.
Additional controls are available for the Applied Price, ATR calculation method, pivot type, volume source, chart objects, timeframe label, countdown, signals, trend lines, dots, filling, OB colors, volume labels and Broken OB appearance.
17. AlertsAlerts are available for SuperTrend direction changes and Buy/Sell OB retest signals. Delivery methods include terminal message, push notification, email and sound.
- Enable Alerts for the Current Symbol: alerts from the chart symbol.
- Enable Alerts for All Scanner Symbols: enabled alerts from symbols monitored by the Scanner.
Push notifications and email must first be configured in the MetaTrader terminal.
18. Multi-Timeframe analysisTimeframe to Display calculates a selected source timeframe and shows it on the current chart. For example, H1 trend and OB structure can be displayed on an M15 chart. Linear Interpolation changes only the visual connection of MTF values.
When Use Separate Parameters for Each Time Frame is disabled, all timeframes inherit the main inputs. When enabled, semicolon-separated lists assign different calculation, signal, alert and style values to each timeframe.
Values must follow the exact order of Timeframe List, for example:
M1;M5;M15;M30;H1;H4;D1;W1
An empty timeframe-specific list inherits the corresponding main input. The Scanner supports up to 10 timeframes. Pivot confirmation, trend shifts, OBs and signals follow the source timeframe and its candle-closing status.
19. Multi-Symbol ScannerThe integrated Scanner presents the latest indicator state for selected symbols and timeframes in one panel. It can be used to locate a recent bullish or bearish event, compare the same symbol across timeframes and open the corresponding chart by clicking its cell.
It supports:
- Current symbol, custom symbol list or Market Watch source.
- Custom timeframe list with up to 10 timeframes.
- Bullish and bearish colors, including separate colors by timeframe.
- Latest Trend-Shift and OB retest information.
- Clickable cells for chart navigation.
- Movable and minimizable panel.
- Adjustable cell size, position, font and background.
- Indicator display hotkey.
- Alerts for the current symbol or all Scanner symbols.
The Scanner is designed as a monitoring and navigation tool rather than a replacement for chart analysis. After finding a relevant cell, open the chart and review the active line, OB state, volume distribution, source-candle status, higher-timeframe alignment and surrounding price structure.
Scanner workflow: identify the latest bullish or bearish event, compare its neighboring timeframes, open the chart, and then review the active line, OB and retest structure in context.

20. Calculation notes- Tick Volume and Real Volume depend on the data supplied by the broker and symbol.
- A Trend-Shift Dot and an OB retest arrow represent different events.
- A Broken OB is no longer an active retest zone.
- A signal on an unfinished source candle may change before that candle closes.
- MTF calculations follow the source timeframe.
- Different broker price and volume feeds may produce different historical results.
The indicator is intended to provide a structured view of trend direction, pivot-based Order Blocks, volume distribution, retest confirmation and OB invalidation across the selected symbols and timeframes.
Volume-Trend Order Block Multi-Timeframe Scanner is an analytical indicator. It does not open, modify or close trades. Signals and chart objects should be interpreted together with market structure, source-candle status and appropriate risk management.
