Xaurus MK2 is a trend-following, reversal-based, fully automated trading robot designed for trending markets such as XAUUSD, featuring a flexible self-optimization system (with minimal trader involvement) and making full use of the possibilities offered by high-leverage trading. The robot is high-risk by design; its purpose is to "accelerate" the account by hundreds or thousands of percent of profit in a good (trending) market.
We recommend (and practice ourselves) running several different variants of the robot's settings simultaneously, ideally even with different Signal TFs and different Setup N values. This works in the same way that, for example, the predictive ability of a "moving average" or another technical indicator may, depending on its parameters, perform better with one period and/or construction type on a particular market and worse with another. As a result, we obtain an absolute win on some settings; given the high aggressiveness of the initial risks, even a ratio of 1 to 5 accounts reaching a 1000% result would mean a profit factor of 2:1 for the combined trading (assuming an equal distribution of starting capital), which is quite good overall for any realistic trading. Based on this principle, we will publish our own current sets for RoboForex Pro accounts -- when trading with another broker and/or with a different type of account server (for example, RoboForex ECN), you will need to re-optimize the robot to find the optimal Setup N and/or Signal TF settings for the base starting deposit (on RoboForex Pro accounts the deposit is denominated in cents, and the optimal starting value is 10000, i.e. 100 dollars, or 1000 dollars = 100000 USC, depending on the size of the absolute risk capital available for trading this robot and on the number of sets launched simultaneously).
The settings variants provided are valid for RoboForex.Pro servers, with their 1:1000 leverage, MC 100% and SO 30%. With different quotes, different leverage and different trading conditions (MC and SO %), i.e. with any other broker / server type (even on the same RoboForex but on ECN-type accounts), you may need to re-optimize the robot to find the most suitable sets before starting to trade. To do so, you need to connect to that broker's server, on the specific account type on which you plan to trade in the future, open the Strategy Tester, select a history range for optimization (we recommend half a year or the last year -- to tune the robot to the current actual market; the test TF should always be set to M1, while the Signal TF setting can be specified from M1 to H1, with M5 as the default -- this is the robot's signal period, on which the average horizon of trading deals will vary), and set Setup N to -1 (minus one) in the parameters. Then, in the Settings tab of the tester, choose Optimization = Slow complete algorithm, set the modeling method to Open prices only, and click Start to launch the optimization. The robot will set the number of optimization passes on its own, and you will see progress in the form "NNN of 163840" next to the Start - Stop button, which means the tester is performing intelligent optimization.
You can choose XAUUSD, as in our examples, or any other instrument at your discretion. The test timeframe in the Settings tab must always be set to M1, otherwise the test will not start. It should be specifically noted that this robot has been designed in such a way as to bring the results of "fast" optimization in "Open prices only" M1 mode as close as possible to the "Every tick based on real ticks" mode. This makes flexible and fast optimization and tuning of the robot to any market both possible and practical. After the resulting Setup variants have been found, you can verify them in "Real ticks" mode to make sure that, in general, the result matches Open prices only (in 95% of cases), except for the deduction from profit of costs associated with accounting for real intra-minute spreads in tester trading.
As for the initial deposit, the recommended default value is set to 10000 (on RoboForex.Pro accounts this value is expressed in cents, i.e. the minimum deposit to start trading on these accounts is 100 dollars represented in USC). If you initially want to optimize for a different (for example, smaller) minimum deposit to start the test, change the Minimal deposit setting in the Parameters. This value is responsible for the deposit size at the moment **the series of deals begins** -- it determines that the first deal of the series (and its own add-on entries in the case of pyramiding) is opened with a lot size of Deposit / parameter value for 0.01 lot. For XAUUSD, values in the range of 3000 - 10000 work well; for currencies (e.g. EURUSD), even lower values may also work well -- from 500 to 3000. In this respect, we suggest that you experiment on your own, performing (re-)optimization of the robot with various base values.
INPUT PARAMETERS
1) Signal TF -- the signal timeframe. We recommend setting it from M1 to H1 (do not confuse it with the chart/test TF on which the EA must always be running, which corresponds to M1 for any choice).
2) Setup N -- the number of the "intelligent setting". This number is unique within the choice of a specific broker account type / instrument / test period / leverage / initial deposit (Settings tab of the tester), so as to display the same test result given the same Signal TF and Minimal deposit choices in the Inputs tab (with the common SL / TP and Prot SL disabled). When this parameter is set to "-1" and Slow complete algorithm is selected in the Settings tab, the robot will perform self-optimization taking into account the selected instrument, test period, account / broker type, leverage, initial deposit and the other parameters listed above. If you use the RoboForex broker on its Pro (USC) accounts, you can, for example, use the sets whose screenshots we attach to this product page, since they were developed specifically for it. If you use other broker servers, you may need to perform your own re-optimization of the robot according to the description provided above before trading on them.
3) Minimal deposit -- this is the base MM parameter. It is the amount of funds on the account, in the account currency, at which the robot -- being at the beginning of each series of deals -- opens with a lot size that is a multiple of 0.01. In practice this means that you cannot start trading with the robot with an amount in the account currency on the deposit that is less than this value (during the progression of deal series, a drawdown may form within the development of the current series in which the deposit becomes lower than this value and the deal lot becomes higher than the initial one -- this is a normal situation in the development of the trading).
4) Equity SL $ -- here you can specify the equity value below which all of the EA's deals will be automatically closed and its operation terminated.
5) Equity TP $ -- here you can specify the equity value above which all of the EA's deals will be automatically closed and its operation terminated. We recommend setting this value in advance, before the start of trading, depending on the horizon of the planned trading -- a typical good window is 1/3 - 1/4 of the test horizon, for example a test over the last year (optimization over a one-year period) -- a target of 1000% over 3 months (or another value, based on the realistic results obtained in the tests).
All stop losses (except Protective), take profits and pending orders are emulated by the EA as horizontal levels on the price chart, with only the actual orders to open or close a position being sent to the broker. The Protective stops mechanism (parameter 6) does not serve to systemically protect positions against market movement, but to protect against the EA losing connection to the trading account -- if a realistic value in PP% (these are percentage points -- 1 point = quote price / 10000) is specified here, this value will be placed as a hard stop loss once per Protective TF bar (parameter 7), i.e. it will be shifted away from the current price each bar (rather than offset from the deal's open price). All systemic stops are controlled by the EA itself, without their levels being sent to the broker. In any test with Prot SL = 0, at the end of the run the tester outputs a line to the log (Journal tab): "Max movement on TF ...", which states the minimum adequate value for this specific test and Prot TF (which must be increased by 20-50% before being placed in Prot SL, for safety, if you decide to use this safety mechanism).

RISK DISCLOSURE
This robot uses a principle similar to "martingale", but this is done not with the classical goal of "recovering the drawdown", but with the goal of making the trading independent of the market direction, provided that the principle of increasing volatility in any direction is preserved. In other words, when the robot is trading and there is a prolonged flat market, given the high aggressiveness of the trading, a loss of the account may occur; however, in a favorable trending market, the profitability formed may not only be comparable to the initial investment but significantly exceed it. Therefore, the application of a principle similar to "martingale" in this trading is justified (subject to compliance with all necessary precautions -- investing in trading with the robot only the absolute "loss limit", and also, preferably, running simultaneously not just one specific found Setup setting but several maximally different ones, from among the first 10-50 best results obtained during intelligent optimization).
