Kalman Cone Forecast MT4
Adaptive forecast cone, trend pressure, and exhaustion detection in one clean trading panel.
Kalman Cone Forecast is an adaptive predictive indicator for MetaTrader 4. It uses Kalman filter smoothing to reduce market noise, estimate current trend pressure, and project a forward price cone based on live volatility conditions.
Instead of showing only a moving average line or a basic volatility band, Kalman Cone Forecast gives you a clearer answer to three important questions:
Is the market trending?
Is the forecast range tight or noisy?
Is price becoming stretched beyond normal movement?
The indicator continuously smooths price action, measures slope, builds a projected cone, and marks possible exhaustion points when price stretches too far from the estimated path.
It is designed for traders who want cleaner visual structure without overcrowding the chart.
What the Indicator Shows
1. Filter State
The panel shows whether the Kalman filter is currently locked, tracking, or searching.
LOCKED = cleanest filter state
TRACKING = usable but less stable
SEARCHING = unstable / noisy conditions
A locked filter means the model has a cleaner read on price movement.
A searching state means the market is less stable and the forecast is less reliable.
2. Signal State
The signal row gives a simple market condition read:
TRADE = cleanest condition
CAUTION = reduced confidence
STAND DOWN = unstable / noisy condition
This is not a buy or sell signal by itself.
It is a market-quality state that helps you decide whether conditions are clean enough to act.
3. Trend Direction and Slope
The trend row shows the current Kalman direction and slope.
Slope is now displayed in ATR per bar, not raw points.
Example:
Trend: UP +0.080 ATR/bar
This means the Kalman trend is rising by about 0.08 ATR per candle.
Typical slope reading:
0.00 to 0.03 ATR/bar = flat / weak pressure
0.03 to 0.08 ATR/bar = usable movement
0.08 to 0.15 ATR/bar = strong movement
0.15+ ATR/bar = aggressive / stretched movement
ATR-normalized slope makes the reading more consistent across forex, gold, indices, and crypto.
4. Forecast Cone
The cone shows the expected forward price range based on the current Kalman state and volatility.
Cone width is now displayed in ATR, not raw points.
Example:
Cone: 0.50 ATR
This means one side of the projected cone is about 0.50 ATR away from the projected middle line.
Typical cone reading:
Cone 0.20 ATR = very tight / confident forecast
Cone 0.50 ATR = normal tight forecast
Cone 1.00 ATR = wide / uncertain forecast
Cone 1.50 ATR+ = very wide / noisy forecast
Lower cone values mean the forecast is tighter.
Higher cone values mean the market is more uncertain or noisy.
Exhaustion Arrows
Kalman Cone Forecast can mark exhaustion when price stretches unusually far from the predicted level.
These arrows help highlight moments where price is moving outside its normal projected range.

How to Read the Panel
Example panel:
Filter: LOCKED
Signal: TRADE
Trend: UP +0.080 ATR/bar
Cone: 0.50 ATR
Plain English:
The filter is stable, market conditions are clean, trend pressure is upward, and the forecast cone is still reasonably tight.
Another example:
Filter: SEARCHING
Signal: STAND DOWN
Trend: FLAT +0.010 ATR/bar
Cone: 1.50 ATR
Plain English:
The market is noisy, direction is weak, and the forecast cone is too wide. This is a lower-quality condition.

Suggested Timeframes

The indicator also works well on:
M15
H1
Lower timeframes can produce more noise.
Higher timeframes give slower but cleaner readings.
Important Input Note
Cone Sigma controls the statistical width of the forecast cone.
1 = narrow cone, about 68% confidence
2 = normal cone, about 95% confidence
3 = wide cone, about 99.7% confidence
The default value is:
Cone Sigma = 2
This is the balanced setting for normal use.
