Artemis FX ORB Edge EA is an intelligent Opening Range Breakout system for MetaTrader 5, built specifically for the major FX pairs.

The EA includes preset files for the main major pairs and for different session styles, making it easy to switch between London + New York, London only or New York only without manually rebuilding the strategy.

Built specifically for major FX pairs

Artemis FX ORB Edge is not a generic ORB EA with a simple symbol filter added afterwards.

The system is designed around the characteristics of the major currency pairs, with separate internal calibration logic for each supported pair. Spread behaviour, volatility thresholds, breakout conditions and management scaling are handled in a way that better reflects how major FX pairs actually trade.

This means the EA can adapt more intelligently across instruments such as:

  • GBPUSD
  • USDJPY
  • USDCHF
  • USDCAD
  • AUDUSD
  • NZDUSD

The goal is to provide a consistent trading framework while still respecting that each FX pair has its own behaviour and rhythm.

Intelligent FX ORB Engine

Artemis uses an adaptive approach to the opening range instead of treating every session the same way.

The EA can classify the ORB as healthy, extended or extreme, then apply additional logic around breakout strength, opening drive, retests, failed breaks, session context, directional bias and setup age.

This allows stronger opportunities to remain tradable when conditions support them, while weak, late or overextended setups can be filtered out.

OCO Straddle is the recommended default trading mode, but additional modes are available for traders who prefer a more conservative, momentum, retest or confirmed-breakout style of execution.

Pair-aware News Guard

One of the biggest strengths of Artemis FX ORB Edge is that its News Guard is FX-specific.

The EA does not treat news as a generic global filter. Instead, it can identify and prioritise the currencies that matter for the pair being traded.

For example:

  • EURUSD monitors EUR and USD events
  • GBPUSD monitors GBP and USD events
  • USDJPY monitors USD and JPY events
  • AUDUSD monitors AUD and USD events

The EA can use the MT5 Economic Calendar or an external news API, and High, Medium and Low impact events can be controlled independently. Traders can also decide how many minutes before and after a news release new entries should be blocked.

This gives Artemis a more practical and relevant protection layer for FX than a one-size-fits-all news filter.

FX Shock Guard

Major FX pairs can behave very differently during sudden bursts of volatility, especially around session opens, economic releases and liquidity shifts.

To support this, Artemis FX ORB Edge includes an FX Shock Guard that monitors abnormal market behaviour such as sudden expansion in volatility, unstable conditions and spread changes.

If conditions become unsuitable, Artemis can temporarily hold back new entries until the market becomes more stable again.

This helps reduce exposure to poor breakout conditions rather than blindly chasing movement.

Smart profit management

Profit taking can be tailored to the trader rather than forcing every user into the same exit model.

Standard uses Artemis-managed targets, Earlier Profit is designed to lock in gains sooner, Extended gives stronger moves more room to develop, and Custom allows the trader to define their own TP and SL values in pips.

Trade management can also be controlled through Protected, Balanced or Runner profiles. Artemis then manages the underlying break-even, partial-profit and trailing logic according to the chosen management style.

This gives traders flexibility while still keeping the system structured and easy to operate.

Prop Firm Ready

Artemis FX ORB Edge is designed with prop-style account rules in mind.

The dedicated Prop Guard can apply a daily drawdown limit, automatically close EA positions when the limit is reached, enforce an optional daily profit target and stop new trading once the target has been achieved.

Separate Core Risk controls remain available whether Prop Guard is enabled or not, including:

  • daily trade limits
  • consecutive-loss protection
  • emergency drawdown protection
  • risk-based position sizing
  • reduced risk in high-volatility conditions
