How It Works
Adaptive SuperTrend Engine
Unlike standard SuperTrend indicators with fixed ATR multipliers, Trend Quorum uses a Trend Quality Index (TQI) to dynamically modulate band width in real time. TQI is a continuous 0-to-1 score computed from four weighted factors:
- Efficiency Ratio — Measures directional movement purity (how much of the price movement is directional vs noise)
- Volatility Regime — Detects expanding or contracting volatility conditions
- Price Structure — Position within the recent high-low range
- Momentum Persistence — Percentage of bars moving in alignment with the overall direction
When trend quality is high, bands tighten to catch moves earlier. When quality drops, bands widen to avoid false signals in chop. Asymmetric band logic further enhances this: the active side (in the direction of the trend) tightens while the passive side widens, creating a ratchet effect in strong trends.
Confluence Filtering
Three optional filters gate every signal:
- EMA Cloud — Fast/slow EMA crossover. Buy signals require bullish cloud alignment; sell signals require bearish.
- ADX Trend Strength — Minimum ADX threshold confirms a trending environment. Rejects signals in ranging markets.
- Multi-Timeframe Confirmation — Higher-timeframe trend must agree. Auto-selects the appropriate HTF or allows manual override.
Each filter acts as a gate. When enabled, ALL gates must pass for a signal to fire. Signal strength is rated: 4/4 = Strong, 3/4 = Medium, 1-2/4 = Weak.
ATR-Based Risk Management
Every signal calculates:
- Stop-Loss — Based on recent pivot high/low with an ATR buffer
- TP1 / TP2 / TP3 — At configurable R-multiples (default 1.0R, 2.0R, 3.0R)
- Visual lines on chart extending from the signal bar, with price labels
- Hit detection — Lines turn turquoise when a TP level is reached
