Place the vertical lines at the times you are interested to get volatility readings from (any time of day). Use a COLON ":" when editing the vertical line times in input settings.

Default settings will give you the expected volatility for the first hour of each trading session based on M15 Chart with GMT+2 broker (e.g. IC Markets). To keep these SESSION OPEN lines, edit the line times in input settings to match your own broker's server time (e.g. EST = GMT-5).

To get the average volatility for a different time period starting at each Session Open, you can either change the NUMBER OF VOLATILITY BARS in input settings (e.g. default 4 BARS x M15 = 1 Hour / 8 BARS x M15 = 2 Hours etc.) OR change the chart timeframe (e.g. M5 x 4 BARS = first 20 minutes of Session / M30 x 4 BARS = first 2 hours / H1 x 4 BARS = first 4 hours etc.) By changing the chart timeframe and/or the number of VOLATILITY BARS, you can quickly get different volatility readings for ANY custom-defined period starting from each vertical line.

NOTE ON USING CHART TIMEFRAME TO QUICKLY GET VOLATILITY READINGS FOR DIFFERENT TIME PERIODS WITHOUT EDITING THE INDICATOR SETTINGS:

The beauty of the VOLATILITY BARS design means you can very easily and quickly get multiple volatility readings just by CHANGING CHART TIMEFRAME (i.e. without editing the indicator settings). As each chart candle represents a different time period on each timeframe, you can get 9 different volatility readings just by changing the timeframe in MT4. Here are a couple of examples:

If indicator setting NUMBER OF VOLATILITY BARS = 2, you can get the expected volatility / average price movement for all these periods:

  •           M1 = NEXT 2 MINUTES
  •           M5 = NEXT 10 MINUTES
  •           M15 = NEXT 30 MINUTES
  •           M30 = NEXT HOUR
  •           H1 = NEXT 2 HOURS
  •           H4 = NEXT 8 HOURS
  •           D1 = NEXT 2 DAYS
  •           WK1 = NEXT 2 WEEKS

If indicator setting NUMBER OF VOLATILITY BARS = 3, you can get the expected volatility / average price movement for all these periods:

  •           M1 = NEXT 3 MINUTES
  •           M5 = NEXT 15 MINUTES
  •           M15 = NEXT 45 MINUTES
  •           M30 = NEXT 1.5 HOURS
  •           H1 = NEXT 3 HOURS
  •           H4 = NEXT 12 HOURS
  •           D1 = NEXT 3 DAYS
  •           WK1 = NEXT 3 WEEKS

REMEMBER the expected volatility readings start from each Vertical Line, so you can use any combination of NUMER OF VOLATILITY BARS and VERTICAL LINE TIME to get a volatility reading for any time period at any time of day (5 Vertical Lines = 5 custom volatility readings per day), and you can use the MT4 TIMEFRAME buttons to quickly get readings for different time periods without having to edit the indicator properties.
