Why you need it
You enter because the SuperTrend flipped. Price moves sideways for a few bars, the line flips back, and you are out of the trade or you skip the next signal. The classic SuperTrend is centered on median price, so each wick in a range pulls its band with it. Every flip you cannot trust is a decision you make twice.
What you get
Fabii SuperTrend NMA gives you one SuperTrend line on an adaptive center, so range noise pulls it less.
- One line you read at a glance, green for an up trend and red for a down trend, so you decide faster.
- A center built on the Ocean Natural Moving Average (NMA), which slows down in a range and speeds up in a trend, so sideways noise pulls the line less.
- A dotted line on the current bar shows where the line stands right now, so you see the next move without waiting for the close. The confirmed line never changes.
- Popup, sound or push alert on every flip, so you do not have to watch the chart.
- Works on any pair, any timeframe and any market, so one tool covers your whole watchlist.
- The line and the NMA center are readable by an Expert Advisor, so you can build your own rules on top.
How it works
The center is the NMA. It smooths price with a Triple Exponential Moving Average (TEMA), then adjusts its speed to how efficiently price is moving: it follows fast in a clean trend and slowly in a range. Around this center, the indicator draws a band at a distance equal to the Average True Range (ATR) times your multiplier. The line follows the lower band in an up trend and the upper band in a down trend, and it only moves in the direction of the trend. It flips when a bar closes beyond the opposite band. A closed bar never changes afterwards. On the current bar, a dotted line shows the state right now, and it is never used for alerts.
How to use it
- Attach the indicator to any chart.
- Read the color: a green line below price is an up trend, a red line above price is a down trend.
- Look for your entries in the direction of the color, and use the level of the line as a reference for your stop loss.
- Adjust the ATR multiplier: lower, the line sits closer to price; higher, it sits further away and flips less often.
- Turn on the popup, sound or push alert to be notified on every flip.
Key settings
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| NMA efficiency period | Bars used to measure how efficiently price moves. A higher value gives a steadier center. | 21 |
| NMA applied price | Price fed to the NMA. | Close price |
| NMA TEMA period | Smoothing applied to the price before the NMA. | 10 |
| ATR period | Bars used for the Average True Range. | 14 |
| ATR multiplier (band half-width) | Distance of the band from the center, in ATR units. A higher value keeps the line further from price, with fewer flips. | 3.0 |
| Alerts | Popup, sound or push notification when the line flips. All three are off by default. | false |
| Bars to compute (min 50) | Number of recent bars calculated (minimum 50), which keeps the chart fast. | 500 |
Other settings control colors, the sound file and display options.
Test it before you decide
No repaint, and you can check it yourself. Let a bar close, then check that the value in the Data Window does not change. Test it in the Strategy Tester in visual mode on your own pair and timeframe.
Updates are free and included. Every release is listed in the What's new section of this page, so you always know what changed.
More tools from the same author: Donchian Channel Original plots upper and lower bands from the highest high and lowest low over a set number of bars, so you see the limits of the range. RSX/EMA Oscillator applies RSX smoothing to an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) ratio, so you read momentum with less lag. Both are on my seller page, linked at the top of this page.
