Automatically Detect the Legendary Gartley Pattern Across Multiple Symbols and Timeframes
The Gartley pattern — discovered by H.M. Gartley in 1935 and refined by Scott Carney with specific Fibonacci ratios — is considered the "grandfather" of all harmonic patterns. Its precise 61.8% B retracement and 78.6% D completion create one of the most reliable potential reversal zones in technical analysis.
Finding properly formed Gartley patterns manually requires hours of chart analysis and careful Fibonacci validation. This dashboard eliminates that tedious work by automatically scanning up to 20 instruments across 9 timeframes, validating all required ratios, and alerting you the moment a valid Gartley completes.

What Makes the Gartley Pattern Special
The Gartley is a 5-point XABCD harmonic structure with strict Fibonacci requirements at each leg. Unlike simpler patterns, the Gartley demands precise ratio alignment, which creates high-quality reversal zones backed by nearly 90 years of proven market psychology.
The critical ratios that define a valid Gartley pattern are:
XAB Retracement — Point B must retrace exactly 61.8% of the XA leg. This is the Gartley's signature characteristic that distinguishes it from other harmonic patterns.
ABC Retracement — Point C retraces between 38.2% and 88.6% of the AB leg, creating the setup for the final move.
XAD Completion — Point D completes at 78.6% of XA. This is the entry trigger zone where price is expected to reverse.
The 78.6% level (the square root of 61.8%) is a key Fibonacci ratio where institutional traders often place orders. When all Gartley ratios align at this level, it creates a powerful confluence zone with high reversal probability.
How This Indicator Works
The Gartley Harmonic Dashboard continuously monitors all enabled symbols and timeframes in the background. It uses swing pivot detection to identify potential XABCD candidate structures, then validates each one against the complete set of Fibonacci ratios before displaying anything on your dashboard.
Every pattern you see has already passed strict validation:
Point B at 61.8% of XA (within tolerance)
Point C between 38.2% and 88.6% of AB
Point D at 78.6% of XA (within tolerance)
Proper alternating high/low structure across all five points
If any ratio falls outside the valid range, the pattern is not displayed. This strict filtering ensures you only see properly formed, high-quality Gartley patterns — not loose approximations.

Core Features
Multi-Symbol Dashboard — Monitor up to 20 instruments simultaneously from a single panel. Works with any symbol available in your MetaTrader terminal: Forex pairs, Gold (XAUUSD), Silver, Indices like US30 and NAS100, Cryptocurrencies, and Commodities. Broker symbol prefixes and suffixes are handled automatically.
9 Timeframe Coverage — Scans M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4, D1, W1, and MN simultaneously. Every enabled symbol and timeframe is monitored continuously in the background with zero manual effort.
Non-Repainting Signals — Patterns only appear after Point D is confirmed on a closed candle with the required number of pivot bars to the right. Once a Gartley pattern appears on your chart, it will never disappear or change. This makes the indicator safe for live trading analysis and historical review.
Strict Fibonacci Validation — The indicator automatically verifies all three critical ratios (XAB, ABC, XAD) before confirming any pattern. This dramatically improves signal quality and eliminates false Gartley detections that plague manual identification.
Visual Pattern Display — When a Gartley completes, the full XABCD structure is drawn on the chart with yellow-filled triangles connecting all five points. Each pivot is clearly labeled X, A, B, C, D for immediate visual confirmation.
One-Click Chart Navigation — Click any row in the dashboard to instantly jump to that symbol and timeframe. The chart switches automatically and the pattern is displayed, ready for analysis.
4 Alert Types — Receive alerts via screen popup, customizable sound file, email notification, and mobile push notification through MetaQuotes ID. Any combination can be enabled independently so you're notified wherever you are when a Gartley pattern completes.
Fully Customizable Parameters — All Fibonacci ratios are adjustable. You can modify the XAB ratio, XAD ratio, ABC range, and tolerance values to match your personal trading preferences. The default values follow classic Gartley specifications and work well for most instruments and timeframes.
Input Parameters
-
Symbols — Comma-separated list of instruments to monitor (up to 20)
-
Timeframes — Enable or disable M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4, D1, W1, MN individually
-
Right Pivot Bars — Number of confirmed bars to the right of Point D required before displaying the pattern (default 5). Higher values increase confirmation, lower values show patterns earlier.
-
Left Pivot Bars — Number of bars to the left used for swing high/low detection
-
XAB Ratio — Fibonacci retracement for Point B (default 61.8%)
-
ABC Min / Max — Fibonacci retracement range for Point C (default 38.2% – 88.6%)
-
XAD Ratio — Fibonacci retracement for Point D on the XA leg (default 78.6%)
-
Fibonacci Tolerance — Allowed deviation from exact ratios for each measurement point
-

How to Trade the Gartley Pattern
Entry — Enter at Point D when price shows a reversal signal confirming the completion zone. A supporting candlestick pattern or momentum divergence at D increases conviction.
Stop Loss — Place the stop beyond Point X. For bullish Gartley patterns, the stop goes below X. For bearish patterns, the stop goes above X. The Gartley's structure naturally creates reasonable stop distances.
Targets — Standard Gartley targets are the 38.2% retracement of the CD leg for Target 1 and the 61.8% retracement of the CD leg for Target 2. Some traders also use Point C as a final target on strong moves.
Who This Indicator Is For
Harmonic traders already working with Bat, Butterfly, or Crab patterns who want to add the classic Gartley to their repertoire without spending hours scanning manually.
Multi-pair traders monitoring Forex, Gold, Indices, or Crypto across multiple symbols who need a single dashboard to track everything without switching charts.
Part-time traders who cannot monitor charts full-time. Mobile push alerts capture every Gartley completion in real-time, allowing you to review and act during available windows.
System developers building harmonic trading strategies who need non-repainting, historically consistent signals confirmed on closed candles as a reliable foundation for rule-based backtesting.
Precision traders who want only high-quality setups with validated Fibonacci ratios — not loosely drawn patterns that don't meet proper Gartley criteria.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the indicator repaint?
No. All patterns require Point D to be confirmed by a set number of closed candles to the right before appearing. Once visible, a pattern will never move, change, or disappear. It is fully reliable for both live trading and historical analysis.
Why do I see fewer signals than with other harmonic indicators?
The Gartley has strict criteria — specifically XAB must be 61.8% and XAD must be 78.6%. This strictness is intentional. Fewer signals means higher quality signals. If an indicator is showing you dozens of Gartleys per day, it's almost certainly not applying the ratio rules correctly.
What markets does it work on?
Any market available in MetaTrader with sufficient price history — Forex pairs, XAUUSD, Silver, US30, NAS100, Crypto, and all other available instruments. Enter the symbol name exactly as it appears in your Market Watch.
Can I adjust the Fibonacci ratios?
Yes. All ratio parameters including XAB ratio, XAD ratio, ABC range, and tolerance values are fully adjustable in the indicator settings.
How do I set up mobile alerts?
Enable Push Alerts in the indicator settings, then add your MetaQuotes ID in the Notifications tab under MetaTrader Options. Step-by-step setup instructions are included in the user guide.
Does it work with broker symbol naming variations?
Yes. The indicator automatically handles custom prefixes and suffixes. EURUSD, EURUSD.pro, EURUSDm, and similar broker-specific naming conventions are all recognized without any manual configuration.
