AE-MTF VolumeDivergence Signal Pro shows you when a price move is no longer backed by volume. It detects price/volume divergences and convergences and draws an arrow only after candle confirmation.

Built on the classic Better Volume concept, extended with multi-timeframe volume aggregation and automatic detection of price/volume divergences at swing points. Fully self-contained, works on all symbols and timeframes.
How It Works
The histogram in a separate window classifies every bar into one of six volume activity types:
- Climax High (red) — climax volume at the top of the range
- Climax Low (white) — climax volume at the bottom of the range
- ClimaxChurn (magenta) — climax with churning: high volume without price progress
- HighChurn (green) — high volume with a narrow range
- Low Volume (yellow) — local volume minimum over the last N bars
- Neutral (blue) — normal volume with no special features
A volume moving average is drawn over the histogram, so you can instantly see how much the current bar stands out.
Price/Volume Divergences and Convergences
The indicator automatically finds swing highs and lows and compares them with volume. Four signal types:
Bullish divergence — selling pressure is fading, a reversal up is likely.
Bearish divergence — buying momentum is fading, a reversal down is likely.
Bullish convergence — volume confirms the strength of the rise.
Bearish convergence — volume confirms the strength of the decline.
Every signal is drawn with lines on both the price chart and the volume window, so you can judge its quality at a glance. The minimum signal strength (%) is set separately for divergences and convergences, and weak patterns are filtered out automatically.
Confirmation Arrows
An arrow does not appear the moment a divergence is detected. It appears only after confirmation:
- Swing is formed — a set number of bars has closed to the right of it (2 by default). Signals are never built on an unfinished swing.
- Confirmation candle — within 1–3 bars. For a bullish signal it's a bullish candle with a higher low; for a bearish signal, a bearish candle with a lower high.
- Volume filter (optional) — the confirmation candle's volume must be at least average × multiplier.
- Arrow and alert — only on a closed candle.
Unconfirmed signals can be shown as grey arrows, so you can see setups while they are still forming.
Multi-Timeframe Aggregation (MTF)
Volume can be aggregated from any higher timeframe, from M5 to MN1. For example, you can analyze H4 volume divergences directly on an M15 chart without switching timeframes. The indicator's window title shows the selected aggregation mode.
How to Trade
- Buy: bullish divergence at support or after a Climax Low bar. Enter after the arrow, stop below the second swing low.
- Sell: bearish divergence after a series of Climax High bars. Enter after the arrow, stop above the high.
- Hold: convergence in the trend direction is a reason to keep the position or add on a pullback.
Works best on H1 and higher. Combine it with support/resistance levels or horizontal volume levels to select the best signals.
Alerts and Automation
- Alerts — pop-up window plus a separate sound file for each signal type. Enabled independently for divergences and convergences.
- 15 buffers for iCustom — histogram, moving average, divergence and convergence arrows (confirmed and unconfirmed).
- Signals for your EA — confirmed signals are published to terminal global variables: type (1 = BUY, −1 = SELL), time and counter. Your EA can read them without iCustom. Duplicate protection survives indicator reloads.
Main Settings
- Volume: MA period, low-volume lookback, aggregation timeframe
- Signal search: history depth, distance and minimum bars between swings, bars to the right of a pivot
- Filters: minimum divergence/convergence strength (%), candle confirmation (1–3 bars), volume filter
- Appearance: colors, width and style of all lines and arrows, unconfirmed signal display
