AE-MTF VolumeDivergence Signal Pro is a professional volume indicator with automatic detection of divergences and convergences for MT4.
It combines the classic Better Volume concept, multi-timeframe aggregation of volume, and an algorithm for finding price and volume discrepancies at extremes.
The indicator is completely self-sufficient: it works on all instruments and timeframes.
The principle of operation
The histogram in a separate subwindow classifies each bar according to six types of volume activity:
Climax High (red) — culminating volume at the maximum of the range
Climax Low (white) — the culminating volume at the minimum of the range
ClimaxChurn (magenta) — culmination with churning (high volume without price movement)
HighChurn (green) — increased volume with a small range
Low Volume (yellow) — local minimum volume for the last N bars
Neutral (blue) — standard volume with no special features
A moving average of the volume with a configurable period is plotted on top of the histogram to visually assess the deviation of the current volume from the average.
Divergences and convergence of price/volume
The indicator automatically finds the pivot extremes (High/Low) and compares them with the corresponding volume values. Four types of signals are supported:
Bullish divergence — weakening of bearish pressure, an upward reversal is likely.
Bearish divergence — weakening of bullish momentum, a downward reversal is likely.
Bullish convergence is a confirmation of the strength of the upward movement.
The bearish convergence is a confirmation of the strength of the downward movement.
All found signals are displayed as lines simultaneously on the price chart and in the volume window, which allows you to visually verify the quality of the discrepancy. The minimum threshold of signal strength (in %) is set separately for divergences and convergences — weak false patterns are filtered automatically.
Confirmation arrows
After detecting the signal, the indicator waits for a confirmation candle and only then draws an arrow on the price chart. Confirmation logic:
Multi-Timeframe Aggregation (MTF)
The volume on the current timeframe can be aggregated from any senior period. This allows, for example, to analyze the divergences of the H4 volume directly on the M15 chart, without switching the timeframe. The indicator name in the subwindow automatically displays the selected aggregation mode.
Recommendations for use
The indicator is most effective on timeframes H1 and higher when trading on trend movements. A bullish divergence in the support zone or after the climax bar (Climax Low) is a strong signal to consider a long position. A bearish divergence after a series of Climax High bars increases the likelihood of a downward reversal. To improve the signal quality, it is recommended to combine the indicator with support/resistance levels or horizontal volume levels.
