Keel is a panel that sits on your chart. It shows one thing: how much loss you can still take before you break your account rules. It also shows the largest trade you can open right now.
It never opens a trade. It does not predict the market. It reads your account and shows you the numbers.
The main number
The panel shows one large figure: your room left before a limit.
ROOM LEFT BEFORE A LIMIT 953.07 USD Nothing is close to a limit. about 19 trade(s) at 0.5% risk Daily loss 0.00 / 300.00 0% Max loss 46.93 / 1000.00 5% MAX SAFE LOT NOW 0.62 lots Balance 10,000.00 Equity 10,000.00 Positions 0
You also get a short sentence that tells you your status in plain words.
The part most tools get wrong
A position without a stop loss has no limit on its loss. Many tools leave these positions out of the maths completely and report your open risk as zero.
That is dangerous. You could have half of your account unprotected and the panel would still tell you that you are fine.
Keel does not do that. It gives the position a worst case loss that you set yourself, adds it to the total, and marks it in red.
Why the settings matter
Trading firms do not all measure the loss limit the same way. If a tool assumes the wrong method, it will tell you that you are safe when you are not.
So Keel asks you which method your firm uses for the total loss limit:
- Fixed. The limit never moves.
- Trailing, daily. The limit moves up once a day.
- Trailing, live. The limit follows your account continuously.
It also asks what the daily loss is counted from:
- The balance at the start of the day.
- The equity at the start of the day.
- The highest equity reached during the day.
Choose the options your firm uses. If you are not sure, check your firm's rule page. This takes two minutes and it is the difference between correct numbers and wrong ones.
What the panel shows
- Room left, in money and in number of trades
- Daily loss and maximum loss, with progress bars
- Floating profit and loss across all positions
- Open risk, including positions with no stop loss
- The largest position you can open right now
- A status badge: active, warning, danger, breached, no stop, locked
- A label for your firm and program, so the panel matches your account
What it can do
By default Keel only warns you. If you want, you can also let it:
- Close your positions when a limit is hit.
- Block new trades after a limit is hit.
- Keep that block even if you restart the terminal.
You choose the level. Warning only is the default, because it is the safest.
Setup
- Download it from the Market.
- Restart the terminal, or right click the Navigator and select Refresh.
- Drag Keel onto any chart. The symbol does not matter.
- Open the Inputs tab and enter your firm's rules.
- Turn on Algo Trading if you want Keel to act, not only warn.
Preset files for several well known firms are included. Treat them as a starting point and check them against your firm's current rules.
What Keel does not do
- It does not make you profitable. It is not a trading strategy.
- It does not open trades. Ever.
- It cannot know your firm's rules. You have to check them and enter them.
- Its largest position figure depends on the stop loss you enter. If you move your stop later, the figure changes.
The only test we ran looked at how often accounts hit a rule when position size is capped correctly. It showed a small improvement. It is not a promise, and it says nothing about your own account.
Questions
Does it trade?
No. It never opens a position. If you turn on enforcement, it can close positions, but it never opens one.
Which firms does it work with?
Any of them. You enter the rules yourself, so it is not tied to one firm.
Does it work on gold, currencies or indices?
Yes. It reads your account, not the market.
Do I need a VPS?
No.
Why is there no win rate or profit figure?
Because the product does not produce one. It reports the state of your account. A risk tool that advertises a win rate is selling something else.
Disclaimer
Keel is a risk monitoring tool. It does not give investment advice and it does not predict the market. Your firm sets the account rules and can change them at any time, so always check them yourself. Trading with leverage can lose more than you deposit.
