Aurum Gold Breakout Pro
Aurum Gold Breakout Pro is a focused, single-input breakout Expert Advisor designed for XAUUSD (Gold). It trades long-only, capturing volatility breakouts in the direction of the higher-timeframe trend, with adaptive risk control built in.
No martingale. No grid. No averaging-down.
Every trade uses a fixed, ATR-based stop loss. Only one position is open at a time.
How It Works
-
Multi-timeframe trend filter
Uses H1 EMA200 and H4 momentum to ensure trades align with the prevailing market direction. -
Breakout confirmation logic
Donchian Channel breakouts are confirmed by an M15 candle close and filtered using ADX to avoid low-quality ranging conditions. -
Adaptive trade management
ATR-based stop loss, trailing stop, and partial profit-taking dynamically adjust to current market volatility.
Risk Management
-
Adaptive risk engine
Automatically reduces position size during losing streaks and gradually restores it as performance recovers. -
Dual circuit breaker
Daily and overall drawdown limits halt trading to protect capital. -
Optional prop-firm mode
Enforces strict daily and total loss limits for traders requiring firm-style risk control.
Simple to Use
-
RiskLevel (5–30) — the only main input, controlling position sizing aggressiveness.
Optional features such as the news filter and prop-firm mode are included, but disabled by default for simplicity.
Honest Expectations
This is a trend-following system.
It is designed to preserve capital during quiet or ranging gold markets and capture strong, sustained trends when they occur.
Returns are typically concentrated during trending periods, with flatter performance during range-bound conditions.
Best suited for personal or funded accounts that can tolerate quiet periods.
Not designed to pass strict prop-firm challenges.
Testing & Validation
-
Long-only edge
Testing across 2022–2026 shows long-only delivers higher returns with roughly half the drawdown compared to bi-directional trading on XAUUSD. -
Robust across settings
Walk-forward (out-of-sample) optimization across RiskLevel 5–30 shows mid-range values (~11–13) consistently perform best, with lower drawdowns — indicating the strategy is not overfitted to a single parameter.

FAQ
Q: Does it use martingale, grid, or averaging-down?
No. One position at a time, with a fixed ATR-based stop loss on every trade.
This is a deliberate design choice — those methods are what destroy most gold trading accounts.
Q: What pair and timeframe?
XAUUSD (Gold) on M30.
This is a specialist EA, optimized for gold — not a multi-pair system.
Q: What broker or account do I need?
Any MT5 broker that offers XAUUSD.
A low-spread / ECN account is recommended, as gold spreads have a significant impact.
Works on both Hedging and Netting accounts.
Q: Minimum deposit?
$1,000 is the tested baseline.
You can start lower and the EA will scale lot size automatically, but smaller accounts have less room to absorb normal drawdowns.
Q: Do I need a VPS?
For 24/7 operation, yes — any MT5 VPS will work.
The EA itself is lightweight and does not require high resources.
Q: How many trades will it open?
This is a low-frequency system — typically 2–3 trades per week.
Fewer trades will occur during range-bound markets.
Quiet periods are normal and part of the strategy (it waits for high-quality breakouts).
Q: Why long-only? Can it trade short?
Short trades are available but disabled by default.
Testing across 2022–2026 showed that long-only produced higher returns with roughly half the drawdown on gold, which has a long-term upward bias.
You can enable short trades in the settings if desired.
Q: What settings should I use?
Only one main parameter: RiskLevel.
The default setting works well. Walk-forward testing showed mid-range values (around 12) provided the best balance of return and drawdown.
Optional features such as the news filter and prop-firm mode are included and disabled by default.
Q: Can I use it for a prop-firm challenge?
There is an optional prop-firm mode with strict daily and overall loss limits.
However, this is a trend-following system that needs time to capture moves, so strict challenge rules may stop trading before a trend develops.
It is better suited for personal or already-funded accounts.
Q: What return should I expect?
No honest system can guarantee returns.
Performance depends on market conditions — stronger during trending periods and flatter during ranging markets.
Use the demo version and monitor the live signal to evaluate real performance.
Q: Is there a free trial?
Yes. A free demo version is available.
It is strongly recommended to test on a demo account before going live.
Q: Updates and support?
Yes. Buyers receive future updates and support.
