GTM FVG and Order Block Zones
- Indicators
- Version: 1.0
GTM FVG and Order Block Zones draws fair value gaps and order blocks as zones on a MetaTrader 5 chart, together with BOS / CHoCH marks and the strong and weak high and low of the current move. A small panel shows the trend, the nearest zone above and below the price, and the zone the price is in now.
It is a free tool for chart reading. It does not trade and does not give buy or sell signals.
| Zones are found on closed candles only A zone appears when the candle that confirms it has closed. After that it does not move and does not disappear from history: it only ends when it is broken. Zones are rebuilt only when you change a setting that changes how they are found, such as the FVG method. | ||
Fair value gaps
- A fair value gap is a three-candle pattern where the first and third candles do not overlap, leaving a gap that the middle candle moved through.
- Two ways to measure it: Wicks (the ICT definition, the gap between the wick of candle 1 and the wick of candle 3) or Bodies (the gap between the candle bodies). Switch on the panel.
- Very small gaps can be left out: the minimum size is a fraction of ATR(14), 0.15 by default. Set 0 to show all.
- An optional dotted line marks the middle (50%) of each gap.
Order blocks
- When a candle closes beyond the last swing high or low, the indicator takes the last opposite candle before that move as the order block: the last bearish candle before a break up, the last bullish candle before a break down.
- The zone covers the full candle (high to low) or the body only.
Market structure
- Swing highs and lows need a number of candles on each side (5 by default, 2 to 20). A swing is known only after those candles have closed.
- BOS (break of structure): a candle closes beyond the last swing in the direction of the trend.
- CHoCH (change of character): the first close beyond a swing against the trend. The trend changes direction.
- Strong and weak levels: in an up move, the low that started the move is the strong low and the newest high is the weak high. A down move is the mirror image.
Broken zones
- You choose when a zone counts as broken: a candle closes beyond its far edge (default), a wick goes beyond it, or the price reaches its middle.
- Broken zones can be faded (default), hidden, or kept. Faded and kept zones stop at the candle that broke them.
- Only the newest zones are drawn: 3 per type and side by default (1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 on the panel). This keeps the chart readable.
Higher-timeframe zones
- Zones from M15, M30, H1, H4, D1 or W1 can be drawn on a lower chart, for example H1 zones on an M15 chart.
- They have a dotted border and a label such as "H1 OB", so they are easy to tell apart from zones of the chart timeframe.
- The panel shows the trend of the higher timeframe next to the trend of the chart.
Panel
- Trend and the last BOS or CHoCH with its time.
- Above and Below: the nearest shown zone on each side of the price and its distance.
- Inside: the zone or zones the price is in now.
- Open: how many zones of each kind are not broken yet.
- Three buttons: A alerts on or off, S settings, - minimise. Everything in the settings list is switched with one click, and the list continues in a second column on a short chart.
- Size buttons [-] and [+], automatic dark or light theme from the chart background, and the panel can be dragged by its title. Position and settings are remembered for each chart.
Alerts
- A new zone forms, the price enters a zone, a zone is broken, a BOS or CHoCH.
- Popup, sound and push notification to the phone. Alerts are off until you press A or set them on in the inputs.
Buffers for Expert Advisors
Eight buffers can be read with iCustom. Use shift 1, the last closed candle; the forming candle repeats its values. Buffers always include FVG and order blocks of the chart timeframe. A copy loaded by an EA only fills the buffers and draws nothing on the chart.
| Buffer | Value |
| 0, 1 | Top and bottom of the nearest bullish zone below or around the close (EMPTY_VALUE if none). |
| 2, 3 | Top and bottom of the nearest bearish zone above or around the close (EMPTY_VALUE if none). |
| 4 | Trend: 1 up, -1 down, 0 not known yet. |
| 5 | Close inside a zone: 1 bullish, -1 bearish, 0 none. |
| 6, 7 | Kind of the nearest bullish / bearish zone: 1 FVG, 2 order block, 0 none. |
What it does not do
- It does not trade, does not place orders and does not draw buy or sell arrows.
- A zone is a price area where the market moved fast or turned before. It does not mean the price will react there.
- The newest zone appears after its confirming candle closes, so it is always at least one candle late. This is what keeps it from changing afterwards.
Getting started
- Drag GTM FVG and Order Block Zones onto a chart. The defaults work on any symbol and timeframe.
- Press S on the panel to switch FVG, order blocks, structure lines or higher-timeframe zones on and off.
- If the chart looks busy, lower "Zones per side" or set "Broken zones" to Hide.
- For alerts, press A and choose the alert types in the settings list.
