Eight moving averages on one chart, a BUY or SELL arrow every time the two you nominate cross, and a control panel that changes all of it without opening the inputs dialog.
Most moving-average tools give you two lines and a fixed rule. This one gives you eight lines, lets you decide which two make the signal, and lets you change your mind from the chart — period, method, colour, thickness, dash pattern, arrow shape, arrow size, and how long a cross has to hold before it counts.
Everything is saved per symbol and per timeframe. The M1 chart can run a 5/21 pair with big arrows; the H1 chart on the same symbol can run 50/200 with quiet dots. Switch the period and the right setup comes with it.

What you actually do with it
Pick the pair that makes the signal
Tap FAST or SLOW on the panel to walk through the eight lines. Whichever two you land on are the ones the arrows come from. Every other line stays on the chart as context and takes no part in the signal. You can also nominate a line from inside the line editor with SET FAST / SET SLOW.
Make a cross prove itself first
Two averages that touch and separate again give you a cross and an instant re-cross. The BARS key sets a confirmation count from 0 to 9. With BARS 4, a crossing is not a signal yet: the indicator waits for four more candles to close and checks that the fast line is still on the crossed side at every one of them. Only then is the arrow drawn — on the bar that confirmed it, because that is the bar you could have acted on.
See the signal without hunting for it
Arrows sit among the candles and are easy to miss on a dense chart. With MARK on, a signal also puts a coloured band across the top of the chart — direction, timeframe and the time it appeared — and drops a dotted line down the bar it happened on. One key turns both off again for anyone who wants the chart clean.
Change a line without leaving the chart
LINES opens the editor. Step through MA 1 to MA 8, nudge the period in steps of 1, 10 or 100, switch between SMA, EMA, SMMA and LWMA, set the width from 1 to 5 and the style from solid through dash-dot-dot. Colour opens a grid of sixteen swatches — one tap, done, no cycling through a list to find the one you wanted. The chart updates as you tap.
Keep a different setup on every timeframe
SAVE TF stores the current setup for this symbol and this chart period. Change the period and that period's own setup loads. ALL TF copies what is on screen to all twenty-one chart periods at once, for when you want one configuration to follow you everywhere. RESET returns to the values in the inputs dialog. All three ask for a second tap before they act, unless you switch CONFIRM off.
Put the panel where you want it
Grab the title bar and drag. The position is saved with the rest of the setup. The _ key rolls the panel up to its title bar, which then shows the current bias on its own.
Alerts
Three independent switches on the panel:
- SOUND — plays a wav from the terminal's Sounds folder. Any file name can be set in the inputs.
- PUSH — sends a notification to the MetaTrader mobile app. Requires your MetaQuotes ID in Tools → Options → Notifications.
- POPUP — the ordinary terminal alert window.
Each alert names the symbol, the timeframe, the time, the two averages that crossed and the price. It fires once per signal, and loading the indicator never announces signals that are already in the history.
Repainting
| With CLOSED BAR selected — the default — a cross is only evaluated on candles that have finished. An arrow that has appeared stays on that bar and never moves, and the alert for it is sent once. LIVE BAR is the opposite by design: it reacts inside the forming candle, so an arrow can appear and disappear again as price moves. Use it if you want the earliest possible warning and understand what that costs. |
What it does not do
Worth reading before you download, so you know whether it is for you.
- It does not trade. No orders, no modifications, no account access.
- It does not predict. A moving-average cross describes what price has already done.
- It is not a strategy and makes no claim about results. Two lines crossing is one input to a decision, not the decision.
- It does not scan other symbols. It works on the chart it is attached to.
- It does not send data anywhere. There is no network code in it.
Getting started
- Attach it to any chart. Four averages are on by default — LWMA 7, SMA 19, SMA 39 and SMMA 92 — with MA 1 as FAST and MA 4 as SLOW.
- Tap FAST and SLOW until the pair you trade is showing.
- Open LINES and set the periods, colours and styles you want.
- Set BARS if you want a cross to hold before it counts, and SIZE so the arrows read on your chart.
- Turn on the alerts you want, then press SAVE TF — or ALL TF to use the same setup on every period.
Input parameters
General
- Applied price (all lines) [Default: PRICE_CLOSE] — The price every average is calculated from.
- Bars to calculate [Default: 3000] — How far back the lines and arrows are drawn. 0 uses all available history and costs more CPU.
- Remember settings per timeframe [Default: true] — Saves and loads one small file per symbol and period under MQL5\Files. Off means the inputs are used every time.
Signal
- FAST line number (1-8) [Default: 1] — Which of the eight averages is the fast one.
- SLOW line number (1-8) [Default: 4] — Which one it has to cross.
- Signal only on a closed bar [Default: true] — On: nothing is decided until the candle finishes, and an arrow never moves. Off: the forming candle is evaluated too.
- Confirmation bars after the cross [Default: 0] — 0 to 9. How many further closes the fast line must stay on the crossed side before the arrow is drawn.
- Banner + line on the chart at a signal [Default: true] — The coloured band across the top and the dotted line on the signal bar.
- Arrow style (0-6) [Default: 0] — 0 arrow, 1 slim arrow, 2 hollow arrow, 3 dot, 4 circle, 5 square, 6 custom Wingdings codes.
- Arrow size (1-5) [Default: 3] — How large the icon is drawn.
- Arrow gap from the candle [Default: 15 points] — Distance between the wick and the icon.
- BUY arrow colour [Default: SpringGreen]
- SELL arrow colour [Default: Tomato]
- CUSTOM style: up / down Wingdings code [Default: 233 / 234] — Only used when the arrow style is 6.
Alerts
- Sound alert [Default: true]
- Sound file [Default: alert.wav] — Any wav in the terminal's Sounds folder.
- Mobile push notification [Default: false] — Needs your MetaQuotes ID set in the terminal options.
- Terminal popup alert [Default: false]
Panel
- Show the control panel [Default: true] — Off leaves the lines, arrows and alerts with no panel on the chart.
- Ask before SAVE / ALL TF / RESET [Default: true] — Those three keys arm on the first tap and act on the second.
- Panel X / Panel Y [Default: 12 / 22] — Starting position. Dragging the panel overrides it and the new position is saved.
MA 1 to MA 8
Each of the eight averages has the same six inputs: on, period, method (SMA, EMA, SMMA, LWMA), colour, width 1-5 and style. Defaults: MA 1 LWMA 7 gold, MA 2 SMA 19 orange dotted, MA 3 SMA 39 crimson dashed, MA 4 SMMA 92 blue, and MA 5 to MA 8 switched off at 144, 200, 50 and 10.
The two lines you nominate as FAST and SLOW are always calculated even if they are switched off, so you can run the signal from a line you do not want drawn.
Notes
- Works on every symbol and every timeframe your broker provides.
- Settings files live under MQL5\Files\GTM_MACross\, one per symbol and period. Deleting them returns everything to the inputs.
- If you change a value in the inputs dialog, the saved profile for that chart is dropped so your new value takes effect.
