OrionXAU MT5 — Automated trading for Gold and Bitcoin
OrionXAU trades gold (XAUUSD) and Bitcoin (BTCUSD) on MetaTrader 5. It offers two independent strategies in one Expert Advisor: an intraday strategy that trades inside a time window you control, and a multi-strategy engine that runs eight sub-strategies around the clock. Attach it to a gold chart, a BTCUSD chart, or both.
No grid and no martingale in the recommended settings. Every trade is protected by a stop-loss.
TWO STRATEGIES
- Strategy 4 — intraday: pending orders inside your trading window (default 01:00–17:00 market time, GMT+2/+3), a set number of trades per day, everything closed at a set hour. Stop-loss, take-profit, trailing stop, break-even and exit filter are fully configurable.
- Strategy 6 — multi-strategy engine: eight independent sub-strategies (B1 to B8) with different horizons and trade management, each with its own stop-loss, break-even and trailing. Because they rarely lose at the same time, the combined curve is smoother than any single one.
- Strategy 6 trading frequency on gold: about 3 trades per week on a small account, rising to about 4–5 trades per day when all eight sub-strategies run (2024–2026 backtest).
- Choose the strategy with one input. Run both on the same market by using two charts with different magic numbers.
TWO MARKETS
- Gold (XAUUSD / GOLD, any suffix).
- Bitcoin (BTCUSD, any suffix), including weekend trading when your broker quotes it.
- One copy of the EA per chart, each with the set file of its market.
RISK CONTROL
- Strategy 4: base lot with optional lot growth as the account grows, maximum lot, daily loss stop for the chart and for the whole account, Friday close, stale-trade and time-based exits, volatility and spread filters, daily news blackout times.
- Strategy 6: risk budget sizing — you choose the largest drawdown you accept and the EA sizes each sub-strategy from its worst historical drawdown, so the total stays inside your budget. Also risk per trade, fixed volume, or the OrionXAU lot growth. Optional daily loss cap and Friday close.
- Strategy 6 pauses around US payrolls (on by default), CPI and Fed decisions using the MetaTrader economic calendar. Nothing to configure, no URL to add.
- Broker stop and freeze levels respected, margin check, no orders while the market is closed.
DEVELOPED ON REAL TICKS
The Strategy 6 settings were optimised on 2021–2024 and kept only if they also held on 2025–2026, a period they had never seen, then checked with "Every tick based on real ticks", commissions included. On gold, every year from 2024 to 2026 was profitable in this test. Past results do not guarantee future results; test with your own broker's data, especially on BTCUSD.

- On-chart dashboard: balance, equity, open trades, status, active sub-strategies, next news pause.
- Prop-firm friendly: daily loss limits, fixed lot or low risk budget, weekend close, and two prop-firm set files for Strategy 6 on gold: PropFirm (safest) and PropFirm_Fast (faster), both also backtested with a gold spread of at least 50 points.
REQUIREMENTS
- MetaTrader 5, hedging account (required for Strategy 6).
- Gold and/or BTCUSD with low spreads. Check your broker's minimum lot on BTCUSD.
- Minimum capital: 500 USD for gold, 200 USD for BTCUSD.
- Timeframe: H1 for Strategy 6 (gold and BTCUSD) and for Strategy 4 on gold; M15 for Strategy 4 on BTCUSD. Strategy 4 depends on the chart timeframe: always use the timeframe of its set file.
- A VPS is strongly recommended: the EA must run around the clock to place and manage its orders.
QUICK START
1. Attach OrionXAU to a gold or BTCUSD chart in the timeframe given above.
2. Choose "Signal strategy selection": Strategy 4 or Strategy 6.
3. Load the set file of that market, or for Strategy 6 on gold keep the defaults and choose your risk budget.
4. On BTCUSD with Strategy 6, raise the spread cap (S6_SpreadCapPoints) to match your broker's BTCUSD spread.
5. Check the dashboard and start on a demo account.
BACKTESTING
Test each market separately with "Every tick based on real ticks". For Strategy 6, set the two server GMT offset inputs to your broker's values (usually 2 in winter and 3 in summer), because the economic calendar is not available in the Strategy Tester.
