At that time, I was working as a staff trader in a large bank. The crisis turned the markets upside down, and during massive layoffs, I lost my job. However, the bank could not take away the most important thing — colossal institutional experience, an understanding of how the "inside" of the market works, and the skills to develop complex trading systems.
Left alone with the market, I set a goal to create the perfect algorithm for the most complex and profitable asset — gold. Analyzing thousands of trades, I discovered a fatal flaw in 99% of all trading robots: they try to apply the same trading logic around the clock.
But the market is not static. It behaves completely differently depending on the time of day.
A simple example:
Compare gold at 02:00 AM (Asian session) and at 15:30 (opening of the American session). At night, the market is often squeezed in a narrow corridor with low volatility, where mean reversion strategies work perfectly. But as soon as New York wakes up, billions of dollars pour into the market, volatility skyrockets, and powerful, directional trends begin. Trying to apply a "night" flat strategy in the middle of the American session is a guaranteed loss. Every hour has its own individual "pulse," character, and unique volatility characteristics.

3. Is the algorithm protected against a sharp spread widening?
