Run it free before anything else: open Grid ADX Wilder EA in the Strategy Tester, turn on visual mode and watch the panel read trend strength, place each level and bank each closure live on the chart.
A TREND-STRENGTH GRID THAT WAITS FOR DIRECTION TO BE CONFIRMED BEFORE IT BUILDS A SINGLE LEVEL.
Grid ADX Wilder EA lets the classic Wilder directional system decide when a cycle may begin, then hands the position to a full grid management engine that keeps closing the oldest exposure piece by piece.
In short
- Entry comes from a +DI / -DI cross that only counts when ADX sits inside a strength band you choose.
- The Rising-ADX Guard ignores crosses while the trend is losing energy.
- Profits are banked in groups of oldest and newest orders, with partial slices when a whole old order is too heavy.
- No stop loss and no forced close-all; protection blocks new levels instead of dumping the book.
- Hedging and netting accounts are both supported, with every limit visible as an input.

START HERE
Symbol ideas: EURUSD or XAUUSD. Timeframe: H1 is a calm first choice. Lot: keep the default 0.01 with the additive ladder. Mode: start on Scan only, watch the plans on the panel, then switch to Armed. Test on your own broker's data first, because spreads, swaps and commissions differ.
----------
Why it carries Wilder's name
J. Welles Wilder built the Directional Movement system to answer two separate questions: which side is in control, and how strong is that control. Most grids ignore both and simply start wherever price happens to be. This EA asks both questions before it commits. The directional lines tell it which side to arm, and the ADX line tells it whether the move is real enough to be worth a cycle, or so stretched that it is better left alone.
What is new
The new Rising-ADX Guard accepts a directional cross only while ADX is climbing on the signal bar, so a cross that appears inside a fading trend no longer starts a cycle. The panel gains an ADX LENS row that labels the current strength band as WEAK, TREND or EXHAUSTED and shows whether the guard is open or holding. Margin-level timeframe safety is also included and is switched off by default.
----------
The life of one cycle
1. The reading. On every closed bar the EA reads ADX, +DI and -DI from the built-in ADX Wilder indicator. Nothing is taken from the forming candle, so the signal never repaints.
2. The cross. A BUY cycle is considered when +DI crosses above -DI; a SELL cycle when -DI crosses above +DI. The cross must also leave a minimum gap between the two lines, so a hair-thin touch is ignored.
3. The strength check. ADX must be above your minimum level, proving there is a trend at all, and below your maximum level, so the EA does not arrive late to a move that is already exhausted. With the Rising-ADX Guard on, ADX must also be rising on that bar.
4. The optional trend filter. An EMA can confirm the side: trade only with the EMA, trade only against it as a fade, or ignore it.
5. The spacing. A quiet bar gap between accepted signals keeps a choppy session from firing a burst of new cycles, and a signal can stay valid for a few bars if a level could not be placed at once.
6. The ladder. Levels open at a fixed or ATR-based distance, with a floor, a ceiling and an option to freeze the distance for the whole cycle. BUY and SELL grids can run side by side or one at a time.
7. The harvest. The closer looks for groups made of the oldest and newest orders and closes the group the moment the combined result clears your target after swap and commission. When the oldest order is still too heavy, only a slice of it is closed, paid for by profit already on the table.
8. The guard. A reopen guard refuses any closure that would immediately reopen the same level. Every leg is verified against the deal history, failed legs go to a retry queue, and a plan is dropped if the book changes between the scan and the send.
9. Optional hedge cycle. Off by default. When enabled it keeps a balanced pair on a symbol you choose and retires it in equal slices funded by a small surcharge on closures the grid already makes.
----------
The panel
The panel sits on the left and leaves the right side and the price scale clean. It shows symbol and magic number, a status pill (ARMED, SCAN ONLY or PAUSED), grid mode, lot step, spacing, banked profit, the book in lots and net result, the closing plan for each side with its own close button, the order list, an ADX PULSE row with the live readings and the ADX LENS row with the strength band and guard state. Buttons switch Armed / Scan only, Pause / Resume, chart marks and slicing. It can be dragged and minimised, adapts to the screen, and draws nothing in a non-visual backtest so optimisation stays fast.
----------
Safety you control
No stop loss and no forced close-all: when limits are reached, new levels are blocked while existing orders keep being managed.
The money check asks one plain question before every order: is there enough free margin, with a buffer, for this order?
Caps on levels per grid, orders per side and lot per order keep the ladder bounded, and the lot ladder stops growing at the level limit.
On netting accounts the margin of the merged position is kept within a percentage of equity.
Optional margin-level timeframe safety: when the margin level falls to the levels you set, the EA moves its working timeframe up so signals arrive less often, and it steps back only after margin recovers past a hysteresis cushion. Off by default.
Scan only mode shows every decision on the panel without sending a single order.

Honest expectations
A grid manages a position; it does not see the future. Grid ADX Wilder EA is careful about when a cycle starts and works steadily to keep each cycle short and each old order shrinking, but a long one-way trend can still hold the book open for a while. Pick a lot your account can carry through that, test on your own broker first, and let the Strategy Tester show you its rhythm before going live. Works on any symbol and timeframe, with no DLLs and no extra files.
If you use it, an honest review of how it behaved on your account helps other traders decide, whether your experience was good or not.
