Why Smart Money Structure Matters
Most retail indicators — moving averages, RSI, MACD — are built on lagged calculations that react after price has already moved. Smart Money traders read the market differently. They track where structure broke, where it shifted, and where institutional imbalance was left behind. These are the exact zones where banks and large funds enter and exit positions.

1. Automatic BOS and ChoCH Detection
The indicator uses a multi-step structural algorithm to identify the two most critical market events in SMC trading:
- Break of Structure (BOS): Price closes beyond the previous confirmed swing high or low. Trend is continuing. A horizontal line is drawn from the origin level to the breakout candle, with a labeled text marker at the center.
- Change of Character (ChoCH): A structural break that occurs against the current trend direction. This signals a potential reversal. The algorithm automatically distinguishes ChoCH from BOS based on the market's prior structural history — no manual interpretation needed.
Both signals are drawn only on confirmed closed bars and will never repaint or disappear from historical data.
2. HH / HL / LH / LL Market Structure Labels
Every confirmed swing point is labeled as the market develops:
- HH (Higher High) — bullish trend continuation
- LL (Lower Low) — bearish trend continuation
- HL (Higher Low) — pullback in a confirmed uptrend
- LH (Lower High) — pullback in a confirmed downtrend
Labels are placed only after structural confirmation on a closed bar. They will never appear on an unconfirmed swing still forming on the current candle.
3. Fair Value Gap (FVG) Zones
A Fair Value Gap forms when price moves so aggressively in one direction that a visible gap is left between candle one and candle three in a three-candle sequence. These zones act as institutional magnets — price regularly returns to fill them before continuing the move.
- Detects both bullish FVGs (demand imbalances) and bearish FVGs (supply imbalances)
- Zones are drawn as filled rectangles, consistent with current market structure direction
- Touch Detection: When price returns and enters a zone, the rectangle automatically updates to a "mitigated" color and style — live on every tick
4. Active Structure Level Trail
The indicator always shows you the current critical level — the exact price that, if broken by a close, would trigger the next BOS or ChoCH signal. This is drawn as a live trailing line that updates with every new structural confirmation. At a glance, you always know where the market's key decision point is right now.
5. Auto Color Detection (Dark and Light Theme)

- BOS and ChoCH signals are drawn only after a bar closes beyond the structural level. Once drawn, they are permanent and will never move or disappear.
- HH/HL/LH/LL labels are confirmed only after the pullback from the swing is confirmed on a closed bar. They are never placed on a forming swing.
- FVG zone right edges and the active trail line do extend forward in real time on the current open bar — this is live chart projection, not repainting. No historical bar is ever modified.
How to Use Trend-X Free
Attach the indicator to any chart. No special configuration is required to get started.

| 1 — Read the Trend | Look at the BOS labels. Multiple consecutive BOS signals in the same direction = strong trend. A ChoCH label = trend may be reversing. |
| 2 — Find Your Zone | After a BOS, wait for price to pull back toward an active (unmitigated) FVG zone or the active trailing level. |
| 3 — Confirm Your Entry | Use your preferred entry method (lower timeframe structure, price action, candlestick patterns) when price is inside the zone. |
| 4 — Set Your Invalidation | Use the active structure level as your stop reference. If price closes beyond it, the setup is invalid. |
