Volume Footprint is a per-price-level order flow indicator for MetaTrader 5. Instead of a single candle, each bar is broken down into individual price rows showing bid and ask volume traded at that level — so you see exactly where buyers and sellers transacted inside the bar, not just where price closed.
The indicator aggregates the chart's tick feed on a lower timeframe (auto-selected relative to the chart period, or fixed manually) and classifies each tick as bid- or ask-side using MetaTrader's own price and volume data.
Order Flow Toolkit
Point of Control (POC) — the price with the highest traded volume in the bar, drawn as a dedicated row.
Value Area — a configurable price band containing a set percentage of the bar's total volume, 70% by default.
Stacked Imbalance — flags consecutive price rows where one side dominates the other by a set ratio.
Absorption — detects large opposing volume absorbed at the bar's high or low edge without price following through.
Unfinished Auction — flags a bar that closes without the dominant side fading at the price extreme.
Naked Point of Control — tracks untested POC levels across the visible history until price returns to them.
Cumulative Delta — a running buy/sell delta engine with hysteresis-based reversal signals and bar-to-bar delta divergence against price.
Why tick volume is a reliable input
Forex is an OTC market with no single centralized exchange, so no broker or platform — this indicator included — has access to a true, consolidated volume tape. MetaTrader's tick volume (the count of price updates per bar) is the industry-standard proxy used across virtually every retail and institutional FX platform, and it correlates closely with real trading activity in liquid pairs: more transactions produce more price updates. Where a broker supplies real tick-level volume, the indicator uses it directly; where it doesn't, the footprint is built from tick count exactly as documented, with no interpolation, smoothing, or invented data filling gaps in thin or off-hours sessions. What you see is what the feed actually reported.
Part of the Global Investing suite
Volume Footprint is part of the Global Investing suite alongside the Global Investing FX Terminal, CSI Currency Strength, Carry Trade Monitor, and Institutional Risk Manager — built on the same principle: no fabricated data, no smoothed-over gaps, and every reading traceable back to what MetaTrader actually fed the indicator.
