Weekly Edge 2.0 – Major Update from Weekly Edge 1.1
Weekly Edge 2.0 is a major development of the original Weekly Edge 1.1 strategy.
Weekly Edge 1.1 was primarily a previous-week high/low breakout system. Version 2.0 keeps the weekly breakout concept but adds a completely new weekly rejection strategy, separate risk management for each setup, and more refined trade management.
What’s New in Weekly Edge 2.0
- New Previous Week Rejection Setup – The EA can now trade price rejection from the previous weekly candle body instead of relying only on breakouts. The setup uses H1 confirmation, a 3-pip reclaim condition and trades Monday to Thursday.
- ATR-Based Rejection Stop Loss – Rejection trades use ATR(14) × 2.5, with the stop constrained between approximately 15 and 35 pips.
- 2.25R Rejection Target – Rejection trades use a fixed reward-to-risk target of 2.25R.
- Separate Risk per Strategy – Rejection trades use 0.5% risk, while weekly breakout trades use 1% risk.
- Updated Breakout Logic – The original weekly breakout remains, but the tested configuration now uses a 12-pip initial SL, 0-pip breakout buffer, and M5 SMMA(7) for trade management.
- Closed M5 Candle for MA Management – The breakout module uses the completed M5 MA value instead of reacting to an unfinished candle.
- Separate Trade Identification – Rejection and breakout trades use different Magic Numbers, allowing each strategy to be tracked and managed independently.
- Monday–Thursday Trading – Friday entries are disabled for both strategies.
- Combined Weekly System – Instead of waiting only for price to break the previous week's range, Version 2.0 can exploit two different behaviours around the same weekly structure: rejection and breakout.
Weekly Edge 1.1 vs Weekly Edge 2.0
| Metric | Weekly Edge 1.1 | Weekly Edge 2.0 |
|---|---|---|
| Initial Balance | $100,000 | $100,000 |
| Profit Factor | 1.80 | 2.30 |
| Max Equity Drawdown | 13.15% | 4.28% |
| Max Balance DD | 11.27% | 3.23% |
| Recovery Factor | 5.52 | 12.56 |
| Net Profit | $113,907 | $112,770 |
| Total Trades | 227 | 201 |
| Win Rate | 55.51% | 48.76% |
| Average Winning Trade | $2,034 | $2,038 |
| Average Losing Trade | -$1,410 | -$805 |
| Strategies | Breakout | Rejection + Breakout |
The most important improvement is not the win rate. Version 2.0 actually wins less often, but loses much less when it is wrong.
The average winning trade remains almost identical at around $2,000, while the average losing trade falls from approximately -$1,410 to -$805. This is a major reason why Profit Factor increases from 1.80 to 2.30 while equity drawdown falls from 13.15% to 4.28%.
The Recovery Factor also increases significantly from 5.52 to 12.56, showing a substantially better relationship between generated profit and experienced drawdown.
Important Test Note
The test periods are currently different:
Weekly Edge 1.1: 2021-01-01 → 2025-02-27
Weekly Edge 2.0: 2021-01-01 → 2026-09-13
Therefore, the net profit figures should not yet be treated as a direct head-to-head comparison.
The clearest improvement we can already see is in the strategy's risk profile: PF 1.80 → 2.30 and Equity DD 13.15% → 4.28%.
Old version
Weekly Edge 1.10 FX — Weekly Breakout Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5
Overview
Weekly Edge FX is a fully automated Expert Advisor designed to trade breakouts of the previous week's high and low using pending orders.
The system places Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders at key breakout levels, ensuring precise execution even during fast market moves. Once a breakout is triggered, the trade is managed automatically using a moving average trailing stop and optional profit-based exit.
No martingale. No grid. One breakout trade per week, per symbol.
How It Works
Weekly breakout levels
At the start of each new weekly candle, the EA records the high and low of the previous week. These levels define the breakout zones.
Pending order execution (no missed trades)
The EA places Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders above and below the breakout levels. This ensures the trade is executed even if price moves quickly or gaps through the level.
Smart trade management
Once a position is opened:
-
Opposite pending order is automatically removed
-
A Moving Average (M5) trails the stop loss
-
Optional profit target can close the trade early
Controlled exposure
Only one trade per week per symbol is allowed, preventing overtrading.
