TapeTrap Pro — Catch the Trap Before the Breakout
TapeTrap Pro is a professional order-flow-inspired trading system built for traders who understand that price rarely moves in a straight line — it gets absorbed first. Before every strong breakout candle, there is almost always a phase where large opposing volume prints repeatedly at the exact same price level without moving the market. This is absorption: big participants quietly building or defending a position while price is "trapped" in a tight range. TapeTrap Pro is engineered to detect this exact phenomenon in real time and trade the breakout that follows it, the same way professional order-flow and footprint-chart traders read the tape manually.
The engine works by scanning recent price action for bars that combine two conditions at once: volume significantly above the local average, and a price range that stays unusually narrow relative to current volatility (measured against ATR). When several of these high-volume, narrow-range bars cluster around the same price zone within a configurable tolerance, TapeTrap Pro flags it as an active absorption zone. It then waits patiently — it does not chase price — until the market confirms a genuine breakout beyond that zone with a defined buffer, at which point it enters in the direction of the break with a fully calculated stop loss and take profit based on current ATR, not fixed pip values that break down across different volatility regimes.
Risk is handled the way a serious trading operation would handle it. Position size is calculated automatically from a percentage of account equity and the actual stop-loss distance in points, so exposure stays consistent regardless of the instrument's tick value or the size of the stop. A spread filter blocks entries when trading costs spike beyond an acceptable threshold, protecting the strategy from slippage-heavy execution during news or thin liquidity. An ATR-based trailing stop locks in profit progressively once a trade has moved a defined distance in its favor, without needing constant supervision. Every order carries a unique magic number and comment, so TapeTrap Pro can run alongside other systems on the same account without interference, and its position-management logic works cleanly on netting accounts, since it tracks and manages a single aggregated position per symbol rather than assuming independent hedged tickets.
None of this happens silently. TapeTrap Pro includes a built-in professional dashboard rendered directly on the chart, showing the current symbol, live signal state, spread, ATR, open position status, account equity, and floating profit or loss, updated every second. This means a trader never has to guess what the EA is thinking — the panel makes the logic visible and gives confidence that the system is actively working the market rather than sitting idle.
Every input that matters is exposed and adjustable: the lookback window for zone detection, the volume multiplier that defines what counts as "high volume," the ATR ratio that defines a "narrow" bar, the number of repeated touches required to confirm a zone, the breakout confirmation buffer, ATR multipliers for stop loss and take profit, trailing stop behavior, risk percentage, maximum allowable spread, and lot sizing — either risk-based or fixed. This makes TapeTrap Pro flexible across instruments and timeframes, from fast-moving indices and metals to major forex pairs, and allows a trader to tune sensitivity to match the character of whatever market they are trading.
