TrendDrift Oscillator is a double-smoothed mean deviation oscillator for MetaTrader 5.
It measures how far price has drifted from its exponential moving average (EMA), then applies two layers of EMA smoothing to filter out noise and produce clean, actionable trend signals.
How It Works:
1. Calculates an EMA of the selected price source
2. Measures the deviation between price and the EMA
3. Applies a first layer of EMA smoothing to the deviation
4. Applies a second layer of EMA smoothing (the TrendDrift line)
5. Generates a signal line (EMA of the TrendDrift)
Color-Coded Signals:
- Dark Green: Strong Buy (TrendDrift above zero and rising)
- Lime: Normal Buy (TrendDrift rising but below zero)
- Orange-Red: Normal Sell (TrendDrift falling but above zero)
- Red: Strong Sell (TrendDrift below zero and falling)
Inputs:
- Price Source: Close, Open, High, Low, Median, Typical, or Weighted
- EMA Period (default 32): Base mean period
- First Smoothing (default 5): First EMA smoothing layer
- Second Smoothing (default 5): Second EMA smoothing layer
- Signal Period (default 5): Signal line EMA period
The indicator displays in a separate window below the chart with a zero reference line. The main TrendDrift line uses color coding for instant visual identification of trend strength and direction, while the dotted white signal line provides crossover confirmation.
