Q: How to set the correct DST and GMT settings in the properties? 

A: When the market is open, SI Connect can automatically determine your terminal's current active GMT shift. You'll find the information in the SI Connect status.



Regarding the DST change date, you have to ask your broker's support team. 

‼️IMPORTANT‼️
If it's summer and the DST is active, the displayed value includes the DST shift. So the pure GMT shift (which is always active throughout the entire year) is the printed value -1. In this example, the result would be 0. 

So in my TAURUS settings, I need to set GMT shift = 0

Additional information to the TAURUS SL management.

TAURUS uses two distinct stop-loss strategies:
1. A visible stop loss that is set with the broker.
2. An invisible stop loss that is managed internally within the EA.

The reason for utilizing two different strategies is to counteract the wide spreads that often occur at night, after the New York session ends and before the Asian session begins. These wide spreads can lead to unnecessary trade exits, which could be avoided as the market typically stabilizes shortly after. 

To mitigate this, a wider stop loss is communicated to the broker, while TAURUS internally applies an ADR-based stop loss that calculates the correct risk percentage.

All our Expert Advisors utilize a swap filter to circumvent steep fees incurred from maintaining open positions overnight. 

The screenshot illustrates that high swaps render a USDJPY short trade unappealing to traders, whereas a USDJPY long trade becomes more enticing to market participants because they receive payment from the positive swap.

Our swap filter serves as a proven efficient mechanism to sidestep unfavourable and expensive trades. 

With our threshold set at a maximum allowable swap of -10, TAURUS will not carry out any USDJPY SELL trades.

In addition to the demonstrated live performance, all our backtests validate the beneficial impact of the swap filter.

⚠️ TAURUS FAQ ⚠️ 

Based on the questions of the last days, we created this little FAQ for all interested traders.

Backtest:
It's essential to configure the URLs and run SI Connect before you start the backtest.
There is also an olderbacktest setup tutorial video for our SIEA serieson our YouTube channel which demonstrates all steps in detail, and which are identical for TAURUS.

Minimum deposit:
We suggest starting with a small amount of at least 1000 USD to see how TAURUS performs. If you are pleased with the results, you can always increase the amount managed by TAURUS later.

Chart:
I usually run my EAs on EURUSD, H1, but it doesn't matter because our EAs are designed to work 100% identical on all chart/time frame combinations.
 
Purchase option:
At present, we do not have plans to introduce a purchase option. 
We are convinced that providing an affordable monthly rental option is the optimal strategy to ensure the broadest possible access to this masterpiece. 

Volume data:
We record the volume data since October 2018, which is why you can't backtest any of our EAs before that. Of course, we will maintain this service because this data is unique, and we are committed to our many hundreds of FX Volume and EA users.

VPS:
If you lack experience in computer setup, opt for the MQL5VPS, which is designed for simplicity. However, if you need to operate multiple terminals and Expert Advisors continuously, a dedicated VPS like those offered by Contabo would be more suitable, though it requires some time to set up and maintain.

Dear TAURUS users,

This week unfortunately brought us some unpleasant losses, especially in EURGBP where one SL followed another.
We then thought about whether a trading pause after an SL might be useful to prevent such scenarios.
So we programmed such a pause option and would like to present the test results to you here.
In the first test we only tested July 2024 because we wanted to see the effect on the previous week's results and there was a positive effect in all tested variants.
We then tested the entire period since October 2018, and this result shows us the impact of this new option in the long term. And you can clearly see the negative impact of the trading pause.
At 0, the pause option is inactive and brings a profit of 533K, at 4 hours pause after an SL, the profit drops to 418K. This clearly shows that pausing after the SL is not a wise option in the long term.

Hey Daniel & Alain,

I just bought a 3-months subscription to give it a try with your interesting EA.


When trying to run the Taurus MT5 the Agents pulled the histories of all required FX histories were successfully downloaded.

However, the ST abrupts the run. The Journal shows the following error:

2024.08.29 12:54:34.816 Core 01 2021.01.03 23:01:00   CADCHF: No trading on this symbol as swap rates are not properly set.
2024.08.29 12:54:34.816 Core 01 removed itself on 0% of testing interval

I left all input parameters as per default. The "ST Connect MT5" is running in a separate terminal window (with no errors showing) and

I also set your two server URLs in the "allow WebRequest for listed URL" settings ;)


Any ideas what I might have been missing?

Same for running the Taurus MT5 in a live chart. I selected USDCAD.

The Experts tab spit out the following errors:

Btw. I'm using netting on my broker, so I don't understand why your EA is saying that.
