"Aurum Ratchet is an expert advisor for gold (XAUUSD) working from the H1 timeframe. It uses one trend filter, one momentum filter and a stop loss that moves in one direction only. No grid, no martingale, no averaging into losses."
How an entry is formed.
The signal is read from the H1 series, not from the chart timeframe. A long is considered when the H1 close is above the 100-period EMA and RSI(14) is between 30 and 55. A short is considered when the close is below the same EMA and the RSI is between 45 and 70. RSI acts as an over-extension filter, so the EA stays out when momentum is stretched at either extreme.
The signal is evaluated once, on the first tick of a new H1 bar. Movement inside the bar does not produce a second entry. Entries are also filtered by a session window that supports cross-midnight hours (15:00 to 11:00 by default), by a maximum spread, and by the symbol's real trading session, so nothing is sent during a daily break or after the Friday close.
How a position is managed.
Each position opens with a fixed stop loss and take profit of 400 and 250 pips by default. One pip is ten points, which on a two-digit gold quote is 40.00 and 25.00.
When profit reaches the activation level (160 pips by default), the EA starts moving the stop. The first move sets it at entry plus or minus the lock distance (160 pips by default), and it is sent only after price has moved far enough beyond it for the broker to accept the order.
From then on the stop follows the price and never moves backwards. The increment is set by the trailing step in points, but the EA also reads the symbol's stop level, freeze level and current spread and keeps the stop at least as far away as the widest of these. On a symbol with a wide minimum distance, trailing operates at that distance instead of at the raw input value. The stop loss order performs the exit.
If a modification is refused, that position is paused for 60 seconds and the distance is widened, so a rejected request is not repeated on every tick.
Position size and exposure
Three sizing modes are available: fixed lot, a percentage of balance risked over the stop distance, and a balance-step model that scales volume with the account. The result is rounded down to the broker's volume step and clamped to its minimum and maximum. Before sending, each order is checked with OrderCalcMargin and OrderCheck, and the volume is reduced until it fits the available margin.
The default maximum is two positions on a hedging account. On a netting account the EA limits itself to one position per symbol, because a second entry only adds exposure to the same net position.
Sessions
The EA can close all positions at a fixed server hour on Friday (22:30 by default) and optionally on Wednesday. This is a time-based exit. It does not remove the risk of gaps, slippage, or a broker closing earlier.

Before you run it
The EA is built mainly for XAUUSD and needs enough history for the H1 indicators. Check contract size, stop level and spread with your broker and test on demo first. Backtests are simulations and depend on the broker's execution, spread and swap.
