TWO ENTRY MODES - TRADE THE NEWS YOUR WAY CONFIRMED BREAKOUT (default) Nothing is placed before the release. The EA waits for the number, confirms the breakout, checks the spread and only then enters at market. Fake spikes and whipsaws are filtered out before you ever take the trade. SMART STRADDLE Prefer to catch the move from the very first tick? Switch on straddle mode. Seconds before the release, the EA places a Buy Stop above and a Sell Stop below price. When one side fills, the other is cancelled instantly. If nothing triggers, both orders are removed automatically. Unlike basic straddle EAs, it: - Won't place orders while the spread is already blown out - Never leaves a one-sided order on the server - Attaches stop loss and take profit to the orders from the start - Cleans up every unfilled order after the release Run the straddle only on the pairs that move cleanest on NFP and FOMC (USDJPY, EURUSD and GBPUSD by default), and use the confirmed breakout everywhere else.

Red Folder EA reads the ForexFactory red-folder calendar automatically, with the MetaTrader 5 economic calendar as a backup. It knows when every high-impact release is coming and counts down to it on your chart:

- NFP, CPI, FOMC, ECB, BoE, BoJ, RBA, BoC, SNB, RBNZ and more

- Trade every red folder, or only the ones you choose (NFP, CPI, rate decisions, GDP...)

- Speeches, testimonies and press conferences are skipped automatically, because they don't produce a clean release spike

- Switch each currency on or off: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, AUD, NZD, CAD

When news hits, the EA trades only the symbols that contain that currency. USD news moves USDJPY, EURUSD, gold and the other dollar pairs. EUR and GBP news moves EURGBP.

Red Folder EA tests it for you on your own broker's live data. After every release, it tracks the previous week's and previous day's highs and lows, and runs two simulated strategies alongside the live engine: fading the level, and trading the breakout retest. Every result is scored in R and saved to a CSV file. These simulations never place real orders. They give you hard evidence instead of opinions.

A NOTE ON BACKTESTING

News trading is one of the hardest strategies to backtest accurately, and we believe you should know that upfront.

The Strategy Tester fills orders instantly at the exact price, with no slippage, no execution delay, and spreads that are often far calmer than they really are in the seconds after a release. Real news trading includes all of these. That means backtest results will usually look better than live trading.

Use the backtest to see how the EA behaves: how it waits for the release, confirms the breakout, and manages each trade. Don't treat it as a forecast of live performance. For the most realistic test, run the EA on a demo account through a few live releases.

Backtests run out of the box using a built-in US Nonfarm Payrolls schedule. Live trading uses the full ForexFactory / MT5 red-folder calendar. For the closest results, backtest on M1 or M5 with "Every tick based on real ticks".
