Caelion Gold Pro is a basket Expert Advisor for XAUUSD on a hedging account, H1 chart. Eight strategy families trade side by side; positions are added at fixed steps without multiplying lots, and each basket closes at a common target. Four presets are built in and chosen from the Preset input. Strategy Tester, IC Markets XAUUSD, January 2019 to 16 October 2026, USD 5,000, 1:100: largest equity drawdown 50.7% on the default preset and 33.1% on Shield; no preset ended in a stop-out. These are simulations, not live results.
Quick start
- Open an XAUUSD H1 chart on a hedging account.
- Drag the EA onto the chart.
- In Inputs, open Preset and pick one.
- Leave the terminal running; a VPS is recommended.
Key features
- Default settings are now the Max Profit preset: the one with the largest net profit in our 2019 to 2026 tests.
- Three more presets ship inside the EA: Shield, Aggressive and Balanced. Each one is explained with its own result in the user guide.
- Choose your preset from the Preset list, the first input in the EA settings. No file to download or load.
- The broker clock is found automatically. The EA works out your broker's time zone and summer time and trades the same hours for every buyer, in any country.
- A no-add window from 21:00 to 01:00 on the strategy clock: during the thin hours around the daily gold break, open baskets keep their exits and stops but add no new levels.
- A loose basket stop at 55% of balance as a safety net. It never triggered in the 2019 to 2026 test.
- Every input is described in the user guide: what it does, why it exists, the range we tested and where the results fall off.
The 2019 to 2026 test includes the gold sell-offs of 7 and 16 October 2026. The EA has no hard-coded dates and no news calendar, so nothing in it knew those days were coming.
How it trades
Caelion Gold Pro is a basket Expert Advisor built for XAUUSD on a hedging account. Eight independent strategy families run side by side, each with its own signal timeframe (M5 to M15), its own trading hours and its own direction: six buy, two sell. A family enters only at the open of a new bar, when two separate momentum readings taken from closed candles agree. Entry decisions never use a forming candle.
When price moves against an open basket, the EA can add positions of the same size at fixed price steps, then closes the whole basket at a common profit target. This is grid averaging. Lots are never multiplied (no martingale), but total exposure grows while a basket is losing. That is the price of the method, and it is why the protection inputs exist.
Presets
- Max Profit (default): USD 5,000 to USD 11.41M, profit factor 4.37, largest equity drawdown 50.7%.
- Shield: basket stop at 28% of balance, without the no-add window. USD 5,000 to USD 5.11M, profit factor 1.75, drawdown 33.1%. Margin level never fell under 85%.
- Aggressive: USD 5,000 to USD 3.70M, profit factor 1.70, drawdown 30.8%. Choose this one if you want margin to stay above 100%: margin level never fell under 112% in the test.
- Balanced: USD 5,000 to USD 2.01M, profit factor 1.72, drawdown 36.8%.
All figures: IC Markets XAUUSD history, H1, USD 5,000 start, 1:100 leverage, 30 ms execution delay, ticks generated by the tester. No preset ended in a stop-out.
How to choose a preset
The MQL5 Market does not deliver .set files, so the presets are built into the EA. Drag the EA onto an XAUUSD H1 chart, open the Inputs tab and choose Preset, the first input: Max Profit, Shield, Aggressive, Balanced or Custom. Nothing else needs to be set. Custom uses the individual inputs exactly as you type them; a saved .set file only matters with Custom.
Things the tests taught us
- Leverage 1:100 did better than 1:500 with the same settings: USD 11.41M against USD 6.21M, because the higher leverage lets baskets grow larger before the margin limit stops them.
- Ending the no-add window one hour later, at 02:00, cut the net profit to USD 4.66M. The guide shows each tested window.
- Closing baskets by age (the max basket hours input) is available but off. In our test it cut the net profit by more than 90%.
Requirements
- XAUUSD (or your broker's gold symbol), H1 chart, hedging account. On a netting account the EA holds one position at a time and does not build baskets.
- A VPS or an always-on terminal. Exits are managed by the EA; broker-side stop-loss and take-profit orders are not attached.
- On start the EA prints CLOCK OK, or a warning that names the hour where it found your broker's daily break.
- Recommended start: USD 1,000 or more with a protected preset, USD 5,000 for Max Profit.
Important limits
These are simulations on past data, not live results. The settings were chosen on the same history they are shown on, and the next drawdown can be deeper than any shown here. Grid baskets can lose much more than a single trade; gaps, slippage and rejected orders can push a loss past any configured limit, and a deposit can be lost entirely. Run the EA on a demo account first with your broker's real spread, commission and swap.
