ORB Guard
ORB Guard is an Expert Advisor for intraday trading based on the Opening Range Breakout (ORB) strategy. It defines the range of the first minutes of the trading session, waits for its breakout in the direction of the trend, and enters a trade with a pre-calculated risk.
I built it for myself, with a focus on stability rather than huge gains. It is based on three filters that cut off ranging markets and weak movements, and strict risk management that prevents a single trade from dragging down the deposit.
How it works
-
Opening Range. At the start of the session, the EA records the high and low over a specified number of minutes.
-
Trend filter. On a higher timeframe, the direction is checked using EMA. The EA trades only in the direction of the trend.
-
Strength filter. ADX cuts off ranging markets — if there is no trend, no entry is opened.
-
Entry. Breakout of the ORB boundary in the direction of the trend on bar close.
-
Exit. ATR-based stop loss beyond the range boundary, take profit with a specified risk/reward ratio. Break-even and ATR-based trailing stop.
-
Protection. Daily loss limit, spread limit, lot calculated from risk per trade.
