Why Relay |
| Fully automated. It opens, manages and closes its own trades. You attach it once. | One trend position at a time. At most two positions in all, and no grid, no martingale, no averaging down, no recovery multiplier. |
| A stop loss on every trade, sent with the order itself. No position ever sits on the server without one. | Three engines, and the market's measured condition decides which one may act. |
| Prop firm mode that holds itself inside your firm's own limits. | A live dashboard that shows what it is doing and why. |
Three engines, and the market picksGold does not behave the same way every week, so Relay does not trade it the same way. |
| The trend engine joins a sustained move and gives the winner room to run. |
| BOLT, the fast engine. When a move lacks conviction, it takes the smaller, quicker profit instead of waiting for a target that is not coming. |
| COVE, the quiet-market engine. It works the conditions the trend engine sits out, instead of forcing a trend trade into a market with no trend in it. |
| BOLT and COVE can each be switched off, and the input dialog tells you what that costs before you do it. The stop distance follows the volatility the market is actually showing: wider in a storm, tighter in calm conditions. Risk control |
| The hard risk cap skips a trade that would risk more than your set percentage of the balance. It does not shrink the trade to fit. A trade that does not fit is not taken. |
| Daily and weekly loss brakes (3% and 6% by default) stop new entries after a bad run and release in the next period, and six losses in a row bring a 24-hour pause. |
| Flat before the weekend, so no position is carried through the Sunday gap. |
Prop firm mode |
| One switch changes three things: sizing becomes a percentage of the balance, the position count is held at one, and the news filter is forced on, including closing an open trade before the news. You then enter your firm's rules in the firm's own terms: the daily limit, the total limit, whether the total trails your equity peak, and whether the daily figure is measured from the initial balance, the current balance or the greater of the two. A firm whose day resets at a different hour from your broker's midnight is handled with an hour shift. Relay keeps itself inside those numbers instead of leaving you to watch them. |
What you see on the chart |
| A dashboard with the market condition, the open trade, today's, this month's and all-time result, the win rate, the loss brake and the next lot step. | In prop mode, the daily loss room and the total drawdown room, counted down as it trades. |
| The last ten trades, each with the reason it ended. | An optional detailed log that prints every signal, the decision on it and each lot calculation. |
News filter |
| Off by default, and forced on in prop mode. It reads MetaTrader 5's built-in economic calendar and makes no internet request of its own. You choose the currencies (USD and EUR by default), high impact only or medium and high, the minutes blocked before and after (30 and 30 by default), and whether an open trade is closed before the event. The calendar is not available inside the Strategy Tester, so a backtest runs without the news filter. |
Backtest |
| 824 trades | 62.3% closed in profit | 1.66 profit factor | +121,447 USD net result | 29.6% max equity drawdown, on very high risk settings |
| XAUUSD, 1 Jan 2025 to 29 Sep 2026, 99% real ticks, IC Markets, 10,000 USD, default settings, which are very high risk settings. This is a backtest, not a live result. Another broker's spread and tick data give different numbers. Built for today's gold market |
| Relay was built and validated on the XAUUSD market regime of 2025 onward, which is why the backtest above starts on 1 January 2025. Earlier years may test flat or negative, and Relay says so on the chart whenever you test a period before 2025. If gold's market regime changes, Relay will be re-validated for the new one. |
What to expect, honestly |
| Drawdown is normal, and it will happen. On these very high risk settings the backtest above went 23.1% below its equity peak in 2025 and 28.9% in 2026, inside years that both ended in profit. A run of several losing trades in a row is ordinary operation, not a sign that something is broken. If that is more than you want, choose a lower profile: Medium trades about half the size of High on the same balance, Low about a tenth. No strategy works forever. Gold's character changes, and a system built for one kind of market will eventually meet one it was not built for. The protections above limit how fast the damage can happen. They cannot turn a hostile market into a profitable one. The spread matters. Gold moves fast and its spread is wide. A broker adding a markup on XAUUSD will visibly erode a result that a raw-spread account keeps. A VPS close to the broker helps for the same reason. |
Support |
| Questions, bug reports and feature requests reach the developer directly through MQL5 messages. Please include your broker, your account type and the terminal's log for the day in question. That is usually enough to answer in one reply. |
| Trading leveraged products carries a substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. Past performance, including any backtest, does not guarantee future results. Nothing here is financial advice. You alone are responsible for your trading decisions and for following your broker's and your country's rules. Never risk money you cannot afford to lose. |
