Smart Money order block detection, volume-weighted confirmation, and full BOS/CHoCH market structure — all in one indicator.
Overview
Volumetric Order Blocks finds and draws institutional order blocks directly on your chart, then backs every one of them up with real market data — volume, internal buy/sell activity, and precise market-structure context — so you're not just looking at a box, you're looking at why that box matters.
Instead of guessing where "smart money" entered the market, this indicator automatically detects internal and swing structure breaks, classifies each one as a Break of Structure (BOS) or Change of Character (CHoCH / CHoCH+), and anchors order blocks to the exact candle responsible for the move — complete with the volume behind it. Order blocks stay live and update in real time until price mitigates them, and you can choose whether mitigated blocks disappear or remain on chart as a faded historical reference.
Whether you trade Smart Money Concepts (SMC), ICT-style price action, or simply want a cleaner way to visualize where high-probability supply and demand zones sit, this tool is built to run continuously on any symbol and timeframe without repainting.
Key Features
🔲 Automatic Order Block Detection Bullish and bearish order blocks are drawn automatically the moment a structure break is confirmed — no manual marking required.
📊 Volume-Weighted Confirmation Every order block displays its source candle's volume and what share of recent volume it represents, so you can immediately see which zones carry real weight and which don't.
🔄 Full Market Structure Tracking (BOS / CHoCH / CHoCH+) Internal structure is continuously tracked and every break is labeled:
- BOS — trend continuation
- CHoCH — a trend reversal
- CHoCH+ — a stronger reversal, confirmed by a higher-low or lower-high pattern forming beforehand
📈 Internal Buy/Sell Activity A built-in activity meter inside each order block visualizes the push-and-pull between buyers and sellers within that zone.
🌊 Swing Order Blocks A second, longer-term structure layer highlights major swing-level order blocks separately from short-term internal ones — with its own colors and styling.
♻️ Broken Order Block Memory Choose what happens when a block is mitigated: let it disappear immediately (default), or keep it on chart as a frozen, faded reference so you can always see where price has already reacted.
🎨 Fully Customizable Visuals Every color, opacity, label, and line is adjustable — including a one-click grayscale mode for a cleaner, monochrome chart.
🔔 Smart Alerts Get notified the moment a new order block forms, a BOS/CHoCH/CHoCH+ occurs, or price re-enters an untouched order block — with optional push notifications to your phone.
✅ Non-Repainting All detection and drawing is based on confirmed, closed candles — what you see is what already happened, not a preview that can change.
How It Works
- Pivots are tracked on two timeframes at once — a short "internal" lookback for reactive, short-term structure, and a longer "swing" lookback for the bigger picture.
- When price breaks a pivot level, the indicator looks back to the source candle responsible for the move and draws an order block around it — sized and positioned using your chosen method.
- Every break is classified as a continuation (BOS) or a reversal (CHoCH/CHoCH+), so you always know the context behind each new zone.
- Order blocks stay active until price closes back through them (mitigation), at which point they're either removed or archived, depending on your settings.
- Overlapping zones are automatically cleaned up, so your chart stays readable even in choppy conditions.
Complete Settings Guide
🧭 Market Structure
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Internal Lookback | How reactive short-term structure detection is. Lower = more sensitive, more frequent structure breaks. |
| Swing Lookback | Same idea, but for the bigger picture / longer-term structure. |
| Market Structure Mode | Manual uses your fixed lookback values. Dynamic automatically adjusts sensitivity based on recent volatility. |
| Show BOS Plots | Toggle Break of Structure lines/labels on or off. |
| Show CHoCH Plots | Toggle Change of Character (CHoCH/CHoCH+) lines/labels on or off. |
| Internal Bullish/Bearish MS Color | Colors used for structure break lines and labels. |
| MS Label Font Size | Size of the BOS/CHoCH text labels. |
| Max BOS/CHoCH Objects Kept On Chart | Caps how many structure break markers stay drawn, to keep charts fast and uncluttered on long histories. |
🔲 Volumetric Order Blocks
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show Last N Order Blocks | Turns internal (short-term) order blocks on or off. |
| Order Blocks Count | How many of the most recent order blocks are displayed (1–10). |
| Internal Buy/Sell Activity | Shows the buyer/seller activity meter inside each order block. |
| Metric Up/Down Color | Colors for the buy-side and sell-side activity meter. |
| Show Swing Order Blocks | Turns on the separate, longer-term swing order block layer. |
| Swing Up/Down Color | Colors used for swing order blocks. |
| Mitigation Trigger | Absolute invalidates a block when price closes fully through it. Middle invalidates it once price closes through the block's midpoint — a looser, earlier trigger. |
| Keep Broken/Mitigated Order Blocks | If enabled, mitigated blocks stay on chart — frozen in place and re-styled to match the swing color scheme — instead of disappearing. |
| Positioning | Controls exactly how a block's boundary is measured from its source candle: Full (wick-to-wick), Middle (average price), Accurate or Precise (body-weighted, tighter zones). |
| Grayscale | Renders every order block in shades of gray instead of color. |
| Show Volume/% Text | Displays each block's volume and its percentage share of recent activity. |
| Show Middle Line | Draws a midline through each order block. |
| Hide Overlapping Blocks | Automatically removes order blocks that overlap each other. |
| Overlap Method | Recent keeps the newest of two overlapping blocks. Previous keeps the older one. |
| Bullish/Bearish OB Color | Base colors for active (unmitigated) order blocks. |
| Box Transparency % | How see-through active order block fills are. |
| Metric Box Transparency % | How see-through the internal activity meter fill is. |
📡 Data / Alerts
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Use Real Volume | Uses your broker's actual traded volume instead of tick volume, where available. |
| Bars of History to Process | How far back the indicator analyzes to build its order block history. Higher values see more history at the cost of extra processing. |
| Enable Alert() | Turns on pop-up alerts for new order blocks, BOS/CHoCH events, and price re-entering a fresh order block. |
| Also Send Push Notification | Sends the same alerts to your phone via push notification. |
