Rollback Renegade — Entry on a Rollback After a Breakout
Rollback Renegade is a fully automated trend-following Expert Advisor built around one of the most reliable price-action patterns in trading: a structural breakout followed by a controlled retracement entry. Rather than chasing price the moment a breakout occurs — which exposes traders to poor fill prices and false breakouts — Rollback Renegade waits patiently for the market to pull back to a calculated level before committing capital. This approach is designed to secure better entry pricing, reduce exposure to breakout traps, and align every trade with the dominant short-term trend.
How It Works
The EA continuously monitors a configurable number of recent candlesticks (N) to establish a breakout range defined by their highest high and lowest low. When price closes beyond that range, the direction of the breakout — upward or downward — is registered as the prevailing trend. Instead of entering immediately, Rollback Renegade then measures the range of the breakout candle itself and calculates a rollback threshold based on a user-defined percentage (S, from 0 to 99). Only once price retraces to that specific level does the EA open a position in the direction of the original breakout, using your specified lot size. This wait-and-confirm mechanism is central to the system's design philosophy: entries are earned, not rushed.
Risk Management Built Into Every Trade
Every position opened by Rollback Renegade is managed by a two-layer protection system. First, a profit-lock mechanism activates once floating profit reaches a defined threshold (Y points), at which point the stop loss is moved to guarantee a minimum positive result (Z points) — ensuring that a winning trade cannot turn into a loss once it has proven itself. Second, a structural invalidation exit constantly checks whether price has broken through the range of the last F candlesticks (configurable from 1 to 9) against the direction of the open position. If the market structure itself turns against the trade, the position is closed rather than held hostage to a fixed stop loss that may be too far away or too tight. A conventional take-profit target (X points) is also available for traders who prefer a fixed exit, and can be disabled entirely for those who prefer to let the structural exit manage the trade.
Timeframe and Market Flexibility
Rollback Renegade is optimized by default for the M15 timeframe but operates on any timeframe the trader attaches it to, from scalping charts to swing-trading intervals, making it adaptable to a wide range of trading styles and account sizes. It is symbol-agnostic and can be run on forex pairs, metals, indices, or any instrument available on the MetaTrader 5 platform, provided appropriate risk parameters are set for that instrument's volatility.
Full Manual Control, Never Locked Out
While Rollback Renegade operates autonomously, the trader is never removed from the equation. A professional on-chart dashboard displays live system status — whether the EA is scanning for a breakout, waiting for a rollback entry, currently in a trade, or paused — along with the open position's direction, entry price, and real-time floating profit or loss. A one-click Close All button allows any position to be closed manually at any time, and a Pause/Resume control lets the trader halt new automated entries instantly without interrupting an existing position or restarting the EA.
Who This Is For
Rollback Renegade is built for traders who understand that not every breakout deserves an immediate entry, and who want a systematic, rules-based way to capture trend continuation moves without the guesswork of manual retracement analysis. Every parameter governing the breakout range, rollback percentage, profit protection, and structural exit is fully configurable, giving both discretionary and systematic traders the ability to tune the EA to their own risk tolerance and market conditions. Whether used as a standalone trading system or as a component within a broader portfolio of strategies, Rollback Renegade offers a disciplined, transparent, and fully visible approach to breakout-and-retrace trading on MetaTrader 5.
