XAU News Trade by PipsRobbery is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 designed to automatically trade during major US economic news releases, with a primary focus on XAUUSD / Gold.
The EA prepares BUY and SELL positions before the news release, then automatically manages the surviving position after the market determines the direction.
The entire process of entry, position management, risk protection, broker specification adjustment, and profit management is handled automatically by the EA.
Recommended Symbol
XAUUSD / Gold is the main supported symbol.
The EA will display a warning in the Journal if it is used on a non-XAU symbol.
Supported Economic News
The standard mode of the EA uses:
-
Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP)
-
US Consumer Price Index (CPI)
Additional mode can enable:
-
FOMC Statement / Federal Funds Rate Decision
The EA specifically targets predefined core events and does not automatically trade all high-impact economic news.
How It Works
Before the selected economic event, the EA prepares BUY and SELL positions as an initial hedge.
After the news release and once the market begins to establish direction, the EA manages the surviving position using its internal position management system.
The EA automatically handles processes such as:
-
Initial hedge
-
Survivor position management
-
Risk management
-
Stop protection
-
Profit protection
-
Trailing management
-
Event protection
-
Recovery after terminal or EA restart
All core strategy parameters are managed internally and do not require manual configuration by the user.

User Settings
The EA intentionally uses a simple set of inputs to keep it easy to use.
News Events
Defines the group of economic news to be traded.
The standard option uses NFP and CPI.
Additional mode enables FOMC Statement / Federal Funds Rate Decision.
Maximum Event Risk (%)
Defines the maximum risk preference per event used by the EA’s internal risk management system.
Actual risk may still be affected by broker minimum lot size, spread, slippage, gaps, available margin, and execution conditions.
Unique EA ID (Magic Number)
A unique identifier used by the EA to recognize its own positions and orders.
Use a different Magic Number when running multiple EA instances on the same terminal or different strategies.
Detailed Journal Logs
Enables additional operational information in the MetaTrader 5 Journal.
For normal use, it can be left disabled.
Tester Time Zone
Used only in the Strategy Tester to align the EA’s internal historical calendar with the broker server data time zone.
This setting does not affect live trading time.
Automatic Broker Adaptation
The EA reads symbol specifications directly from MetaTrader 5.
It automatically adjusts calculations based on the symbol and broker characteristics, including:
-
Price precision
-
Number of digits
-
Tick size
-
Contract specification
-
Minimum volume
-
Maximum volume
-
Volume step
-
Volume limit
-
Margin requirement
-
Trading stop restrictions
With this system, the EA does not depend on a single price format or a single broker contract specification.
This allows it to adapt to different symbol formats across various brokers.
Economic Calendar
For live trading, the EA uses the built-in MetaTrader 5 Economic Calendar.
No external news websites, APIs, WebRequest, or DLLs are required.
The EA reads relevant events directly from the MetaTrader 5 calendar using the broker’s trade server time.
Strategy Tester
In the Strategy Tester, the EA uses a built-in historical event calendar.
For more representative results, it is recommended to:
-
Use Every tick based on real ticks
-
Use historical data from the broker intended for live trading
-
Ensure Tester Time Zone matches the broker server historical timestamps
-
Use realistic spread conditions
-
Evaluate results based on full event cycles, not only per-trade win rate
Execution conditions during news can vary significantly between brokers.
Timeframe
The EA is event-driven.
It can be attached to any standard MetaTrader 5 timeframe chart because trading decisions are based on events and market conditions, not the chart timeframe.
Account Requirements
MT5 Hedging Account is required.
The strategy requires BUY and SELL positions to exist simultaneously and separately on the same symbol during the initial event phase.
Netting accounts cannot maintain the position structure required by the strategy.
Minimum deposit balance: recommended minimum balance of at least $100 (or equivalent).
Recommended broker: XM.
Recommended account type: XM Ultra Low Standard Account.
