ASTRARIUM DAY
Disciplined intraday trading on gold (XAUUSD) for MetaTrader 5
Astrarium Day combines three independent gold strategies in one expert advisor. Each of them waits for its own market situation and trades only within the day: every position is closed before the day ends. No overnight swaps, no weekend gaps.
The idea behind the name: an astrarium is a historical instrument that tracked the movement of the heavens with mechanical precision. Astrarium Day brings the same discipline to the market: clear rules, fixed risk, no emotions.
WHY ASTRARIUM DAY
• Three independent strategies for different market situations.
• Flat every night: all positions are closed before the end of the day.
• Every trade is protected by a stop loss placed with the broker. No grid, no martingale, no averaging.
• Macro event filter: high-impact US news days (Non-Farm Payrolls and FOMC decisions) are skipped.
• Staged unlock: on a small account the strategies switch on one by one as the balance grows.
• Performance guard: a strategy pauses new entries when its long-term results turn negative.
LOW DRAWDOWN AND STABILITY IN A FALLING MARKET
Backtest results on XAUUSD history 2009–2026, Conservative profile, start $10,000, commission $6 per lot included:
• Low drawdown: maximum −8.8% in 2009–2019 and −7.0% in 2020–2026. The worst month was only −3.0% and −4.2%.
• No position is held overnight or over the weekend, so overnight and Monday gaps cannot hit the account.
• The EA earns both when gold rises and when it falls. Of the 93 months in which gold fell, 77 closed in profit. Of the 39 months in which gold fell by more than 3%, 34 were profitable.
• Major gold declines: 2012–2013 (gold −32%) — EA +16.9%; 2020–2021 (−18%) — +23.3%; 2022 (−18%) — +9.1%. Of the 9 gold declines of more than 10% since 2011, the EA went through 7 with a profit, and in the other two the loss did not exceed 2.2%.
• On the Balanced and Aggressive profiles the drawdown grows with the position size: up to −17% and −24% in 2009–2019.
SIMPLE SETTINGS
The strategy parameters are researched and maintained by the developer and improved through new releases. You only choose how much to risk and how to trade:
• Risk profile: Conservative (position size x1 of the balance), Balanced (x2), Aggressive (x3), Custom (x0.25–5) or Fixed lot
• Maximum lot and optional daily loss limit
• Staged unlock: strategies switch on one by one as the balance grows (on/off)
• News filter: skip high-impact US news days (on/off)
REQUIREMENTS
• Symbol: XAUUSD (gold), any suffix. Attach to the XAUUSD chart
• Timeframe: any, the EA uses its own internal timing
• Minimum deposit: $300 (the first strategy). All three strategies from $1,000
• Broker server time GMT+2 / GMT+3 (New York close, standard for most MT5 brokers)
• Hedging account (several strategies may hold positions at the same time)
• Low-spread account (ECN / Raw) recommended
• VPS recommended for uninterrupted operation
RECOMMENDATIONS
• Start with the Conservative profile.
• Attach the EA to one XAUUSD chart only. Use a different magic number if you run it on several accounts in one terminal.
• For backtests use the mode "Every tick based on real ticks".
