FORMATION DETECTOR — Advanced Pattern Recognition Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5
Formation Detector is an advanced Expert Advisor developed for MetaTrader 5 that automatically analyzes technical chart patterns and candlestick structures in financial markets.
The system continuously monitors price action, evaluates supported patterns according to their structural rules, and analyzes detected signals using additional filters.
The main purpose of Formation Detector is to systematically and consistently monitor a wide range of technical structures instead of requiring the trader to manually search charts for patterns for hours.
The EA is not designed to act solely because a visual pattern appears. Detected structures are evaluated through additional controls such as the characteristics of the pattern, market conditions, and the internal confidence assessment.
MULTI-PATTERN DETECTION
Formation Detector can monitor numerous technical structures organized into different categories.
Supported structures include classical chart patterns, single-candlestick, two-candlestick, three-candlestick and multi-candlestick patterns, harmonic structures, and advanced technical-analysis models.
CHART PATTERNS
The system can monitor classical price patterns including:

INDIVIDUAL CONFIDENCE SYSTEM
One of Formation Detector's important features is its pattern-specific confidence filter.
A separate minimum confidence level can be configured for each pattern.
For example:
Morning Star Minimum Confidence = 90%
When configured this way, Morning Star signals can be filtered according to the specified confidence threshold.
Different levels may simultaneously be used for other patterns, for example:
• Morning Star: 90%
• Three White Soldiers: 89%
• Double Bottom: 85%
• Gartley: 82%
Therefore, all patterns do not have to depend on a single common confidence level. Users can configure patterns individually according to their strategy and risk approach.
The confidence score is not a guarantee of the probability of a future price movement. It is an internal evaluation measure generated by the technical filters used by the system.
INDIVIDUAL PATTERN CONTROL
Patterns within Formation Detector can be individually enabled or disabled.
Users who want to work only with selected patterns can disable the others. This allows the system to be used either for broad pattern monitoring or as a customized configuration containing selected structures.
AUTOMATED MARKET MONITORING
While the EA is active, it monitors price action and checks the conditions of supported patterns.
This approach is designed for users who do not want to manually monitor many technical structures on the same chart.
Formation Detector does more than simply search for a shape in the market. Detected structures are evaluated according to predefined rules and filters.
AUTOMATIC TRADING
Formation Detector includes automatic trading functionality.
When automatic trading is enabled, the EA can use its trade-management mechanism for signals that satisfy the required system conditions.
Automatic trading can be controlled by the user. Formation Detector can therefore be used as a pattern-monitoring system and, with appropriate configuration, as an Expert Advisor.
TAKE PROFIT AND STOP LOSS MANAGEMENT
When a trade is created, Formation Detector is designed to manage relevant trade levels according to the detected signal structure.
The system can evaluate:
• Entry
• Stop Loss
• Take Profit
• Risk/Reward
as components of the trade structure.
Levels belonging to active trades can be monitored on the chart. When a position ends, removing the related trade visuals helps keep the chart focused on current trade information.
PROFIT TARGET MANAGEMENT
The EA includes position management based on a monetary profit target specified by the user.
When this feature is enabled, the EA can close an open position after the configured monetary target is reached.
This can be used to establish a monetary target approach independent of lot size. Users should select values appropriate for their own trading and risk management.
TRAILING STOP
Formation Detector includes a Trailing Stop feature for managing open positions.
When enabled, the system can manage the Stop Loss as price moves in favor of the position. The feature can be enabled or disabled by the user.
BREAK-EVEN MANAGEMENT
The Break-Even feature can be used to help reduce the risk of an open position when the relevant conditions are met.
Users can configure Break-Even according to their own strategy.
GRID MANAGEMENT
Formation Detector includes optional Grid management features.
Grid is not a mandatory component of the default strategy and can be enabled or disabled by the user.
Grid trading can significantly increase risk. Users should understand its behavior and potential risks before enabling this feature.
RE-ENTRY MANAGEMENT
The system can support re-entry mechanisms in certain trade scenarios.
Re-entry features are designed to work together with the main pattern-detection system as part of a controlled trade-management mechanism. Users should configure the relevant settings according to their own trading approach.
LOT MANAGEMENT
Formation Detector includes a configurable lot-management system that can use different lot sizes for different confidence ranges.
This allows users to define different trade sizes for different confidence zones.
Lot size should be configured according to account balance, leverage, symbol specifications, and personal risk tolerance. Higher lot sizes can significantly increase potential losses.
STATISTICS SYSTEM
Formation Detector is not focused only on signal generation.
The EA also includes a statistical recording infrastructure to help evaluate historical trades.
Depending on the system version and enabled features, trade records may contain information such as:
