Why AURORA is Different
No martingale, no grid, no gambling
Most gold EAs on the marketplace use martingale or grid systems. They look impressive in backtests, high win rates, smooth equity curves, until a strongly trending market runs against them and wipes the account overnight.
AURORA takes one position at a time with a fixed hard stop loss on every trade. A losing streak makes the next trade smaller, not bigger. The account cannot blow up from a single bad sequence.
Walk forward validated, not just backtested
The strategy was optimized exclusively on 2009–2018 data. It was then tested completely untouched on 2018–2026 data, data the optimizer never saw. Both periods produced Sharpe ratios above 6.5. This is genuine out of sample validation, not a curve-fit backtest dressed up as one.
Scales with any account size
Position sizing is calculated dynamically every trade: account balance × risk % ÷ stop distance. A $1,000 account and a $500,000 account both trade at exactly the right lot size automatically. No manual adjustments required.
Genuinely uncorrelated to equity markets
Gold is a flight-to-safety asset. During the 2008 financial crisis, 2020 COVID crash, and 2022 inflation panic, gold moved independently of and often opposite to stock markets. Running AURORA alongside a stock portfolio provides genuine diversification, not just a different flavour of the same risk.
Strategy Architecture
AURORA uses a top-down multi-timeframe trend-pullback approach:
Daily timeframe: Dual EMA crossover on the daily chart establishes primary market direction. AURORA only ever trades in the direction of the dominant daily trend — never against it.
H4 timeframe: A momentum EMA on the 4-hour chart confirms the trend is actively running, filtering out sideways and choppy conditions before they can generate bad entries.
H1 timeframe: Price must pull back to a key moving average on the hourly chart before an entry is considered. AURORA buys dips in uptrends and sells rallies in downtrends — never chases breakouts.
Entry trigger: An RSI momentum cross on the hourly chart confirms the pullback is complete and trend momentum is resuming. This prevents entering mid-pullback into a still-falling market.
Quality filters: A candle body-to-range ratio filter ensures genuine momentum candles only — no doji, no indecision bars. An ATR volatility filter skips dead, low-volatility market conditions where the edge is weakest.
Every entry:
- Stop Loss: hard ATR-based stop, always set at entry
- Take Profit: 4.5× the stop distance (4.5:1 reward-to-risk)
- One position at a time, no pyramid, no partial close, no trail
