NDX OPEN: one trade per day on the US open
The first minutes after the US cash open often set the direction of the NASDAQ 100 for the rest of the session. The EA reads the direction of the first 10-minute candle after 9:30 New York and opens one trade in that direction. The stop is 0.1 × daily ATR and the target is 10 × the stop; otherwise the trade is closed at 15:50 New York.
How it works
- At 9:40 New York the EA builds the opening candle from M1 bars (9:30–9:40). An up candle opens a buy, a down candle opens a sell. No direction or missing data (holiday) means no trade that day.
- Stop distance = StopATR × daily ATR(14). The lot is calculated from RiskPercent of the balance.
- Exit by take profit at TakeR × stop or by time at 15:50 New York. A position left over from a shortened session is closed at the start of the next session.
- New York time is converted to server time automatically, including US daylight saving time. Manual modes are available for brokers with an unusual server clock.
Protection
- One trade per day. No averaging, no grid, no martingale.
- Every position has a stop loss from the moment it opens.
- Weekly loss limit: entries pause until Monday.
- Spread filter (maximum spread as a percent of the stop), free margin check, broker volume and order limits.
Features
- Works with any NASDAQ 100 symbol name: US100, USTEC, NAS100, NQ100 and others. Attach to the index chart, any timeframe.
- Dashboard on the chart: session timeline with open, entry and exit in server time, the opening candle direction, the position with its R multiple, weekly P/L and an event log.
- Hedging and netting accounts.
- Optional CSV trade journal.
What to expect
The win rate is about 20%. Most days end with a small loss of about 1R; the profit comes from fewer trend days that reach up to +10R. Losing streaks of 10 or more trades are normal for this strategy.
Recommendations
- A NASDAQ 100 CFD with a low spread, leverage 1:100 or higher.
- Deposit from 1000 USD. With a smaller deposit MinLotMaxRiskMult allows the minimum lot while its risk stays within the set limit.
- Run on a VPS during the US session.
- Backtest on the NASDAQ 100 symbol of your broker with real ticks or 1-minute OHLC.
Main inputs
- ClockMode: how New York time is converted to server time.
- NYOpenHour / NYOpenMinute, RangeMinutes: US open and the opening candle length.
- NYExitHour / NYExitMinute: forced exit time, New York.
- StopATR, ATRDays: stop as a fraction of the daily ATR.
- TakeR: take profit as a multiple of the stop (0 = time exit only).
- RiskPercent: risk per trade, % of balance.
- MinLotMaxRiskMult: small deposits: allow the minimum lot up to N × the set risk.
- MaxSpreadStopPct: maximum spread as a percent of the stop.
- WeeklyLossPercent: weekly loss limit, %.
- StrongDayRiskMult, StrongBodyATR: optional higher risk on strong days (off by default).
Risks
Index CFDs can gap and slip during news; the actual loss can exceed 1R. The opening-momentum effect may weaken in future market regimes. Test on a demo account first and use a risk you can accept over a long losing streak. Past results do not guarantee future results.
