Gold Trend Sentinel PRO is an XAUUSD Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that sizes each trade from a risk level. It stops itself on daily loss or drawdown. It can pause around high-impact USD news.

This EA promises no profit. The protection limits exposure; it does not remove the risk of loss. Every result below is a backtest, not live trading.

Quick start

Open an XAUUSD chart (a prefixed or suffixed name is fine) and attach the EA from the Navigator. Keep Algo Trading enabled.
Choose the lot size: Risk level (default, Safe, 1% of balance) or Fixed lot (0.01). The Risk row on the panel shows the result.
Check the protection: the daily loss limit (3%) and the maximum drawdown (20%) are on by default. Push alerts are on too and need your MetaQuotes ID in the terminal.
Leave the news filter off to run the rule as tested, or turn it on to pause around high-impact USD releases.

Standalone: everything is built in. You do not need to buy or install any other product named on this page.

Status panel: Lot, Risk, Protect and Filters rows, the open trade, monthly results, largest drawdown, next high-impact USD release.
Buttons: Close (with confirmation), Pause or Resume, Export closed trades to CSV.

Entry rule in brief

On each new H4 bar the EA reads the last closed bar. A buy needs a close above the UT Bot line, a daily close above its 200-day EMA and an upward Supertrend. A sell is the reverse. The stop starts at 3 x ATR and trails. There is no take profit. One position at a time. It is the same entry rule as in the free Gold Trend Sentinel.

What Pro adds

Lot sizing by risk level: Safe 1%, Medium 2%, High 3%, Very high 5% or a custom percent. The percent is of balance (or equity) lost if the stop is hit, never below the broker's minimum. Fixed-lot mode exists.
Daily loss limit (3%), daily profit target (off), maximum drawdown from peak equity (20%) with optional closing of the open trade. A cap on new trades per day.
Optional break-even and partial close (off), time filter, spread guard (no new trade above 0.02% of price), and push and e-mail alerts.

Protection and filters block new entries only, never exits.

News filter (new in 1.11)

Off by default, so the entry rule runs as tested. When on, it blocks new trades for a set time around high-impact USD releases (NFP, CPI, FOMC and similar). An option closes an open trade before the release. Live charts read the MetaTrader calendar. The Strategy Tester has none, so the EA carries a built-in list of 556 events from 2020 to 2026.

Backtest, not live trading: Python, XAUUSD broker history, 2020 to October 2026, fixed 0.01 lot, default inputs. Trading through news: 85 trades, +1,348 USD, worst drawdown 635 USD. Pausing 30 minutes either side changed nothing. Also closing open trades 30 minutes before each release gave 97 trades, +1,187 USD, worst drawdown 186 USD. It did not beat trading through news in both halves of the period, hence off by default.

Who it is for / not for

For traders who want to choose a risk level, have loss and drawdown limits applied automatically and test news handling on history. Not for frequent trades, a per-trade profit target or other symbols. For a fixed 0.01 lot, the free edition is enough.

Use and limits

It trades only on XAUUSD charts, including prefixed or suffixed names. The Strategy Tester accepts any symbol.
The stop on gold is about 115 USD per 0.01 lot in 2026. At Safe, below roughly 12,000 USD even the minimum lot risks more than 1%, and the panel says so.
Keep the terminal running, or use a VPS.

How it was checked

Code checks: Python copies of the EA's indicator code and trade handling matched the research rule. This used H4 broker history, October 2021 to October 2026. Result: 112 of 112 signals, 85 of 85 trades.
Backtest, not live trading: Python, XAUUSD broker history, October 2021 to October 2026, 10,000 USD start, spread, commission, slippage and swap included, 85 trades. Worst drawdown: fixed 0.01 lot 5.4%, Safe 4.7%, Medium 8.3%. Higher levels magnify losing streaks too.
The rule was chosen on 2010-2023 research and judged once on 2024-2026, so this is not new out-of-sample evidence. Most profit came from buys in a rising gold market; sells lost slightly. A forward test started in October 2026 is not finished.
