Spectrum Catcher is built for traders who want a rules-based statistical approach rather than discretionary chart reading. It trades cointegrated pairs: two related symbols whose price gap tends to return to a stable average. The EA only acts when that relationship is statistically valid and the spread has moved far enough from its mean to justify a mean-reversion trade.
This EA functions as a single-chart manager: just load it on the EURUSD chart with M30 timeframe, and it will execute its strategy while monitoring the EURUSD. This approach keeps things streamlined but enables handling multiple symbols efficiently.

Principle Trading Approach
Statistical Arbitrage via Cointegrated Pairs: Spectrum Catcher does not try to predict whether a single market will rise or fall. It looks for two symbols that normally move together and trades the spread between them — the gap that remains after one price is adjusted against the other by a hedge ratio. When that gap stretches too far and then snaps back, the EA aims to capture the return to the average. Profit comes from the relationship normalizing, not from guessing direction on one chart.
Cointegration Check with the Augmented Dickey–Fuller (ADF) Test: A pair is only eligible when the spread behaves like a stable, mean-reverting series. The EA applies the Augmented Dickey–Fuller test to the spread. ADF checks whether the series tends to drift without bound or whether shocks fade and the spread returns toward a constant level. If the test supports stationarity, the pair is treated as cointegrated and may be traded. If the relationship is weak or has broken down, the EA stays out. This filter is what separates a genuine statistical pair from two prices that only look related for a while.
Spread Z-Score Mean Reversion: Once a pair passes the ADF check, the EA measures how unusual the current spread is. It calculates a z-score: the distance of the live spread from its recent average, expressed in standard deviations. A z-score near zero means the spread is about normal. A large positive or negative z-score means one leg is rich and the other is cheap relative to their usual link. The EA enters only at those stretched levels, buying the underpriced leg and selling the overpriced leg in a market-neutral pair. It looks to exit as the z-score moves back toward zero and the spread mean-reverts. Positions are managed as a pair so exposure stays tied to the spread, not to a one-sided directional bet.
Risk and Discipline: Mean reversion is only valid while cointegration holds. The EA keeps risk aligned with that idea: it requires a confirmed stationary spread, waits for a clear z-score extreme, and avoids trading when the statistical link is not in place. The goal is selective pairs trades during well-defined dislocations, with position size and exits governed by the spread rather than by chasing every price move.
